Chapter 19: Running from the Fight
Donovan stood there above all the bodies when he sensed something strange. He turned around and began running down the hall in till he reached a large open door. He stepped in and saw gym equipment and a basketball quart, that’s when he saw broken wooden from the floor with a body in the middle. He slowly stepped there and saw a small body with purple hair. His eyes widened and he quickly dropped to his knees there and took down her cloak. His heart almost stopped when he saw Artemis not breathing. Donovan tried searching for a pulse but he couldn’t find one. His eyes began tearing up and he laid down his head on her stomach. He mumbled a curse and almost began crying.
“How can you be dead?! You can’t!” Donovan then felt something. A beat. He felt a pulse coming back, a heartbeat. He stared at her then stood up and walked back away. I should’ve known. She’s a vampire, she can’t die that easily. I should step back a little, before she thinks I’m the one who killed her and attack me. He stepped a little more back and realized her breathing speeded up and her hands began moving. Her eyes shot open and she sat up and leaned forward. She placed her face in her hands.
“Ow what happened?” She looked tot eh side and saw Donovan. Her eyes widened then narrowed her eyes. Does he know the truth? Can I trust him?
“You ok Artemis?” She looked down and nodded. Donovan walked over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. “You sure? What happened? You almost gave me a heart attack.”
“I don’t know…where’s the others?”
“I don’t know, properly looking for Ackerley or something.” Artemis nodded.
“Donovan…I…I don’t want to be a part of this fight any more, I want to make a peace treating between them. I heard from Kione the past and the man who attacked me told me a little about the past. Both sides think it’s the other one who attacked; I want to find out the truth. Will you come with me to find out?” She said truthfully.
“Umm…I guess I can, but are you sure you want to?” She nodded with a serious face.
“Ok, where will we find the truth?” She looked down to the ground then up again, staring into his eyes.
“Cyloc.” He nodded.
“If we want to make it in time, we better go now.” Artemis nodded then looked to a door, then began walking, followed by Donovan.
Back at the other group, Marise and Cerberus separated from Maori and went down to the labs to delete all the info they got from Cerberus the last time he was captured before they send the info to allies in other countries. They were in the elevator and reached the first basement floor and left.
Middle- This is where I was held…
Maris then bends down and placed Migi down gently.
Left- Something wrong?
“I felt Migi move.” Hibarai and Man’naka surrounded Migi to see if she’s ok. Migi’s eyes twitched then opened them. Everything was blurry before she saw two fury faces with aqua and red eyes. Migi thought it might be a monster and began howling from fright. Marise grabbed both Cerberus’ and pulled them away. She moved closer and touched Migi’s head on the side and brushed through her fur. Migi closed her eyes and quickly opened them again and started barking at Marise. Marise quickly baked away from Migi. Migi moved away and growled at them.
Middle- Her eyes must not be working to well
“Do we just wait?” After a moment of silence, Hibari moved forward to Migi. “Hibari stop…” Hibari moved to the shaking, frightened Migi and stopped in front of her. Migi opened her mouth revealing her long deadly fangs and just before she charged at him she blinked and her vision came back to her.
Right- Hi-Hi-Hibari?
Hibari smiled and nodded. Migi almost began crying and Marise ran forward and hugged Migi around the neck.
“Migi! We were so worried! You were out for more than a week...” Migi took a moment to remember what happened before she responded and rested on Marise.
Right- Where are we?
“Lab.”
Right- Why?
“We’re going to destroy all the info they gathered on you guys and speaking of which we better get going before we lose so much time. “They all agreed and stood up and ran to the first floor’s lab door. They didn’t hear much inside except for typing. They slowly opened the door and saw in front of a small computer screen a man sitting and typing. They walked in and stood a few feet behind him. He didn’t even realize them in till they began speaking.
“Do you have the information about Cerberus?” Marise asked. The man didn’t even turn around and asked,
“Did Ackerley send you?” Marise played along.
“Yes.” He spun around on his chair and grinned. He observed them then smiled.
“Ackerley wouldn’t be that stupid you know?” The man spun around again and hit a red button. Metal walls fell down from the roof and blocked the door. Red lights began flying around the room. “I won’t let you get away.”
Maori ran through the hall, destroying all who approached him. He was searching for Donovan but didn’t find a trace of him, no hair, no scent, nothing. He totally disappeared. Maori stopped in the hall when he heard a big ruckus like machinery. He entered the room where he heard the ruckus and saw thousands of machines and smoke coming out from them. One was louder than normal and was about bigger than Maori himself. It was like a fridge, but dark and full of bolts. Maori opened the fridge and a room full of smoke came from it. He coughed and moved away a little. A red light came throw the smoke and make a thin laser light in till it reached his forehead. Three beeps came and a massive explosion making Maori fly away and hit with his back on a running machine. He then heard loud steps coming towards him and before he could blink, another red light formed on his fore head. The thing moved forward in till Maori could see it, a massive robot bigger than Maori himself. Its eyes were red and he was full of weapons.
“Think you must be a badass making me fly away? Well guess what, you’re wrong. It’s your turn now to fly.” Maori pushed away the robot that it flies to the other side of the room. Maori lifted his huge arms and pounded the ground making the robot lose his balance and fall to the ground. The robot quickly stood up and lifted its hands out then shot lasers out to Maori. Maori quickly avoided and ran to the robot and pounded it in the body, making wires and small machines fall out then it collapsed to the ground. Maori stood up straight and looked all around. Either the Antonios aren’t as evolved as we thought, or…or they’re trying to distract us, but why? For what purpose? They’re trying to distract us…there are a lot less soldiers here than we expected from them at least and they didn’t kill us when they had the chance or even question us, something’s up…and I’ll figure out what it is…
Maori began searching through the rubble and examined the machines before he found an old blue print and his eyes widened.
“This is-!”…
