November
Lyric sighed as she erased her whiteboard. Her last class of the day had really tried her patience and she had no idea how the hell Killian managed to put up with all of this day after day. Teenagers were living nightmares. Especially when it was the last class of the day, on the last day of school before Thanksgiving break. Killian always ran his classroom like a Captain. He demanded the attention and respect of his students and Lyric was still struggling to grasp that. Having a child made her a lot more outspoken but she still struggled to keep her students in line.
Lyric walked around the room, putting things back into place.
"Excuse me, is this where I'm supposed to go for detention?" A familiar, and very missed voice said from behind her. Lyric turned around and grinned at her husband who she hadn't seen in almost two months.
"You see, I was late to class and-" Killian was cut off by Lyric launching herself at him and taking him to the floor kissing all over his scruffy face like she'd never see it again.
"Mrs. Jones, this is highly inappropriate. I'm only a student." Killian smirked.
"Shut up and Kiss me Killian." Lyric said.
"Well, when you put it that way.." Killian grinned and rolled them over. "How can I refuse love?" He asked and planted his lips on hers.
"Uh.. Mrs Jones?"
Lyrics eyes snapped open and she tilted her head back looking in horror as one of her students was standing in the classroom.
"I..uh I forgot my backpack." She said and hurried past Lyric and Killian who were still on the floor to pick up her backpack off the floor.
"Have..a good break Mrs Jones...and Mr. Jones.. I hope?" She said awkwardly.
"Aye, that would be me." Killian winked.
Lyric covered her face with her hands and groaned.
"Have a good break Marley, I'll see you in two weeks." She said. Marley nodded and hurried out of the classroom.
"Well its a good thing we didn't get very far." Killian smirked.
"Let me up, we have to go pick up Symphony from school." Lyric giggled as his scruff tickled her neck.
"Your father is getting her. We are having dinner over there tonight and I'm going to surprise her then. I just wanted some time alone with my wife." Killian winked.
"Well, lets have alone time. At home. Not in my classroom." Lyric smirked.
"It was my classroom first." Killian grinned.
"Well now its mine and things have changed. As in there are cameras in the classrooms now."
"Well then we'll give that old grouch Gold a show...or a heart attack." Killian chuckled.
"Killian Jones!" Lyric sighed
"That would be me." Killian smirked and stood up and helped Lyric up. "Fine. You win we will go home."
------------------------------------------------------------------
They no sooner got through the front door before Killian had Lyric pressed against the door with his lips on hers.
"I missed you." He said.
"I missed you too." Lyric smiled and bit her lip. Lennon ran over with his tail wagging wildly and pushed his way between them.
"Well hello Lennon." Killian sighed. "The poster dog for Leave Room for Jesus."
Lyric giggled.
"He missed you too."
Killian smiled and scratched Lennon's ears.
"We'll play later boy. I have some business to take care of first." Killian said.
"Business?" Lyric asked.
"Aye." Killian nodded and scooped Lyric up into his arms.
"Hello Business." he smirked.
----------------------------------------------------------
Lyric sighed contentedly as she laid her head on Killian's chest.
"I love you." She said.
"I love you too." Killian said and kissed the top of her head.
"When do you have to leave again?" Lyric asked.
"After Thanksgiving." Killian said.
"You're only here a week?" Lyric frowned.
"Aye love. I'm sorry.we're thinking if we take a short break this time, we'll have more time for Christmas." Killian smiled and then frowned at his wife's sad eyes.
"On facetime, its hard to tell because I know you don't like to be upset around Sym but.. Are you okay? Really okay?" Killian asked. "I Know this isn't easy for you."
"It has just been really hard Killian for both of us. We miss you. We're so proud of you but we miss you so much."
"I miss you guys too more than you could imagine. It won't be too much longer until Christmas and then after New Years we'll be on the road until March and then we are taking a break to work on new music."
"I Know. I understand that, its just harder to explain to an 8 year old." Lyric sighed.
"I know love. I'll talk to her again before I leave. Has..everything been okay here?" Killian asked.
"What do you mean?" Lyric asked. "Aside from Sym acting out a bit, and us missing you I think everything is fine." She said.
"Good." Killian smiled but Lyric could see something in his eyes. Fear?
"Killian what's wrong?" She asked.
Killian sighed.
"I've dealt with this before, the band gets popular, we get the fans and the media attention, but you..haven't dealt with this. We are selling out shows..like crazy now and the fans can get a little much and so can the press. I just worry they might bother you and Sym. I used to have people show up on my porch Lyric. I just don't want that to scare you."
"Well I'm not going to lie, I'm a little unsettled now Killian." Lyric said. "Not for myself but for Symphony. You don't think people would seriously follow us around do you?"
"I don't know. I try to keep you and Symphony out of interviews as much as possible for this reason." Killian said.
"Here I thought you just had a secret girlfriend and didn't want to let the world know you were married." Lyric smirked.
"Funny." Killian chuckled. "Seriously though if anything happens while I'm gone let me know. I don't want you and Sym being stalked by the crazies or the people looking to sell your photographs to every magazine."
"Are you going to get me a bodyguard?" Lyric smirked.
"If I have too." Killian said seriously.
"I..was kidding. I'd rather not have one of those following me around too." Lyric said. "I think we will be fine. We have security cameras and if it comes to it, We can stay with my parents while you are on the road. No one is going to mess with my mom." Lyric smiled. "Speaking of my parents we better get over there soon."
"Aye." Killian chuckled.
---------------------------------------------------------------
"Daddy!" Symphony shrieked and launched herself at Killian like a rocket as soon as he and Lyric walked into her parents house. Killian grinned and caught her.
"Hey princess."
"Killian is here!" Quin yelled.
"Why is no one this excited when I come over?" Lyric asked.
"We see you every day." Quin shrugged.
"Aye. I'm special." Killian smirked.
Lyric narrowed her eyes at him.
"Welcome home Killian." Sarah smiled and hugged him. "Darren hasn't stopped talking about this tour since you left."
"Well, he's most of the reason we are able to do this so we can't thank him enough for the opportunity. I never imagined this would happen again. It was dumb luck the first time around."
"Careful, you'll make him want to get our band back together." Sarah chuckled.
"I really don't think Dad can pull off the green mohawk anymore." Lyric cringed.
"Don't tempt me." Darren said as he entered the room from the kitchen and hugged Lyric.
"At least someone is happy to see me." Lyric smiled. "Even if he sees me every day." she said and stuck her tongue out at her little brother. Quin made a face at her.
"Dad can Sym and I play Nintendo until dinner?" Quin asked.
"Sure." Darren smiled. Sym and Quin squealed and took off towards the game room.
"No fighting!" Lyric called after them.
Killian watched them go down the hall and looked at Lyric.
"Do you want to go play nintendo too?" She asked.
"I will go supervise." Killian shrugged. "And...maybe crush some children in MarioCart." Killian said and walked down the hallway after the children.
At the dinner table that evening, Lyric felt Killian's foot brush against her leg. She raised an eyebrow and looked up at him and he pointed at his phone at the table. Lyric picked up her phone and turned it over and looked at the incredibly dirty text message from her husband and almost choked on her drink.
"You okay love?" Killian asked and winked.
"Oh.. yeah you know, wrong pipe." Lyric said and cleared her throat. Killian grinned and rested his face in his hand leaning on the table slightly giving her the look. Two could play at that game. Lyric flipped her hair a little and bit her lip raising her eyebrows at him.
"I Understand you two haven't seen each other in a while, but if you could stop giving my daughter the bedroom eyes while I'm sitting at the table, that would be great." Darren groaned.
Lyric blushed and looked down at her plate glancing just for a moment at Killian to see a small flush creep over his cheeks.
"Grandpa what are bedroom eyes?" Symphony asked. This time it was Killian who choked on his water.
"Your dad is just sleepy Sym thats all it means." Lyric smiled sweetly at her daughter hoping she would pick up on it.
"He looks squiffy." Symphony grinned. "Like he had too much grape juice. The kind I can't drink."
"Where did you learn squiffy?" Lyric asked and glared at Killian.
"Don't look at me." Killian said.
"Uncle Liam! Duh!" Symphony sighed. "He deals with squiffy people all the time." She shrugged. "At least thats what he says."
"And that is the last time I take Sym to the bar after school to see Liam." Lyric sighed.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Lyric smiled from the couch as she watched Killian help their daughter build a pillow fort in the living room. They were getting ready for a movie night, Lyric was catching up on grading some papers when suddenly a pillow hit her right in the face.
"Hey!" She grumbled and narrowed her eyes at her daughter, who quickly pointed the finger at her father.
"It was him!" She said.
"Wow, i did not raise you to be a tattletale." Killian smirked.
"Mom did." Sym grinned.
"Killian I'm working here." Lyric sighed.
"Well, quit working and get down here to watch this movie with us."
"Good luck with that, Dad. She's always working." Sym mumbled.
"When did I go from Daddy to Dad?" Killian frowned.
"About when I went from Mommy, to Mom. Just wait for dude, or bruh. Do you know how many of my students call me bruh?" Lyric asked.
"Well thats cringeworthy." Killian shuddered.
"Tell me about it." Lyric nodded and looked back down at her computer.
"What are you even grading right now? Its Thanksgiving break." Killian said.
"Last weeks reports." Lyric sighed. "I'm a bit behind."
"How are you going to grade whatever they are working on over break?" Killian asked.
"By not giving them an assignment over break. Its break for a reason Killian." Lyric said.
"I always gave you guys assignments over break, to keep you busy." Killian smirked.
"And we just absolutely loved you for it." Lyric gave him a cheeky grin.
"Your sarcasm is showing darling." Killian said. "Now, put up the laptop and get down here in this pillow fort and watch frozen two."
Lyric just blinked at him.
"You better listen mom. Dads the boss." Sym said.
"Oh, Dad is back for a day and suddenly he's the boss?" Lyric asked and closed her laptop.
"I'm always the boss." Killian shrugged. Lyric picked up the pillow that he had previously thrown at her and launched it at him.
"You got her to close her computer!" Sym gasped. Lyric turned to her daughter.
"Listen you, where did you get this sass?" She asked.
"Grandma says I come by it naturally." Sym stated proudly.
Lyric chuckled and shook her head.
"Come on Mom, dad is home! Watch the movie with us!" Sym pleaded.
"Okay, okay Lets go make movie snacks first." Lyric said.
"Yes!" Sym grinned and ran to the kitchen ahead of them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
December
"I'm so excited!" Sarah grinned and embraced her daughter.
"Owch careful mom." Lyric said and rubbed her arm gingerly. Lyric had just had her birth control taken out and planned to surprise Killian with the news that she was ready to add to their little family when he came home.
"I'm excited too. I feel like its finally time." Lyric smiled. "Sym is excited too, she wants a brother but said a sister would be okay too."
"Are you going to let her help with the name?" Darren asked. "Sparkles McKenna Jones sounds lovely." He smirked.
"Again, I was SIX!" Lyric groaned. "And yes I plan to let her help whenever I get pregnant." Lyric smiled. She was thrilled at the idea of adding to the family and she knew Killian would be ecstatic as he had wanted this for so long.
"When is Killian supposed to be coming home?" Sarah asked.
"He's supposed to be on a flight December 20th so next week!" Lyric grinned.
"Sym will be so happy. She was heartbroken when he had to leave after thanksgiving." Darren frowned.
"It seems to be getting harder every time he leaves." Lyric frowned. Sym had taken it especially hard this last time. She cried for two nights, and slept in Lyrics bed with her with one of Killians old tee shirts as a nightshirt. She'd call him and fall asleep to him singing to her and it was both the sweetest and saddest thing Lyric had seen.
"Where is Sym?" Sarah asked.
"She's with Liam and the twins Christmas shopping for Abby and Killian and you guys" Lyric smiled. "She wanted to use her own money to buy Christmas presents for You guys, Quin and Killian."
"How sweet!" Sarah gushed. "Remember when Lyric used to do that?"
"I do." Darren chuckled. "I still have all the ties she bought me."
"I'm pretty sure it was the same time every year Dad." Lyric laughed.
"It was. But I have the best collection of the same 10 blue ties." Darren grinned.
Lyric shook her head and smiled.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyric was in the middle of her fourth class of the day when the secretary paged into the classroom.
"Mrs. Jones, the elementary school is on line one for you...again." She said. Lyric cringed.
Symphony McKenna Jones you will be the death of me..
"Okay thank you.." She sighed. Her kid would have a record at this school before even getting here at this rate.
"Excuse me guys... I have to take this." Lyric said apologetically to her class and walked into her office to take the call.
"This is Mrs. Jones.." She said.
"Mrs. Jones..we have Symphony in the office again, there was a problem in class. She's being sent home for the day."
"Sent home? Why?" Lyric asked.
"She cut Alexandria's hair Mrs. Jones." The principal sighed. "This is three times this week we've had an issue so she is being sent home."
"Okay I understand, its just I teach at the High school, you know this I can't come get her. My parents are both working and her father is halfway across the country."
"Someone will have to pick her up. What about William Scarlet? He's on the list."
"I'll give him a call. I'm really sorry about this, she's having trouble adjusting to her father not being here right now."
"We understand Mrs. Jones. We see this often."
Lyric sighed.
"I'll call Will. Thank you.." She said and hung up the phone and pulled her cellphone from her back pocket and dialed Will.
"Hey Lyric." Will answered.
"Hey... I need you to do me a huge favor..if you aren't busy."
"Not busy, just at home watching the tele today."
"Good.. I need you to get Sym from school again. She's..cut Ashley's kids hair." Lyric groaned and then rolled her eyes at Will laughing on the other end of the line.
"Its not funny Scarlet."
"It is, because you were such a goodie two shoes and your kid is as devious as they come." Will chuckled. "I'll go get her. We'll have a talk."
"Okay.. just be nice she's having a rough time without Killian here."
"I know love. I got it." Will said.
"Thanks a billion Will."
"Anytime." Will said and hung up.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Will walked into the office to sign Symphony out.
"Uncle Will!" Symphony grinned and hugged him.
"Hey kid. We gotta stop meeting like this." He said and pulled her in for a bear hug.
"I never get to see you anymore so... I get creative." Symphony shrugged.
"So I've heard." Will said and raised an eyebrow at her. "Lets go."
Symphony followed Will outside and to his car.
"Sooo where are we going?"
"We're going to talk first and then I'll decide." Will smirked.
"Why?" Sym sighed. "Theres not much to talk about."
"Because I told you're mum we'd chat." Will shrugged. "And I think theres quite a bit you have to talk about or you wouldn't have gave Alex a haircut just to hang out with me."
Symphony just shrugged her shoulders and got in the car.
"So why'd you cut her hair?" Will asked as he got in the car.
"Because she kept flipping it in my face. I sit behind her. I told her to stop and she wouldn't so I cut a chunk of it off." Sym grinned.
"Brutal." Will said.
"Well I bet she won't do it again." Sym shrugged.
"I would hope not or the poor lass will be bald." Will said. Sym cackled.
"You laugh it out now, you're mum is pretty upset though." Will said. Sym stopped laughing and frowned.
"I bet." She sighed.
"She's just worried about you Kid. She knows you're having a rough go at it without your dad here. I'm sure she just wishes you'd find another way to express it."
"Probably..Alex had it coming though. What would you have done Uncle Will?"
Will chuckled.
"I aint gonna lie and say I wouldn't have done the same thing, because I would have, but your mum...she is all about using words instead of actions when you're upset. I never found it to be as effective as a good knock to someone's noggin."
Symphony grinned.
"But.." Will said.
"Theres always a but.." Symphony sighed.
"I recognize that doing things that way, is not the right way. Your mum, she's smart. She keeps out of trouble because of it, and she wants you to do the same, honestly I do too. It would kill me, to see you end up in some of the situations I did because of my actions Sym."
"It was just a little piece of hair uncle Will." Sym sighed.
"Thats how it starts, next thing you know you're punching someone in the face, or shoplifting because you're trying to get your mums attention and thats not the way to do that. So maybe try to just talk to her, let her know what is going on."
Symphony's eyes welled over.
"I just want my dad home. I miss him, and mom is always working and doesn't have time.. I feel so alone Uncle Will."
"You aren't alone love, you're never alone. Your mum is just trying to keep everything together for you guys while your dad is on the road. Sometimes she gets a little wrapped up in what she's doing and she needs a reminder to settle down and breathe. You can do that right?"
Sym wiped tears from her eyes and nodded.
"I think so."
"Good. And even when she's busy, you have me, and Tink, Jefferson AND Victor you've got a lot of people who would stop their world from turning just to see you smile kid, so don't go thinking you've got no one."
Symphony unbuckled her seatbelt and threw herself at him hugging him and crying into his shirt
"I love you uncle Will."
"Love you too kid." Will said and sniffled.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sym and Lyric were at her parents house helping them and Quin decorate their tree when Lyric's phone started ringing.
"Oh, Its your dad!" Lyric said. "Lets see if he's about to be on his flight!"
"Yes!" Symphony squealed. Lyric answered the face time request and sat down on the couch.
"Hey!" She beamed.
"Hello loves." Killian smiled.
"Hi Daddy!" Symphony said as she practically climbed on Lyric to get into the frame.
"Hey princess." Killian chuckled. "What are you guys up to?" He asked.
"We're decorating the tree at Grandpas house!" Sym said excitedly. "Wanna see?"
"You bet I do!" Killian said. Lyric turned the camera so Killian could see their progress on the tree.
"Wow it looks great guys!"
"Thanks Killian!" Sarah called. Lyric turned the camera back.
"When is your flight?" She asked. Killian frowned and scratched behind his ear.
"Aye.. well about that."
"I don't like the sounds of that..." Lyric said as she felt her heart drop.
"Theres a bad snow storm coming in, and they've canceled my flight. I'm so sorry love."
"Well thats okay Dad, you can get on a plane tomorrow and still be here for Christmas Eve!" Sym said.
"I wish it were that easy sweetheart, I really do. They're saying it could be a few days before they can get a flight because of the weather." Killian frowned.
"But that means.." Sym frowned.
"I won't be there until after Christmas. I'm so sorry Sym."
Symphony let out a little cry and got off of the couch and ran down the hall towards her room for when she stayed with her grandparents.
"Sym!" Killian called. "Oh.. bloody hell." Killian sighed.
"Killian its okay, I understand, and deep down she does too, she's just upset right now is all." Lyric explained.
"I hate seeing her cry like that Lyric, its awful."
"I know, Its going to be okay, we would both rather have you home in one piece than risk your life on a flight in bad weather."
"Aye.." Killian said. There were suddenly a few girls practically shrieking behind Killian.
"What is that?" Lyric asked.
"Fans." Killian said. "I'm sorry love, I've gotta go before I'm swamped. I'll call again tonight and try to talk to Sym."
"Okay, Love you." Lyric said.
"Love you too darling." Killian said and hung up.
Lyric sighed heavily and sat back against the couch with her face in her hands.
"Your dad went to go talk with Sym, its going to be okay Lyric. I know its upsetting but its for the best if there is bad weather comining in." Sarah said and sat down beside her daughter, watching Quin wrap the tree in tinsel.
"I know..I just can't help but wonder if this was all a mistake." Lyric mumbled.
"What do you mean?" Sarah asked.
Lyric sat up a little and folded her legs underneath her.
"Before Killian started this, he told me if I didn't want him to do it all I had to do was say the word.."
"But you couldn't, because you know how much it means to him." Sarah said and brushed her daughters hair from her eyes.
"Exactly." Lyric sighed. "But this..its just getting so hard, and Sym she doesn't understand. She needs him home. But at the same time, how could I ever ask him to give all this up when it means so much to him?"
"I know its hard Lyric, but Sym is only upset for the moment once she settles down it will be okay. Killian needs this, just like your father needed it when I wanted to stop the band after you were born. My feelings were temporary, and so are Symphony's and so are the feelings you are feeling right now, don't make a permanent decision on temporary feelings Lyric. Killian will be home for a while before you know it making new music."
"And then he'll be gone again." Lyric frowned and wiped a tear from her eyes. "Its just so hard mom."
"I know baby." Sarah frowned. "It won't be this way forever. You and Sym can go on the road with him all summer and that will change everything, you'll see for yourself how much it all means to him and you'll understand. Sym will too. Its going to be okay, I promise."
"Thanks mom." Lyric smiled a little.
Darren walked back up the hallway.
"She's wanting to stay in there for a while, she needs space." He said.
"Should we wait to finish the tree?" Quin asked.
"She said we should finish it." Darren sighed.
Quin frowned and shrugged.
"Okay I guess.." He said and went back to getting himself tangled in the tinsel while Sarah laughed and took pictures.
When Sym and Lyric got back to their house, Lyric was determined to lift her childs spirits.
"Why don't we set up our tree? We can leave it up until your dad gets home."
"Whats the point? It wont be christmas when he gets here." Sym sighed.
"Okay... well Rudolph is on tonight, why don't we bake cookies and make hot chocolate?" Lyric smiled and brushed her daughters hair out of her eyes.
Sym shook her head.
"I'm just going to go play in my room..." She said.
"Sym, baby I'm trying here." Lyric said.
"I know..Thanks anyways." Symphony mumbled and dragged herself up the stairs. Lyric sighed defeatedly and looked at the christmas tree that was still in the storage container. Even she...who lived and breathed Christmas every year didn't want to put it up. It didn't feel right, not without Killian here.
----------------------------------------------------------
Killian sat in the crowded airport full of grumpy people. He should have just rode with the rest of the guys, who were by now probably out of danger of the winter storm he just thought it would be quicker to get home and spend more time with his family if he took a plane now, he was stuck and his daughter was disappointed and it was the worst feeling in the world.
"Killian..."
Killian froze, not wanting to turn around. It was a voice he hadn't heard for years upon years, and it was a voice he didn't care to hear again. He didn't even want to turn around.
"Killian..." The voice said again. Killian turned his head and looked at the man standing beside him.
"Brennan." He scoffed.
"A bit formal don't you think son?" Brennan asked.
"Don't call me that. You don't get to call me that!" Killian hissed.
"You're entitled to your anger...what I did to you and your brother was terrible." Brennan frowned.
"You bloody left us, not even a month after mum passed! Liam was 15. 15 years old raising an 8 year old!" Killian snapped.
"I know-"
"What are you even doing here? How did you find me?"
"Well... I wasn't exactly looking. This is purely coincidental...but I figure it must be fate. I've...been thinking of you and Liam a lot lately." Brennan said.
"Why? You run out of money?" Killian scoffed. "You're barking up the wrong tree."
"No..regret mostly. What I did to you and your brother...its unforgivable. I understand that, and I want to apologize for all the pain and misery I caused."
Killian never thought he'd hear those words, honestly he never thought he'd see his father again.
"Whats done is done." Killian said and turned away from him. "Now, if you'll excuse me I'm trying to think of a way to get home to my child who is very upset that I might not make it home in time for christmas."
"You have children?"
"Aye. One, a daughter, 8." Killian replied. "It just makes me wonder all the more..how you left Liam and I, Its crushing me that I may not spend Christmas with my wife and daughter I could never imagine leaving her forever."
Brennan sighed and sat down next to Killian.
"I regret it every day. I regret not getting a chance to know the man you became." He said.
"I'm glad you regret it." Killian said.
"I..was about to start driving I got a rental car I think If I leave early enough I may beat the storm." Brennan said.
"Good for you." Killian said.
"Killian.. Why don't you come with me? We could be in Storybrooke by Christmas Eve." Brennan suggested.
"Why would I do that?" Killian asked. "Go anywhere with you?"
"I fucked up Killian. Let me at least try to make it up to you by making sure you see your little girl for Christmas. Don't let your stubbornness stop you from getting home. You don't even have to talk to me, and I won't stick around if you don't want. Just let me do this one thing for you."
Killian picked up his bag.
"We'll get to Storybrooke by Christmas Eve?"
"Aye." Brennan smiled.
"Fine but I am only doing this for my daughter."
"Understood." Brennan nodded.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Christmas Eve
"You have a beautiful home." Brennan said as he pulled up in front of Killian's house. "Looks dark though."
"Lyric and Symphony are probably at her parents for dinner. I'll surprise them when they get here. Thanks for the ride." Killian said and started getting out of the car.
"Killian wait.." Brennan said.Killian sighed and turned to him
"What?"
"I missed so much.. Is there anyway..anyway at all you will let me into your life?" Brennan asked. "I want to meet your family."
"I don't know.." Killian said. "Sym.. she's very sensitive. And she gets attached easily. I don't know if I feel comfortable with you in her life if you decide to leave again." Killian said.
"Aye... thats fair. Well.. if you ever change your mind..." Brennan said and handed him a business card.
Killian looked at the card.
"You're a lawyer....fitting." He sighed.
"Also fair." Brennan sighed.
"I will let you go..but if you ever need anything...anything at all do not hesitate to call me. Give it to Liam too."
"Sure.." Killian nodded. "Well.. see you." He added as he got out of the car and grabbed his bag from the trunk before walking up the walk way to the house.
Killian unlocked the door and walked inside flipping on the lights. He expected christmas lights and decorations, he expected a tree decorated to the brim but it was still in the storage box. Lennon padded over to him wagging his tale.
"What is with the humbug here boy?" Killian asked. Lennon just whined. "Its just dreadful." Killian frowned and then smiled down at Lennon scratching his ears. "What do you say we fix this before the ladies get home?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lyric sighed as she watched Sym sitting in the window at her parents house just watching the snow. She didn't even want to play outside in it with Quin earlier. Killian not being home for Christmas this year was just devastating to her. Christmas was Symphony's favorite holiday and she loved their little family traditions the most. Lyric could agree that it didn't feel right without Killian here but she wished her little girl didn't look so broken hearted.
"Sym Dinner is almost done okay?" Lyric called.
"Okay Mom." Sym said.
"Sym come watch A Christmas Story with me!" Quin whined.
"I don't want to Quin."
"All you've done all day is stare out the stupid window.." Quin grumbled.
"Quin, leave Symphony be." Sarah sighed.
"Lyric will you watch it with me?" Quin pleaded.
"Sure." Lyric nodded and sat down.
Darren walked over to Sym with a plate of chocolate cookies. Sym looked at him skeptically, usually she got in trouble for sneaking cookies before dinner.
"Grandma will be mad." She said.
"I will deal with Grandma's wrath if I get one single smile out of you today." Darren said and held the plate out. Symphony gave him a small smile and took a cookie.
"Dad.." Lyric sighed.
"You hush." Darren said.
During dinner Sym was quiet. Usually she was the life of the party at Holiday dinners. Lyric watched her push food around the plate.
"Sym, baby eat please." Lyric begged.
"I'm not really hungry mom. I want to go home."
Sarah and Darren frowned.
Lyric sighed heavily.
"I'll put some food in tupperware for you two later." Sarah said and went to the kitchen to put some food up for them.
"Are you sure? Usually after dinner, you and Quin get Hot chocolate, and cookies and watch Frosty." Lyric frowned.
"I'm sure. I'm kinda tired." Symphony shrugged.
"Well.. okay we can go home." Lyric nodded.
----------------------------------------------------------
Lyric pulled up in the driveway and sighed at the dark house. She almost didn't want to go in.
"Come on Sym." She said as she got out of the car. Sym joined her and they walked up to the door. Lyric unlocked the door and flipped on the light.
Symphony gasped startling Lyric. Lyric looked up and in turn gasped at the fully decorated living room and the Christmas tree.
"How did you do this Mom? I never saw you leave Grandma and Grandpa's." Symphony said.
"I didn't do this Sym."
Symphony put her hands on her hips.
"Don't even try to tell me it was Santa."
"Bring the sass down about 20 percent missy." Lyric said raising her eyebrows "I have no idea who did this."
"Uncle Liam?" Sym suggested.
"Maybe.."
"Nah.. Liam could never do all this." Killian said as he stepped out of the kitchen.
"Killian??" Lyric gasped.
"Daddy!" Sym screamed and ran to him she jumped up and Killian caught her but dropped to his knees with her in his arms as she sobbed into his shirt.
"Daddy..I thought you werent going to make it." She said.
"I know sweetheart but I'm here now. Its okay.." Killian said rocking her in his arms.
"I missed you so much." Symphony said.
"I missed you too love." Killian said.
"How.. on earth did you manage this?" Lyric asked.
"Its...a very long story for another day." Killian chuckled and held Sym out so he could look at her.
"What do you say we dry those tears and bake some cookies?" He asked.
"Yes!" Sym cheered.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Lyric watched Sym sleeping, and smiled. Killian came up the hall with his phone in his hand.
"Sorry love, that was Robin, Gina went into Labor. So... looks like we are taking an extended break for a couple months."
"Ah We do love Christmas miracles." Lyric giggled and wrapped her arms around her husband.
"Aye that we do. I was getting homesick." Killian chuckled.
"So...I have something for you..an early Christmas present if you will." Lyric smiled.
Killian raised his eyebrows and bit his lip.
"No.. not that at least not yet." Lyric smirked and pushed the sleeve of her shirt up to show him the still healing incision from her birth control removal.
"Bloody hell Lyric what did you do to your arm??" Killian gasped and held her arm.
"I didn't do anything. My doctor did. I...got my birth control removed." Killian's eyes widened and he turned his head slowly to her.
"Seriously?" He asked.
"Seriously. I know you've been wanting to expand our family.. And I'm ready to do that." Lyric smiled.
Killian lifted her up and spun her around.
"This is quite literally the best Christmas gift you could have gotten me." Killian grinned and kissed her.
"Merry Christmas Mr. Jones." Lyric smiled and kissed him back.
