Chapter 18: Pride of the Wings

Ernestine, Divya, Marise with Migi, Cerberus and Maori all ran down the hall as fast as they can.

“Does anyone have an idea where’re we going?” Marise yelled as they ran but she didn’t pay attention and ran into a door.

“Stupid.” She stood up and opened the door. They entered the dark room. It was bigger than the gym but had nothing in it. Then lights began flicking on and the door closed behind them and closed.

“We have company…”

“Hello there.” They heard a man’s voice. They turned to where they heard it, it was Ackerley.

“Finally, you’ve revealed yourself.” Ernestine said.

“I want to end this battle. You’ve been hurting a lot of my comrades and my daughter-“

“She’s not your daughter, she’s Kione’s daughter.”  Ackerley shrugged.

“You know that’s not true.” Ackerley let down his guard for a second then Ernestine charged at him with a sword. Ackerley quickly grabbed his sword from his belt and clashed with Ernestine. “Tired hey?”

“Let’s just end this.” Ernestine and Ackeley jumped back then they came back at each other.

“Ummm what should we do?” Maori asked.

“Ernestine says he would like you three to go out and clear the soldiers.” Divya said calmly.

“How do you know that he wants that?”

“We’re connected. Now go!” They didn’t hesitate and moved out of the room.

“So it’s a one-on-one battle hey? Interesting.” Divya stood on the side of the room, watching them clash. Ackeley jumped up and swung his sword down onto Ernestine who quickly countered with his sword as a shield. Ernestine jumped up letting Ackerley lose his balance a little and made an opening which Ernestine took and sliced of Ackerley’s arm, letting the blood fly and his arm fall to the ground. Ackerley bit his lip, letting blood roll down from his mouth. Ackerley jumped up and stared into Ernestine’s eyes, making him feel uncomfortable. Then Ackerley disappeared, completely vanished and reappeared at Ernestine’s back and pierced his sword through his heart.

“Came over.” He said then took out the sword with his one arm. Ernestine fell down to the ground, motionless. Divya moved a little forward with a frown on her face. I guess I’ll have to take care of him in till Ernestine recovers from death.

Divya vanished and as Ackerley she reappeared behind him and held out both hands in front of her in fists then opened them, revealing a dark light. Ackerley quickly turned around and as these lights shot forward like laser he held up his sword and repelled them. Divya silently cursed and held out her arms to her sides, again in fists. When she opened them the light turned into two large swords of dark light. She charged forward at Ackerley who held up his sword and accepted the clash. He then smirked and vanished. Divya fell forward with the light swords and almost pierced Ernestine but quickly jumped up at the sky. She let the light swords fall and as they met with the wooden floor, they turned into light and disappeared. She pulled her knees closer to her and wrapped her arms around herself with closed eyes. Then two bumps began sprouting from her back and grew in till they tore her cloak and grew even more out. White and black feathers filled the room as Divya sprouted two beautiful angel wings of what the left one was white and right black. Ackerley was left speechless as he stared at these wings which filled the room.

“Are you a…are you an angel?” He asked with wide eyes. She shrugged then began laughing out loud.

“Believe me, if I was, then things would’ve gone easier for me.”

“Huh?”

“But like I’ll tell you about it.” He raised his eyebrows then blinked and she was gone.

“Wait, what?!” Then the next thing he felt was a shock through his entire body and pain all over. He looked all around but saw nothing. He felt his body but nothing happened that second. Then he heard a hawk cry and looked up. Divya came swooping down, but this time her face had a white beak and black eyes. Feathers began growing rapidly all over her skin.

“What the Hell?! A monster?!” Her legs transformed into that of a hawk’s and as she closed in on him with her toe nails she quickly flew upwards into the roof frame and disappeared in its long darkness.  “What the-?”

Divya sat on the highest frame and covered her hawk head with the black and white wings of hers. What am I doing? Am I running away just because he called me a monster? Why did I do that? I thought I’m stronger than that!

On a planet, far away in another solar system than the one Koraclion is in, there was a planet of blue and green, just like Koraclion, but this one was a lot smaller than Koraclion and had a lot stranger beings…

“Divya is a dove! Divya is dove! Divya is a stinky icky little slimy dove!”

Each life form on this planet was a mutant, a mutant of an animal. Divya is a hawk, but because the district she lives in has never really had flight mutants she’s always picked on and called a dove or pigeon. Her mother was an octopus, and her father a lion. After she was born they abandoned her in the woods. All her life she bonded with the strange wood beings and more precisely the flight types. They fed her worms and meat and helped her in till she was five years old and she decided she would go to the local school by herself. She wanted to know what everyone else knows and was accepted to the school, but she was always picked on, it was never ending the bullying on her. She was that silent one at the back of the class which if the cool guys in class didn’t pick on her than no one would even know she survives. One day random bombing came from the sky and Divya was the only one who could escape because of her wings. When the bombing stopped she just wondered around, not knowing what to do with her life, a black figured appeared before her and told her he would take her to another place where she will be praised for her power. She accepted and was take nalong with him. At the top of the mountain in Curys at the main base of Black Blood. Divya was just wondering around in till she reached the light room where a tall black figure stood.

“Are you the man who brought me here mister?”

“No child, but I’m the one who will be taking care of you from today.” Ernestine hugged Divya letting her tear up and cry. A lot had happened since Ernestine adopted Divya and trained her physically and mentally, for herself to love herself.  She got a lot of memories since she joined with him 1700 years ago.  When she thought she was strong enough she went to the Great Path and confronted these demons she’s been hearing so much about and almost died just going up against the guards.

Divya always remembers the past when someone calls her a monster, and sometimes it’s more painful and she remembers the things they did to her. Pluck her feathers, break her wings, make her bleed…and sometimes she remembers things even worse than that and she becomes frozen for an hour or so.

Divya shook her head and raised her wings with pride then covered her face with them. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the one thing she’s been trying to achieve all these years, to do a full transformation. All the years she’s only been able to grow her wings and if she really tries she can grow a beak, but she knew she wouldn’t be able to beat Ackerley with just that. She closed her eyes and concentrated. Feathers began spawning everywhere on her body and her nails and toe nails got longer. Her legs and arms changed and long feathers began growing on top of her head. She then spread her wings wide open and let out a hawk cry. Ackerley widened his eyes and looked upwards. Divya flew down but so fast Ackerley couldn’t follow. Ackerley looked all around but couldn’t find a trace of her. Then when he turned his head to the side he saw long viscous claws coming for his face and scratched him that blood spilled. Ackerley didn’t hesitate and took his sword then sliced her feathery arms and she flew upwards again, just far enough that Ackerley couldn’t reach her.

“What are you?” Ackerley asked as he wiped off the blood of his face.

“Me? That’s none of your business, what I want to know is how you and Ernestine are connected.” Ackerley’s eyes widened and he stared at her.

“What do you mean? Two sides of a war, that’s all connection there is.”

“You’re lying. If that was all then you’d been dead by now. We would’ve waited so long before striking. We wouldn’t have stolen your daughter to just make you angry, and he wouldn’t have waited 2000 years to just kill the main branch. There is more to the connection then two sides of the war…and Ernestine wouldn’t tell me and no matter how far I go into his mind, there’s nothing…” Divya flew quickly to him and wrapped her big, sharp feet around his shoulders and looked straight into his eyes, so close. “So you know?” Ackerley swallowed his breath and shook his head. Divya smirked and vanished again, leaving Ackerley confused…
