12.

Sierra reread her book constantly trying to finish her assignment the night before turning it in. Jane and Petra were already sleeping while Rena had gone back home to see how her mom was doing. They all sent their good wishes hoping that Mrs.Lupin was found in nothing but good health.

Procrastination was her best friend. Jane had helped Petra do to her assignment, which they finished within no time. Sierra kept playing with the ends of her hair, waiting until the last minute to actually do her work. She counted on Jane to help her but once the girl had put her head back on her bed, she had fallen asleep.

Page 394 was a tough section to read about at night. Especially on a full moon, which was the main reason why Sierra wanted Rena or Jane to help her with her work. Not that she was afraid, just wanted to be sure she had her information right. Their professor had asked them differences between a werewolf and an aminagaous (?), making sure they knew what she was talking about. Sierra continued to write down things, all the signs of a werewolf and how dangerous they are if messed with in the begin with.

"Transformations happen during every full moon. The monster in them unleashes, completely destroying the mentality of the human it possesses. Werewolf tendencies are so powerful, a werewolf would most likely murder their best friend if they were around. Although the transformation does not occur often, it is draining to the body of the infected. They are usually tired and easily irritated when it is close to a full moon and look ill a few days after."

Sierra put her quill back into her ink before reading over her small paragraph.
"This sounds like Rena..." She whispered to herself before yawning and closing her book. " I'll have her read it in the morning." She blows the candle and lays on her bed, eyes wide open. The howls echoed outside leaving Sierra to think about her best friend.

It all made sense, yet she couldn't picture Rena being a beast. There was no other explanation about the disappearance during a full moon and arriving tired and ill-looking the following morning.

Sierra needed to tell someone she was starting to believe that her best friend was, in fact, a werewolf. There wasn't anything she could do by herself. Surely there must have been a potion to help them. The way the chapter had described the process of transformation made her own bones shiver at the description of every word.

"Jane." Sierra sat up and walked towards her best friend. "Jane, wake up." She shook her lightly, causing the sleeping girl to stir.
"Siri, I'm going to hex you. Go to sleep."
"I can't. That's why I'm waking you up, doofus."

Jane reaches for her glasses, placing them carefully on her face and throws the pillow right at her. Sierra shakes her head and sits right next to her, not saying a word.

"You okay?" Sierra bit her lower lip and sighed before grabbing Jane's hands. "Siri."

"Promise me you won't get upset."

"Promise."

"I have a theory about Rena. And it's not a good one." With the look that Jane was giving her, Sierra wondered if she should go on with the conversation.

"Well?"

"I think Rena is a werewolf," Jane said nothing before bursting into a quiet laughter. Sierra crossed her arms, wanting to be as serious as she could be. "It's not a joke."

"Rena? A werewolf? Siri, the girl folds her socks and makes sure her pillow is extra fluffed before laying down."

"Can you just listen to me for a second." Jane waved her hand. "She's not here..."

"And I thought I needed glasses."

"Jane!" Sierra smacked her in the arm. "I'm being brutally serious right now. Rena is our best friend, and if I'm right..."

"Okay, okay. So say Rena is actually a werewolf. Might explain her disappearances that every full moon and her scars and the sudden irritability on days that she's not even going through woman hell...." Jane suddenly stopped. Sierra put her hands up in victory. "Bloody hell..."
"What's going on?" The two girls turn their heads."lumos" Petra was now sitting up on her bed, the tip of her wand lit. "You two are so loud."
"Petra, we need your opinion in something." Petra nodded and placed her wand on the floor to give some light to the room without waking their other roommate. "What would you say if I told you that we might think Rena... is well... a werewolf?" Petra stared at Sierra with wide eyes and shook her head.
"I kind... I kind of had a guess."
"WHAT?!" Jane leaned forward and covered Sierra's mouth with her hand. The three girls sat quietly, making sure no one had heard her.
"Whisper, Black." Jane let her go and wiped her hand on the bed sheet.
"Shut it, Potter. Petra, what do you mean 'you had a guess'?"
"Well when Jane and I did our assignment, I kind of just kept thinking about Rena... I didn't say anything cause I didn't want to be insulting. What if she's just really clumsy and she has scars to prove it? Or if Mrs.Lupin is actually really sick?"
"We should ask her."
"Oh yeah, totally, Sierra. What do you have a mind? Make a little card with werewolf jokes? Wear wolf ears and ask to be part of her pack?"
"It does sound nice."
"Petra. Not helping!"
