Chapter 9 Beam Me Up

A/N: This was a difficult chapter to write. Its emotional, and I've had a rough week as is but I think it helped contribute to the emotions in this chapter, cried the whole way through writing it.  Anyways I hope you like this chapter. Nobody hate me for making you feel the feels, and after having some problems with negativity in my comments, I feel like I need to remind everyone to be respectful in the comments, if my stories aren't your thing, thats cool, don't read them.

Killian sat in the small hospital room in a chair right beside Lyric watching her sleep, everything had happened so fast he hadn't even had time to process what had happened and no matter how hard he tried to get them out of his head, Lyrics agonizing sobs when the doctors informed them that they had lost the baby played through his brain on repeat.

"No, you don't understand I just heard the heartbeat today!" Lyric practically screamed at the doctor.
"I'm terribly sorry, I know this is hard to hear." The doctor replied trying his best to stay calm.
Killian had never seen Lyric like this. Lyric shook her head.
"I'm going to a different hospital." She said and started trying to take the I.V. out of her arm herself. Killian stood up and grabbed her hand.
"Lyric, love stop. They are trying to help." He said, his voice was breaking.
"They aren't helping! My baby is not gone!" She screamed at him slapping at his hand.
"Lyric, stop." Killian said holding her hands. "Stop." he repeated
"SHE DID THIS!" Lyric screeched wiggling away from him trying to get out of the bed but the pain she was in was too much. A nurse approached and went to put something in Lyrics IV but Lyric started swinging.
"Lyric!" Killian shouted as a couple of other nurses held her arms down while she screamed. "Stop you are hurting her!" Killian growled trying to get in between the nurses.
"Sir, we are trying to help her, if she gets up shes going to hurt herself."
"What the bloody hell are you doing to her?" Killian demanded watching them put something in the IV
"Giving her something for the pain, it will make her sleep. We are going to keep her overnight. You can stay, if you can let us do our job." The doctor replied. Killian sank back into the chair feeling helpless while Lyric screamed
"She killed my baby!"

Those last words, before Lyric fell asleep were stuck in his brain. Anna was crazy, there was no doubt about it, but was she crazy enough to do this purposely? Surely not..she didn't even know about the baby until now, But there was still the thought in the back of his mind. What if she did?
Killian looked up as Darren and Sarah came into the room.
"Where's the little ones?" Killian asked.
"Our Nephew Eric is in town with his wife and their daughter Melody they are with him. I didn't want to bring Sym in here..We got here as soon as we could." Darren said looking at his daughter, even sleeping she looked so broken. Sarah pushed Lyrics hair off her tear stained cheeks.
"What happened?" She asked.
"Well.." Killian said and cleared his throat. "Lyric brought me the recording of the heartbeat, and I went to put it in my office and when I got back, Lyric wanted to leave. Anna and her stepped forward at the same time and Lyric tripped and fell into the counter and she collapsed on the floor in pain. So I brought her here and.." He sighed heavily his eyes welled over.
"They said there was nothing they could do.. And Lyric, I've never seen her so upset. She tried to punch the nurses, she was screaming that Anna killed the baby and then they gave her something for the pain and it knocked her out."
"Where is Anna?" Sarah asked.
"Shes in the waiting room..."
"You don't think its the least bit suspicious that Lyric just happened to trip over Anna's foot?" Sarah questioned.
"Sarah.." Darren sighed.
"What? That day she came over, I knew she was crazy. I wouldn't put it past her, and if she did this then she needs to be held accountable for it!" Sarah said "The police need to know. It's murder."
"Anna didn't know about the pregnancy until this happened." Killian said.
"Are you sure of that?" Darren asked.
Killian sighed. "No... I just don't know okay? I'm trying to piece this all together myself.. That was my baby too."
"You should have left that woman before you started this!" Sarah spat.
"I know!" Killian shouted. "I fucking know okay?!" Killian stood up. "I..need a minute." He said stepping out of the room.

He walked into the waiting room where Liam was just walking in. The only thing Liam knew was Lyric was going to the hospital so when he saw his younger brother pacing with his head in his hands, he knew something was horribly wrong. He approached his brother slowly.
"Killian.." He said. Killian stopped and turned around and crumbled to pieces. Liam embraced his brother.
"I am so sorry Killian.." he said softly.
After a few minutes Killian was trying to regain his composure He walked over to the coffee pot and poured some coffee and raised the cup in his shaking hands to his lips taking a sip.
"How is she?" Liam asked.
"Not well." Killian mumbled. "Shes sleeping. They are keeping her overnight.."
Anna approached.
"Are you ready to go home?" She asked Killian sounding bored. Her lack of empathy for this whole situation should have been Killian's first clue that not all was what it seemed with Anna. She wasn't upset over the affair, and she didn't seem to care one way or the other about Lyric.
"Home? No.. Anna I'm staying here." Killian said "If you want to go.. Go."
"Why? I mean theres nothing more they can do for her, the baby is gone. We can go back to our lives." Anna said.
"Christ what is the matter with you?!" Killian shouted. "That is my unborn child."
"Was." Anna corrected him. "Come on Killy..lets just go."
"Did you.. Did you do this?" Killian asked "Did you trip her on purpose?!"
"Shes not good for you Killian, not like I am. I did it for us." Anna said smiling, she reached out to touch his shoulder.
Liam had to jump into action quickly as Killian lunged at Anna. He held his brother back with all the strength he had.
"You crazy bitch!" Killian shouted. "Let me go!" He growled at Liam.
Liam stared at Anna coldly. "I'd leave while you can and the only reason I am letting you leave is because I love my brother and I don't want to see him in prison."
Anna scoffed and rolled her eyes as Liam pulled Killian away.
Sarah stepped into view. She knew that Anna had done something, so she had stayed hidden recording the whole thing on her cellphone. She tucked her cellphone into her pocket and approached Anna.
"You..may not remember me." She said. "You know..Lyrics mother."
"And?" Anna asked. Sarah reared back and slapped Anna across the face hard enough to where everyone in the waiting room jumped and turned to look.
"You come near my daughter, ever again and there won't be anywhere you can hide do you understand me?" Sarah spat. Anna nodded holding the side of her face backing away from Sarah. There was a police car pulling up outside of the hospital.
"I figured you had something to do with this and I called the police and then I recorded you confessing to it on my cell phone."
Anna tried to run but didn't make it far before she was caught by one officer while Sarah talked to the other one.

Lyric had been awake for a few hours now, the physical pain wasn't as bad, but that was possibly because of the pain medication. Killian was in the chair next to the bed and her parents were in the other two chairs in the room the only sound in the room was the sound of Lyric sniffling and whimpering, she hadn't done anything but cry since she woke up, and she wouldn't talk with anyone except to ask if Symphony could be brought to the hospital. She just wanted to hold her daughter, so Eric and Ariel brought Symphony to the hospital, Ariel stayed in the car with their daughter and Lyrics brother while Eric brought Symphony to the room. Symphony didn't understand the situation or why her mother was crying. She held her mother's hand and looked up at Killian.
"Can I lay with mommy?" She asked. Killian nodded and lifted her up and gently placed her beside Lyric, who rolled over on her side and embraced her daughter.
"Its okay mommy..don't cry." Symphony said sweetly.
Eric crouched down so he could see Lyric's face.
"Hey Ricky.." he said softly. Lyric hated that nickname when they were kids, but it gave her a little bit of comfort at the moment.
"Hey.." she said quietly and snuggled Symphony.
"Ariel and I will be in town for a few weeks, Mel has been asking about you nonstop." He said. Lyric gave him a small smile. He stepped back to give her some space. No one knew what to do in this situation. There was nothing anyone could say to make her feel better.

-------------------------------------------------------

The next day Lyric was sitting up in bed pushing around the food on the tray with her fork. Symphony was asleep in Killians lap.
"Lyric love you've gotta eat." Killian pleaded with her. "They won't let you leave until you eat."
"Did..they arrest Anna?" Lyric asked.
"Aye." Killian nodded. "I had no idea she would do this Lyric.."
"I know.." Lyric mumbled. "Can you see if they will give me more meds? I..want to go back to sleep."
"You need to eat." Killian said.
"I'm not hungry.. And this is prison food.. I just want to go home."
"If I can get Liam to bring you something will you eat?" Killian asked.
"Killian I'm in pain, I'm nauseous. I don't want to eat, I just want to get out of this God damned hospital, and sleep in my bed." Killian sighed and put Symphony in the chair with a pillow and blanket.
"I will see what I can do." He said before he left the room.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Lyric was finally released from the hospital and home with a few prescriptions. She was in her room sleeping and Killian was playing with Symphony in the living room. He hadn't been in his own house, longer than to shower and change his clothes, he wanted to be here for Symphony, and Lyric if she needed him. They hadn't really talked about what happened much, Lyric hadn't said much at all.
"Daddy?" Symphony asked. Killian looked up kind of confused he didn't know at that point that Lyric had told her.
"Mommy said you were.." Symphony said.
"Oh.. well.." Killian said and scratched behind his ear. "I am. Are you cool with that?"
Symphony nodded and smiled at him. Killian returned her smile.
"Is..mommy going to be sad forever?" Symphony asked.
Killian sighed.
"Well, not forever, but she may be for a little while."
"Are you going to stay?" Symphony asked.
"As long as I can." Killian smiled.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Symphony was down for the night and Killian walked into Lyrics room to check on her. She was sitting up in bed with her laptop and her headphones on. She looked up at him and pulled her headphones off.
"Everything okay?" She asked.
"Yeah.. yeah Sym is down." Killian said. "I..just wanted to check on you. What are you doing?" He asked.
"I..don't know if you want to know.." Lyric frowned. Killian walked over and sat on the bed beside her looking at the computer screen at the ultrasound pictures.
"Love..you are torturing yourself." He frowned.
"I'm just trying to make sense of it." Lyric said her voice cracked. "Our baby had little arms. Little legs..and now.. There's nothing." Lyric's eyes welled. "It's all gone."
Killian pulled Lyric to him holding her while she cried.
He rested his chin on the top of her head.
"Why would she do this? I understand she hated me.. But to do this? I just don't get it." Lyric sobbed.
"I don't know. I wish I did Lyric. I could have killed her. If Liam didn't stop me.. I wouldn't be sitting here with you." Killian sighed.
"As much as she deserves it, I'm glad you didn't.." Lyric said.
"Me too." Killian sighed. "She'll get what she deserves i'm sure."
Lyric nodded. Killian reached over and closed the laptop and took her headphones off he carried the laptop to her desk and noticed the sandwich he brought her earlier was untouched.
"You were supposed to eat this." he sighed.
"I wasn't hungry." Lyric shrugged.
"You haven't eaten anything in almost two days, I just.. I don't want a repeat of last time."
Lyric sighed.
"Last time, I was 17, a highly stressed high school senior and my parents flipped out and told me I wasn't allowed to see you anymore and I had a stomach ulcer. This is completely different Killian. I am grieving and on top of all that, my levels haven't gone all the way back down. I'm still having pregnancy symptoms even though I am no longer pregnant do you understand how that feels? I will eat, when I can stomach food but that is just not right now and I need you to stop freaking out over a sandwich!"
Killian put his hands up.
"Okay. Okay.. I'm just worried about you Lyric thats all we have our own ways of dealing with this. Mine is making sure you are okay. "
Lyric put her head in her hands.
"I know.. I'm sorry I'm still snappy and I don't want to be. I just want to curl up and go back to sleep.." She sniffled and pulled her blanket over her head.
" its okay love, I'll leave you be." Killian sighed. Lyric peeked out of the blanket.
"Can..you stay?" She asked.
"You want me to stay?" Killian asked. "In the room?"
"Yeah." Lyric replied and pulled back the blankets so he could climb in. Killian smiled and walked over to the bed and climbed in wrapping her up in his arms
Symphony came running into the room.
"I thought you were asleep." Killian said raising his eyebrow at the child.
"I pretended." Sym said cutely. "Can I sleep in here?"
Lyric sat up a little and pat the bed between her and Killian. Symphony climbed up in the bed between them and yawned as she snuggled into them.
"Can it be like this forever?" She asked. Killian and Lyric's eyes met. He wanted to say yes. He wanted this forever, but there was uncertainty in Lyrics eyes.
"Goodnight Sym." Lyric said softly and looked back up at Killian.
"Night.." She said giving him a sad smile.
"Goodnight." Killian replied.
Symphony and Lyric drifted to sleep long before he did, he was content just to hold them, to watch them, because he didn't know how much longer he would get these moments with his girls.
