xii. strawberry milkshake
Strawberries.
No one really knows how it became the base of all flavours,
The red (not the blue, not the yellow) of the confectionery world,
Yet somehow it did.
And if
It could ever be personified and be brought to life,
You would be the epitome of strawberries.
For you were the basis of my bleak, hollow existence,
The very pillar that left me standing,
Breathing.
You were the one who injected me with a spell of giddiness,
A dose of sugar that only increased as time passed,
Made me giggle on gloomy days,
Grin on lonely nights,
You infected me with your warm, adorable smile
And you were not sorry
(But heck, so wasn't I).
And when I kissed you, you tasted of long, summer days
Of mornings playing hide and seek in the hay,
Of a simple child's life out on the farm,
And constantly laughing again and again and again and again and again and
I knew we had to be together
Forever.
Surprise!
And it's funny indeed how it turned out that
Even your blood, sticky and sweet, felt like a strawberry milkshake after all.
See you in the strawberry farms above, my love.
A/N: Hey guys. Hope you enjoyed this one. I'd just like to say that if anyone wants to suggest any food prompts, please don't feel afraid to do so. This one, as you can tell from the dedication, was from redvelvet8976 and I hope I did your prompt justice, Maryam. :)
