"What happened?!" The girl in front of her asked with her hands on Sierra's shoulders. Her eyes demanded an answer to what she was displaying. Sierra's eyes weren't that bruised anymore, but it wasn't healing quick enough, at least not fast enough for Sierra to be able to hide it.
"Nothing happened, Potter," Sierra mumbled. "I just fell while trying to fix my room at home. It's not biggy."
"NO BIGGY?!" Jane exclaimed. "You wince at the touch of your arm!'
"Just leave it alone, Jane." Sierra shakes her friend's hands off her. "I said it was nothing." Sierra grabs her bag and holds on. tightly to the strap before storming away from her friends.
It was the second time that Sierra and Jane took time apart. Sierra knew that she could easily tell her best friend what had truly happened, but what would that change for her in the end? Jane would never be able to stop it, no matter how much Sierra would want her to finally put an end to it.
The school felt different. If there was one thing that even the portraits knew was that Sierra and Jane along with Petra and Rena were inseparable. The strain that the group of girls now had between them even had the portraits think about what they would say around them. Students whispered amongst themselves, coming up with stories to explain the sudden shift of friendship.
"Sierra?" Sierra looked up from the desk and met the gentle eyes of the one and only Liam. He held a piece of bread and sat right in front of her.
"Liam? A pleasure as always."
"Are you okay?" He asked. The weight in her chest became unbearable, making her entire body numb and her head heavy. Liam grabbed her hands and looked around and stood up once again. "Come on." Without saying any word, Sierra followed the red-headed boy out to the field. "Sit."
And so she did.
"You look horrible." It made Sierra laugh. Her stomach aches as her body untensed.
"What every girl wants to hear, Evans." Liam just continued to look at her, awaiting an answer.
"I'm fine."
"Your body says differently."
"It always does." She mumbled under her breath before taking a deep breath and looking at him with a small smile on her face. "What?"
"I thought we were too much for you." Liam rolled his eyes and stands up. "Where are you going?"
"Well, Black, seems like you are feeling all better." He offers her his hand to help her off the grass and she gladly takes it. The force of the pull finally stretches out her tensed arm, making Sierra welp in pain. "We're going to the hospital wing." Sierra crosses her arms as a form of rebellion. "Im not asking you, Black. Whether you believe it or not, Jane and Rena asked me to come and check on you."
"Rena?" He nods.
"Will you let me take you to get you healed?" Sierra without another word said nods and wraps her arms around the boy. "You're going to be fine."
And she finally let her body take the fall, right where she knew she might be okay to fall.
