Cynthia's POV

Darkness.

It engulfs me like a blanket covering me from head to toe.

The world is covered in it there's no light or way to go.

I am all alone.

Flashback:

"Mother, father, sister where are you??"

I opened the door to reveal my mother and father dead.

"No, you can't be dead?"

"Cynthia!! Are you alright?!" My big sister shouted

"Sister!! You're alive" I exclaimed

Cordelia hugged me tightly

"We have to get out of here Cynthia we have to run away " Cordelia said

Suddenly

*BANG!*

A gunshot was fired, I looked up to my sister who held me tightly

"...Sister"

Blood ran down her porcelain face, Her grip loosened and she fell on the floor.

"Run...Cynthia...run away" she weakly said

Those were my beloved sister's last words.

Flashback over: present time~~~~

"Oi it's selection you brats so get up!" The guard said

The guards went to each girl checking them to see if they were alive or dead

"Ah this one's dead" one of the guards said

"Our master shouldn't be so rough to these girls knowing their virginity will be lost to our master"

The guards took the girl and dragged her out of the dark room

Soon the guards arrived to where I was laying down

"Ah I wonder why the master hasn't played with you yet, but I'm sure he will in no time so make sure to stay alive" the guard said

The guards groped my body I tried to make them stop

"C'mon it's the master's plaything not ours" the second guard said

The first guard let me go

"You're no fun I was just playing"

"Yea yea lets keep checking the rest of these girls" the guard said

"Fine"

"Alright that should be all of them" the guards said as they left the room

After they left a group of maids came to the room

"Bath time the master wants all of you to be clean" the head maid said

We were soon brought to the underground where the maids poured water and washed out bodies

Three girls were brought to the room their bodies were weak and they were covered with kiss marks everywhere

The maids scrubbed them clean

'Is that what's going to happen to me?!'

"Hey there's a way we can get away from here, there are Devine beings all you have to do is make a pact with them and they'll grant you any wish you want" a girl said

"Shut up that's an old story be realistic, didn't you hear what's going to happen to us" the other girl said

"But..."

I placed my hand on the girls shoulder

"How do you do it?" I asked determined

"You have to get a candle and step in front of a mirror and exhale to fog the mirror then precisely when the clock strikes midnight you have write your name backwards the Devine being is supposed to arrive and grant your wish" the girls said

I escaped the room where I was being held our guards were asleep so they didn't notice me

I took a candle from the hallway I kept walking until I saw a hallway mirror I exhaled and fogged the mirror then the clock struck midnight

*DONG DONG*

The clocks sound echoed I wrote my name backwards

'aihtnyC'

My name slowly started to turn into blood, I could see a figure in the mirror a smile sinister and evil it was getting closer and closer a pair of hands were coming out of the mirror

I dropped the candle and it was completely dark

"You've summoned me why?"

"I-I did....are you a Devine being?" I asked afraid

It laughed darkly at me

"No, my foolish girl if you haven't dropped your candle you would've already known exactly what I am"

"You're a spirit....a ghost" I assumed

I could only see its fuchsia eyes and it went from side to side probably saying 'no'

"I'm a demon"

"A demon?!"

"Anyways enough of introductions you have summoned me here meaning you have a wish you want me to fulfill am I right?"

"Yes, I have a wish"

"Then will you form a contract with me? However understand that if you do make a contract with me your soul will belong to me, and the path to heaven will be forever closed to you meaning when you die you will go to hell"

"I don't care as long as I get what I want"

The devil grabbed my face

"For a small body You're a pretty arrogant and selfish girl"

"Is there a human that Is not?"

I felt his hand leave my face

The demon chuckled "I suppose not very well tell me your wish"

"I want to power I want enough power so I can find whoever ruined my family's name and the ones who murderer them to suffer I want them to feel the exact pain as I felt, to suffer the way I did and to die a painful and horrible death"

The demon chuckled

"My my my such a wish do you think revenge will do you any good it won't bring your parents back? and it certainly won't make anybody happy"

"I don't care I'm doing this for myself so do we have a deal or not?"

The devil smiled "Fine it's a deal now I will place my mark on you to complete our contract where do you want it?" He asked

"It can't be where anybody can see it I am a lady after all"

"I see, well then I'll place in a place only I can get access to"

"Ah!"

I felt a burning sensation on my lower back causing me to wince and lay on the ground

"Did it hurt? I'm sorry" the devil asked clearly amused

"No, I've felt worse pain than this, this pain is meaningless" I stated

The devil smirked "Well then now that our bodies our marked what's your name?"

"My name is...Cynthia chandler countess and head of the chandler family"

"A countess eh? I guess I'll have to look appropriate since I'm serving a countess"

The darkness cleared up and the devil stepped into the moon light. He wore a butlers outfit and his face was revealed

"Well, then give me an order my mistress" he said bowing

I stood up "what's your name?"

"My previous master called me Luke however you may change my name if you wish" he said

"Luke....no it's fine however I'll give you a last name it'll be...Lancelin, Luke Lancelin" I said

"Very well then Luke Lancelin will be my name" he said

"What?! one of the girls escaped find her quickly!!" A guard yelled from far away

I panicked but Luke stepped in front of me

"What are my orders mistress?"

"Luke...kill the guards" I ordered

"Is that all?" He asked

"No...kill the master of this estate as well" I added

"Yes my lady"

Time skip outside the estate...

"I've set the girls free my lady and contacted the authorities" Luke said

"Yes, that's fine"

"Where shall we go my lady?" He asked

"I don't know we weren't allowed to leave the estate so I don't know where I am"

"Eh?"

"Are we still in France though?"

"Yes, my lady it seems so"

"Then I want to go home my estate should be in Paris lets go there first" I suggested

"Very well my lady"

Luke picked me up bridal style

"Eh?! What are you doing?" I asked

"A proper butler would never allow his mistress to walk barefoot"

"Alright let's go Luke I don't want to be here anymore" I said tired

"It'll be a long trip so you can rest mistress leave everything to your butler" he said

I closed my eyes and rated my head on Luke's shoulder taking a long nap

"Mistress mistress wake up"

"Ugh where am I?"

"We are at your estate my lady" Luke said

"Luke put me down that's an order I want to walk on my own" I said

He put me down and I walked towards the entrance of my estate

We arrived at my estate it was still intact however their was still some damage done

"There will be a lot of work to be done I'm afraid" Luke sighed

"We can stay at an inn in the city if we have to" I suggested

"Mistress I shall scan the area for your safety"

And with that he left

I went up the hill where three graves stood my mother, my father and my beloved sister all of them their final resting place

"Mother, father, sister farewell" I said

I turned around Luke was waiting for me

"My lady night is falling you must be exhausted due to the events of today" Luke said

"Let's go there should be inns or pubs available in the area we can go there for now the mansion isn't destroyed but it's dirty and in bad shape" I suggested

"That won't be necessary my lady" Luke said

Luke opened the door to reveal the estate clean and in a good state

"From this day forward this is your manor my lady" he said

Time skip at the bath...

"It hurts!! It hurts Luke stop that!!" I scolded

"My lady you have several injuries in your body if we don't clean them it can get infected and you can get sick or die" he explained

"But it hurts" I whined

He sighed "Please bear with it my lady"

"Close your eyes" he said

I closed my eyes and he poured water over my hair getting rid of all the soap

His hands bushed over the contract seal on my lower back I hissed it still hurt

He chuckled "Does it still hurt?" He asked amused

"No, it just burns" I lied

"Well, what will you do now my lady you're now head of your family not officially, but still there are many things you still have to learn how will you handle this?" Luke asked grabbing the scissors on the table and cutting my hair and bangs

"Father and mother wanted me to marry into a rich family my older sister was originally going to become head of the family but now I guess it's my duty I'm not a countess yet but soon I'll have to become the real thing"

"And I'll be by your side when that happens my lady" Luke said

"This mansion is rather large doing everything by myself will be difficult we should start interviewing for servants"

"No__not yet"

"No? Very well"

"Eventually I'll have to have more servants around and I'm sure you'll do your best to hire someone you trust right Luke?"

"Yes, I do have somebody in mind however I you wish for me to wait then I will do what you ask of me" he said

Luke poured water over my hair to get rid of the remaining lose hair, I got out and he dryer my body with the towel

*Stomach growling*

"Heh I guess you're hungry I'll make dinner right away" he chuckled

He stood up "I'll leave you to change my lady" he said as he exited the bathroom

After I finished changing Luke took me to the dining room to eat

Luke brought a big banquet of food

"Well then my mistress please eat all your heart desires."

Luke handed me a plate of food I bit and chewed the food

"It's delicious"

"I'm happy it please you my lady" he said

"How did you learn to cook like this?" I asked

"Well, my previous masters forced me to learn how to cook according to human taste so I eventually learned by my masters constantly judging the food I made and used that as my guide to getting better" he said

I was drinking the water when I suddenly yawned

"My my you must be tired I'll get everything ready for you to bed my lady while I do so please finish eating" Luke said as he left the room

After I finished my food Luke came back and took me to my room

"Good night my lady" he said

I grabbed his jacket "stay"

"What?"

"Stay with me until I fall asleep" I said

"As you wish my lady"

Time skip 3 months later:[
A/N play music on the side]

"My lady wake up it's time to get up"

I groaned as the light of day shined on my eyes

I sat up, yawned and stretched

"Good morning mistress this morning for breakfast we have a chocolate hazelnut banana oatmeal and we have sanderson's English breakfast tea I hope it's to your liking"

I sipped the tea "it's fine"

I started eating my breakfast

"I'm pleased now today you're schedule consist of a meeting with the duke of Versailles and his son after that you have a history lesson with miss poppins and lastly you have a dress appointment with Nina Hopkins"

I whined "I don't want to meet the duke of Versailles or his son"

"Apologies my lady but you cannot delay this matter for any longer as a countess or more a noble you do need a fiancé meeting with these dukes and lords it's your responsibility to consider marriage" Luke said

"But I don't want to get married I'm only 15 years old Luke it's not fair"

Luke chuckled "at her age happy mothers are made"

"Stop quoting Romeo and Juliet and it wasn't 15 it was 13" I argued

"Of course my lady" Luke said taking my plate of oatmeal and tea away and placing it on the cart

A knock was heard at the door

"Come in" Luke said

Our maid Emily came inside holding a letter

"My lady I have received a Letter for you" she said

"Bring it here" I ordered

Emily gave me the letter I looked at the seal

"Phantomhive?!"

Luke accidentally dropped the silver ware

"Luke? Is everything alright" I asked curiously

"Don't mind me my lady do continue" he said kneeling down to pick up the silverware

I opened the letter and read it out loud

"Dear countess Cynthia chandler;

I have heard news of what has happened to your family though it is late I express my deepest regards and too I share your grief with you for you and your family were very close and dear to mine, I would be honored if you would make an appearance at my manor this weekend for a special event I'm holding I would like to very much see you again, and hope you'll be able to make it.

Sincerely, Earl Ciel Phantomhive"

"A very interesting letter" Luke said amused

"Ciel's parents died 3years ago in a horrible accident I did not go to the funeral or burial but my parents did though I stayed here with my older sister I haven't seen ciel ever since my family left England" I explained

"Will you go?" Luke asked

I looked at him "Of course I will! he's like family"

"Then I will make the preparations, Emily you will help change the young mistress"

"Yes, sir"

Luke took the cart and left my bedroom

Luke's POV

'Honestly why now?! It's too early I haven't even gotten everything prepared yet'

I went to the kitchen and placed the dirty dishes in the sink, I pulled back my sleeves and started washing them once I was done I laid back against the sink thinking about what to do

Emily came into the kitchen

"The mistress is dressed and in her office working Luke" she said

I signaled her to come to me
"Have you done what I've asked of you Taurus?"

"Yes, I did as you asked I went to London to earl phantomhives manor and checked on Sebastian Michaelis"

"How was he?" I asked

She smirked "The demons a total wreck, he can barely do his job anymore, at nights he goes to his bedroom and looks at the picture of Catherine though it's very rare for him to cry it's as if he no longer has tears left to cry."

"A foolish demon he is what was he thinking? Drinking the blood of a Cheshire Cat."

"You can't blame him he was so very desperate to keep that cat with him" she said laying her head on my chest stroking the outline of my jaw with her pointer finger

I sighed 'A succubus is still a succubus'

"Almost every demon knows that drinking the blood of a Cheshire Cat is the equivalent of drinking the highest quality of poison her blood will slowly start killing him, he'll start hallucinating about her and have weird visions about her past lives eventually he'll start choking on his own blood and die horribly"

"And you're waiting for that to happen aren't you Luze?"Taurus asked sweetly

"I'm more worried about her memories of me popping up in his head" I stated

"I'll protect you so you have nothing to worry about Luze okay?"

"Stop I've told you to call me Luke while I'm working and use your alias Taurus it'll be bad if a demon catches us" I warned

She pouted" I know but your so distant when you're working it's not fair! that brat has you all to herself"

I chucked "Jealous Taurus?"

"Oh be quiet you" she scolded nuzzling into my neck

"You're a faulty succubus meaning you cannot get pregnant no matter how many men you bed and I'm a traitor to the demon world forever forced to run away from my punishment so in the end both of us are the same"

"I guess you're right in some way, now won't you play with me Luze?" She asked seductively playing with my hair

She was about to kiss me when suddenly___

*DING DING*

The bell to the study rang indicating my mistress needed something

She froze and pulled away before she could kiss me

'Saved by the bell'

"Again the brat has interrupted us" she muttered clearly annoyed

I glared at her "mind your manners Taurus or I'll have to teach you your place" I threatened

She pouted as I moved away from her and exited the kitchen

'Damn that was close'

Authors note:

So this is the first part of the Book of sorrow hope you liked it

I made Cynthia's encounter with Luke similar to alois trancy's encounter in a similar situation

And the different names aren't typos just in case you were like what wasn't her name Emily and now it's taurus? and what his name is Luke not Luze it will be explained in the next chapters

Next I'm going to do character profiles on Luze, Taurus and Cynthia
