Chapter 15 Her Diamonds

A/N: Hope you enjoy the chapter :)

"Lyric just let me help you." Darren sighed as he followed Lyric up the hall watching her struggle to get Symphony's to sit still long enough to get her shoes on.
"I've got it Dad!" Lyric snapped and managed to grab hold of Symphony's hand to stop her She knelt down and tried to wrestle Symphony's shoes on as she held onto her hand to keep her from running. She was beginning to be able to grasp things with her left hand again the only problem was the ability to do so would come and go without warning.
Symphony whined and pulled trying to get away.
"What has gotten into you this morning?" Lyric groaned
"The physical therapist said that he thought you were pushing yourself to hard and it was slowing the healing process down, so let me help, let your mother help. Let Killian help just stop being so damn stubborn Lyric." Darren grumbled.
"Dad really, I've got th-" Lyric started but Symphony pulled hard and Lyric's hand gave out. Symphony fell face first into the decorative table in the hallway bumping her head.
"Oh God!" Lyric gasped. Symphony exploded into tears Darren hurried over and picked her up
"I thought I had her.." Lyric said frantically as Darren pushed Symphony's hair out of her face to see exactly what he expected, a little bump from the fall. He bounced Symphony in his arms while she wailed.
"How bad is it?" Lyric asked trying to get a look.
"Just a little bump." Darren said. "Believe me, you've had worse. We used to call you crash. There wasn't a surface in the house that you didn't bang your head on." Darren chuckled.
"This isn't funny.." Lyric frowned and rubbed her arm. "She's hurt and I can't even hold her. I can't hold my own kid."
Darren sighed as Lyric walked past him with a defeated look on her face. The doorbell rang and Darren shifted Symphony in his arms so he could open the door. It was Killian with two other guys.
"Bad time?" Killian asked.
"No, no.come in I'm just not used to you ringing the bell." Darren laughed. Killian and the other two men stepped in the house Killian frowned as he looked at Symphony who was whimpering with tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong little love?"
"We had a little accident." Darren said and pushed Symphony's bangs out of the way so he could see the bump.
"Owch!" Killian winced. "Has Lyric seen this?"
"Oh..yeah." Darren nodded.
"Its Mommy's fault." Symphony pouted.
"You know that isn't exactly true Sym." Darren said and nodded towards the kitchen table where Lyric sat nursing a cup of coffee looking absolutely miserable.
"Symphony was putting up a fight to get her shoes on, Lyric thought she had a good hold on her but her hand went numb when Symphony pulled and Symphony hit the table in the hall."
"Oh. So it's not mums fault then is it?" Killian asked Symphony with his eyebrow raised. Symphony shook her head.
"No Daddy."
"Your mum is having a rough time right now, so you need to be nice and help her out. Don't fight with her." Killian scolded her gently. Symphony pouted but nodded.
"So what should we do?" Killian asked.
"Apologize." Symphony mumbled.
"How about you go do that?" Darren asked and put Symphony down. Symphony ran over to Lyric at the table and climbed up into her lap.
"So is this everyone?" Darren asked.
"Aye." Killian nodded. "This is Robin, He's the drummer, and he does keyboard too and William, he plays bass." Killian smiled and then looked back at the guys.
"This is Darren McKenna."
Darren smiled and shook their hands.
"Nice to meet you, Over there is my daughter Lyric who I think you know." He said and pointed at Robin. Robin nodded and grinned.
"I do. I'm not supposed to admit this but Lyric might have been my favorite student. She never turned down a challenge. It killed me when she dropped out." He waved at Lyric who gave him an awkward wave and smile in return.
"I don't know how I didn't piece together that, that little girl was yours ages ago Killian she looks just like you." Robin chuckled.
"She does doesn't she?" Killian smiled proudly.
"Well, if you guys want to go and get set up in my little studio, Lyric can show you around and get you started she knows how to work everything in there I've got to run Symphony to Preschool we're a bit behind today." Darren smirked and walked over and picked up Symphony.
"It was just an accident Lyric.. She's okay." He said trying to reassure her but Lyric didn't look so sure of it. She gave him a half smile and nodded before standing up and kissing Symphony on the forehead.
"I love you. Be good at School." She said.
"Okay Mommy." Symphony smiled "Bye Daddy!" She beamed and waved at him.
"Bye princess." Killian grinned waving at her.

Lyric finished her coffee and stood from the table and walked over to Killian and his friends.
"So, this is the band?" She asked.
"Aye." Killian nodded. "I don't think you've met William." He said and gestured to a shorter, heavier man with a red knit beanie.
"I haven't. Nice to meet you. And Nice to see you again, Mr. Hood." Lyric smiled.
"Just call me Robin, love." Robin said and hugged her. "Good to see you and Killian are working things out."
"Me too." Lyric replied and squeezed Killian's hand. "So my dads stuff is this way." She said and led them down the hall and opened the door. "You can get setup right over there and I'll turn on the equipment."
Lyric walked over to her dads recording stuff and started setting it all up.
"You know Robin has told me all about your talent, maybe while we wait for your father you can play us something." William suggested.
"Oh.. I.. well.." Lyric stammered. Killian didn't know how, but at that moment he realized that he hadn't heard Lyric play a single note since She'd come back to Storybrooke but the look on her face suggested she wanted to be anywhere but in this room.
"Actually Lyric, I left some of my stuff in the car, can you get it for me?" Killian asked. Lyric thanked him with her eyes.
"Yeah. I'll be back." She said and hurried out of the room.
"Did I say the wrong thing?" William asked.
"No, no. Lyric is just shy." Killian smiled.
"Shy? Bloody hell she played in front of over a thousand people." Robin chuckled.
"It's just been a while. I'm sure she doesn't want to embarrass herself you know how much of a perfectionist she is." Killian laughed.
"Aye." Robin agreed with a grin.

------------------------------------------------------

That evening, the guys were still recording except now they had Symphony and Quintus strumming along on their little guitars in the mix while Lyric and her mother were laughing and snapping pictures on their phones.
"I don't know I think its an improvement." Lyric giggled. Killian gave her a playful glare.
"Oh, you think so love?" He asked. "Why don't you join in and make it even better then?"
"Yes! Mommy play!" Symphony bounced up and down.
"I.. have to get ready for work actually." Lyric said. Killian frowned.
"You're going back to work?" He asked.
"Liam said I could come back when I felt ready and I feel ready so I'm going. I have to get ready." Lyric said and walked out of the room.
"Give me a minute." Killian said and put his guitar down and followed Lyric to her room while she was going through her closet.
"Love.. are you sure you're ready?"
"Yeah Killian I'm ready." Lyric replied.
"Well.. its just your arm, I know you can hold things now but sometimes it gives out on you without warning." He said.
"It will be fine Killian, it's a Wednesday it's not like its going to be that busy. I'm just ready to start getting back into the swing of things."
"If you say you are ready then I'm not going to fight you, I just want you to be careful don't push yourself love." He smiled and kissed her cheek. Lyric smiled back.
"You want Sym tonight? I was thinking after work I'd just come over.."
Killian smirked. "Already wanting to stay over huh? We haven't even been on a date."
"I've spent the majority of the day watching and listening to you play, and sing. That does stuff to a girl like me Jones." Lyric winked and turned around to pull something out of the closet.
"What do you think of this top with the pants I have on?"
"That does stuff to a man like me, McKenna." He grinned and looped his fingers into the belt loops on her jeans tugging her to him.
"I'll be late. Your brother is a stickler for tardiness, just like you." Lyric smiled putting her hands on his chest.
"I'm your boss too. I say you can be a little late." Killian whispered and leaned in and was about to kiss her when Symphony came barreling into the room.
"Mommy! I got gum in my hair!"
Lyric looked down at the big sticky wad of bubble gum stuck in Symphony's beautiful dark brown curls.

"Oh No!" Lyric groaned. "How am I going to get this out without out cutting her hair?!" She practically cried. "I'm going to have to call off work.."
"No, I've got it. You get ready." Killian said and picked up Symphony.
"You're going to get the gum out of her hair?" Lyric asked skeptically.
"I have my tricks." Killian winked "Get ready." He said and walked out of the room.
"What tricks daddy?" Symphony asked.
"We're going to ask your grandmother." He chuckled and walked down the hall with Symphony so Lyric could get ready. He walked into the kitchen where Sarah was getting dinner started.
"I need help." He said and held out Symphony. Sarah turned and giggled at his helpless expression "Lyrics a mess over it, and she was going to call off work, but I know she wanted to go, so I said I'd handle it and well.. This is me handling it." Killian half smiled. "Please tell me we can get it out without cutting her hair. Lyric will have a bloody panic attack if you cut this child's hair."
Sarah smirked and walked over to the cupboards and pulled out a bottle of vegetable oil and handed it to him. "Put it all over the gum, Let it sit for a few minutes and then the gum should come right out then just wash her hair."
"Incredible." Killian grinned. "Thanks!"

Lyric finished getting ready and walked out of her room Symphony ran over and Lyric was happy to see that she still had all her hair.
"Look! Daddy did it!" She beamed.
"Daddy is my hero." Lyric smiled. "Why don't you go get whatever you want to take to Daddy's tonight, hurry though mommy's going to be late." Sym hurried off to her room. Robin and William came out of Darrens studio and walked up the hall.
"Sorry mates, I had a sticky situation to take care of." He grinned.
"How Punny of you." Lyric snorted.
"Its all good, Same time next week?" William asked.
"Aye if we can swing it, I know with Christmas coming up it might be a challenge but we'll work it all out." Killian said.
"See you soon." Robin smiled and then looked at Lyric. "Next time I fully expect you to play with us. No more of this shy business." He smirked.
"We'll see." Lyric said giving him a nervous smile before the two of them left.
Symphony came running up the hall with her blanket a doll, and her stuffed dog that she took everywhere with her.
"Ready!" She yelled.

The ride to the bar was quiet until Killian broke the silence.
"Why don't you play anymore?" He asked.
"I play. I just.. With the arm thing.." Lyric started.
"You haven't played since you came back. Why did you stop? Is it because of me?" Killian asked.
Lyric sighed. "I don't want to talk about it Killian.."
"Okay.." Killian replied and pulled into the parking lot of the bar.
"Liam will bring me to your place later." Lyric said
"Alright love." Killian smiled. "We'll see you then." He said as Lyric got out of the car she went around to the back and opened the door and leaned in and kissed Symphony on the cheek.
"Be good for Daddy." She said "I love you."
"Love you too mommy." Sym smiled and waved. Killian watched Lyric walk into the bar and sighed.
"Why are you sad Daddy?" Sym asked.
"When's the last time your mum played piano or anything?" Killian asked.
Sym shrugged and shook her head. "I don't know." She replied. Killian knew for a while now, that while he and Lyric were working on getting their lives figured out something was missing. Lyric wasn't herself at. Music was what brought them together and it was the one thing besides him and Symphony that truly made her happy so he had to figure out why she stopped playing. He had to get his Lyric back.
