The awaited encounter (1)

Disclaimer: I DONT OWN NARUTO only Eve.

Eve POV :

I arrived at 6:55 to see all of them waiting and ready to depart.

Today I chose to wear a lilac crop-top in which most of my midriff is revealed, adorned with a black skirt that has a diagonal slit, showing a glimpse of the midnight-black short underneath, and both of them reach mid-thigh; a printing of sakura petals ran along the slit. One of the few items I had left in my bag.

I placed my leaf headband on my waist, put on my black ninja sandals and gloves.

"Hey, guys, ready for some adventure," said Naruto grinning galvanized addressing Sai and Sakura who was already there waiting.

"You know this mission is no joke right, I don't want you to get us killed...well, I don't want to get killed," I exclaimed as I approached them, annoyed by his sanguine and excitement. Don't blame me its almost 7 and in the freaking morning.

"Oh hi, Eve. Of course, I take this mission seriously! You know, I'm just excited," he hopped up and down like an overzealous rabbit. His enthusiasm is contagious, but I curbed the urg to smile and instead scowled.

"Yeah, I can see that with all your bouncing like a lunatic," I rolled my eyes at him.

"Aww, Eve, admit it! I know you are excited too!" before I could reply captain Yamato interrupted.

"Okay kids, let us get going, enough of your chit chat and let's get this mission over with."

How dare he, address us like kids!

Well, how dare he address ME, like a kid!

"I'm not a kid... old man," I huffed irritated and we left to the bridge to meet Sasori's spy.

+++++

Yamato decided on our formation.

He is in the front, leading the journey followed by naruto and Sakura.

I am behind them, while Sai is guarding our back.

The plan is for captain Yamato to disguise himself as Sasori while waiting for the spy to appear on the bridge.

We will be hiding not very far from him, masking our chakra in order not to be discovered.

Yamato ordered us to attack only if things got out of hand if the plan runs smoothly he will get the information and leave as nothing happened.

I can't believe how stupid that sounds, I mean what kind of childish strategy is that?!

Sasori must not be taken lightly, and I'm sure that things will never run smoothly with us if this captain can't devise a good strategy.

I don't know the man, actually never heard of him other than that he belongs to some criminal organization. But I believe that you should never underestimate anyone, especially your enemy. That's why I feel this mission will fail.

Good luck in saving your asses, you pompous leaf ninjas! For one, I'll be chilling far away and watching the show! I mentally cackled like an old hag, sadistic thoughts running through my mind. Of course, I didn't mean it, but it's fun fantasizing!

Hmm, you cant do that girl! You are now one of those pompous leaf ninjas or have you forgotten your headband? A voice in my mind snickered.

Oh, really, this? Well, it's a mere accessory. You know I'm just an added weight to this team. Even with the headband, I'm not officially a member of this village, or do you think I'm stupid enough to get the Hokage welcoming words into my head!

But you still have obligations toward this village you're part of!

I mentally sighed, this voice of reason is a pain to my rebellious side. Calm down crazy pants, I'll participate when necessary but I shall not put myself in danger for people I barely know! And I think lady Tsunade knows that too because well, we are a team of fucking four-member, not three as customary. I'm neither blind nor stupid and neither is the Hokage.

My brain works in weird ways. I blame it on my paranoia. These constant mental struggles between what should and what needs to be done have served me greatly, but it's still stupid because I'm talking to myself.

For one, I might not know what lady Tsunade has in mind but I know this:

1) she doesn't trust me - she'll be the stupidest Hokage I know (not that I know many) not because I'm mighty strong, but because I'm a stranger - and that why she placed me in an already formed team. And I would bet my precious left arm - my right one is way more important and I have one set of other organs (external ones, I'm not going to jeopardize my kidney and lungs when I have arms and legs fully functioning and ready to be bartered, no I'll leave those to more critical bets...like a good weapon or a pet) except for eyes, ears, and legs, totally indispensable!

2) she hates my guts. That's plain obvious right? Otherwise, why would she choose this obnoxious team (no matter how cute the guys are and how clever the pink-haired girl is, I just don't like them!)

Why is that because they stir some long-buried feelings, let us say, friendship?

Shut up...and no! I've barely seen them interact! I blocked that annoying, meddling voice. Geez, it's more irritating than a meddling mother wants to play matchmaker!

3) gut feeling. No explanation needed for that one!

Speaking of gut feeling, bees are currently playing in my stomach (my bet is on hide and seek because it stirs then settles) and it's screaming that there is a danger...or is that hunger hollering its presence? Hmmm.

Whatever it is, I always act on it. Never ignore what your gut tells you! I heightened my senses with the use of chakra, I already have sharp senses, but I didn't want to risk any sneak attack on us that might catch us off guard.

I was immediately bombarded by a wave of dizziness by the sheer weight of the new sharp senses, my eyesight increased ten times along with my other senses.

Dammit, even though it comes handy in battles, it's annoying as hell.

It's the first thing my sensei taught me when he sought me out to help me become a ninja.

My eyes felt heavy, I was worried whether my eye sockets can handle such burden or not, my ears ringing constantly and my nose numb from all the different smells and sounds surrounding me.

I took a deep breath to get myself together when the dizziness and nausea subsided, I admired the scenery surrounding me as I continued to jog after my teammate.

The trees, these castles of the forest, stood tall and stiff.

The seasons have been harsh in grooming them, stripping away the bark and outer layers, yet rendering them all the more beautiful. The branches interlocked in an eternal embrace. The ground littered with berry bushes, twigs, and the kiss of fallen leaves.

The smell of the earthy air, herbs, and wildflowers surrounded me like a cocoon. A caressing wind whistling around trunks and disturbing the leaves, squirrels chattering, insects humming/ churning, the rustle of animals rooting in the underbrush, scrabbling of lizards on tree bark: birdsong comes in lulls and bursts, the silence and the singing working together as well as any improvised melody.

A new kind of smile paints itself upon my face, illuminated by the golden rays of sunshine.

Pleasure rippled merrily through my pulsing vein as I gazed mesmerizingly at a wonderful sight ahead of me.

What a hallucination of pulchritude! Nature is truly the purest form of beauty!

The sweet air danced on my tongue, I was drunk from the sight in front of me. Konoha is truly a magnificent place, can't say the same about the people, though.

My grim mood dimmed and bliss wafted in me. My feet pumped with a newfound determination and excitement.

Maybe it won't be as bad as I think!

After 2 hours of constant running, we finally arrived and everyone took their position.

Captain Yamato didn't wait for a second, he immediately transformed into Sasori using transformation Jutsu and headed to the bridge while we waited in a nearby bush.

After five minutes of waiting, a figure appeared in the distance.

I wonder who is it this spy of Sasori.

I squinted my eyes to get a better look at him, however, I don't recognize him.

A young man, with arms and legs resembling twigs. Thick- rimmed glasses shielded eyes filled with malice, a mess of white- silver hair decorated his head. Arrogance flooding from him in waves, it is almost tangible.

He's just a boy!

Sakura emitted a gasp while naruto growled in anger.

Is he a foe or an unwanted guest?

I couldn't help but wonder, I decided to satisfy my curiosity and asked.

"Who is he? You guys seem to know him,"

"His name is kabuto he's Orochimaru's right hand. We met him in the chunin exams when we were 13, he helped us back then, but we didn't know he was a traitor. He mocked us and stabbed us in the back, while we considered him a friend!" Said sakura with a hint of disappointment and disgust.

"Well, I say you brought all this upon yourselves. You trust too easily it seems and you paid the price, now you should learn from your mistake. A friendly looking person with innocent and sweet words doesn't always harbor good intentions." I exclaimed.

"You seem to have experienced the sour taste of betrayal as well," Sakura glanced at me, pondering.

"Nope," I smirked and looked at her, "I never trusted anyone in the first place to give them the upper hand of betraying me. You see I'm too smart to fall for that obvious trap."

Seeing my proud expression, she shook her head in pity. "That's no life, Eve. You cant have family or friends or mentors if you don't trust anyone!"

I sneered at her once I noticed the pity look, "it's not I who had been stabbed in the back, so don't give me that look! Besides, I have none of what you mentioned and I don't need any."

"I'm going to rip his head and let him return Sasuke," Naruto muttered, gritting his teeth, his eyes, and apparently thoughts are still locked on this Kabuto.

I looked over at Naruto, he never struck me as a person who could hate someone.

The gloomy cloud never seems to stay with him even when he's depressed or sad, on the contrary, he brings laughter and smiles to the faces of people who surround him even when he's suffering.

Yes, I might've known him for what? a day and a half maybe, but his cheerful domineer and happy-go-lucky attitude will make everyone who looks at him think so as well until they look at his eyes.

I averted my eyes from him and looked back at the target ahead.

"Wait, you said-" I was about to question the last words about Sasuke when suddenly all hell broke loose.

Kabuto charge at captain Yamato.

'He's been discovered. The disguise was useless, its playtime,' I mentally laughed sadistically.

Captain Yamato and kabuto had their own little fight. Captain Yamato was using his wooden jutsu charging at kabuto while the young man countered his attacks by concentrating his chakra in his hands.

This is no ordinary technique!

"What is that boy doing?" I questioned confused.

Sai and Naruto were silent, watching the fight commence.

Sakura sneered, "planning to drain the captain's chakra no doubt. Come on, we have to help!"

Mmm interesting, very fast and efficient Jutsu, he's planning on ending this in no time.

However, what shocked me is the ability to use wooden Jutsu that captain Yamato is currently using, didn't it extinct with the first Hokage or something?

Meh, I never had time for history lessons, who cares of it exist or not, it's a cool Jutsu, nonetheless.

"Wait, where-"

The team charged at kabuto revealing their spot not bothering answering my question, while I remained rooted to the spot, confused whether I should interfere or not.

I wonder, should I help them out or just observe the fight?

When I made up my mind to stay where I am, I was knocked off guard with an overbearing chakra not far off from where I am.

I guess I should investigate. I thought excitedly.

I left my teammate to deal with their enemy... I know they can beat him to a bloody pulp, after all, they were 4 against 1.

I took out a scroll specifically designed to store my famous outfit. After an awkward minute of putting it on, I stored what I was wearing in the scroll.

I wish there was some jutsu that could dress me up with a snap of a finger, it'll save me a lot of hassle.

' It's time to hunt.'

I shot off in the direction of the unfamiliar strong chakra, excitement pulsing through my veins as my predatory instinct compelled me to run faster.

'Let's hope it's the prey I desire.'

Hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'm sorry for the mistakes :)
