chapter:2 {edited, minor details changed}

Eve

I woke up early to start my long journey towards Konoha.

I dressed in black shorts that go above my knees with a sliver skirt that is clasped on the side leaving a slit open with a purple shirt. I put on my black boots and slide my gloves.

I brushed my waist-length pink hair and took a quick look in the mirror.

Cold, icy blue eyes that can freeze hell stared back at me. A small nose and full pink lips, with a tint of rosy cheeks, decorated my oval face.

Who would've known that those eyes have seen many gruesome scenes? Those lips cursed the one man who martyrized her entire existence and those cheeks were tainted with blood due to the many wounds she inflicted upon others. Who could've known?

After I ate my breakfast in silence, I brushed my teeth and started to pack.

When I finished, I headed directly out of the small four holed and slightly cracked walls, spot tainted carpets, and cheap curtains, room with a kitchen, and a bathroom that has seen better days. A different room than that one I was in yesterday, similar-looking though, but I can't risk having someone after me. You see in this line of work, who is not paranoid is stupid. You'll always have someone after you and you'd be a fool or overconfident - still a fool - to disregard that.

It is a very peaceful and sunny day, contrary to the thoughts, raging on in my head.

Nevertheless, I put on a cold smile, more like a smirk, and started walking.

The facade is important. With the kind of dark thoughts in my head, it is difficult to smile but some semblance of human emotions is needed to stay on the safe side and not be hunted as a threat.

I don't want anyone to suspect that I'm not a normal ninja -as normal as a ninja can be-. Otherwise, I will be hunted down and I definitely don't want that, I have enough on my plate.

The smirk is the only thing that makes me look normal, according to my standards. Without it plastered on my face I'd look like a devil from the underworld since I'm as pale as the snow and my eyes are void of emotions.

Yes, a smirk is definitely needed.

I walked for two days straight. I only slept for a few hours, ate, and continued my journey. I didn't want to arrive late.

However, all I want to do is fall asleep, but I can't. This journey to Konoha is the final step towards my goal.

I finally spotted the Konoha's gates and stepped closer.

There are two guards there. One of them has his hair covering his eye and the other has a messy hair like he got an electric shock and all of his hair denied gravity it power.

When they noticed me they were shocked but they quickly hid it and the one with the messy hair exclaimed: "state your purpose young lady,".

"I'm here to meet the Hokage, I wish to be a citizen in this village," I said with the most angelic voice I could muster.

My voice is soft unlike my eyes, cold and dark like the deep pits of the ocean.

I'm actually thankful for my voice; it's the only thing that doesn't raise suspicion, along with my short and tiny frame.

But, if you look closer, you'll know that I'm more deadly than a giant summoned animal. Strength doesn't come in size and shape. For all you know, a tiny female mosquito is more deadly than a poisonous snake.

"Well then I might help you with that," after a moment of hesitation he finally relented. After all, who would suspect an innocent young female? He introduced. "By the way, I'm Kotetsu and this here is Izuma," he said with a goofy smile on his face making him look cute. But I didn't miss the wary gleam that coated his chocolate brown eyes.

It seems that he didn't abandon all suspicion, after all, I'm impressed but he's still stupid. For someone guarding the gates, he is an idiot. However, I'm a good actress, so I sympathize with him. Not.

"Hello there nice to meet you both I'm Eve, "I said with the most enthusiastic, happy-go-lucky voice I can muster at this idiocy.

I hate it when I have to act like this! I look weak and foolish!

Kotetsu leads me to a tall building where I presume it's the Hokage tower. There were no guards stationed here.

I'm astounded by how dumb these people are? No guards guarding the quarters of the village leader, the gate guards themselves escorting a stranger to the Hokage while leaving their posts empty, or did they summon someone to take their place? Don't know and don't care, but I'm sure of one thing: they are either completely moronic or there is some hidden agenda I'm not privy off.

I'll have to wait and see!

As we entered we heard a crash coming from the inside.

He knocked on the door, a little bit hesitant at first, but he made up his mind eventually when he saw my eyebrow raised in question.

We heard a bored 'come in'.

Kotetsu gulped and opened the door to reveal a blond woman with huge breasts and slim figure having sake, while another woman, with a pig in her arms, was lying in a huge crater. Poor girl, I guess the Hokage doesn't need guards, after all, one question answered, two to go! I thought.

"Lady Tsunade, this young lady is requesting citizenship here in Konoha. I thought I might bring her to you," he said with a glint of fear.

I have a feeling he's scared to end up in the huge crater-like that woman over there. Who can blame him, though? I myself would like to keep my limbs intact; I'm not stupid enough to underestimate a Hokage strength.

Funny, didn't you do just that with the guard inquiry? My conscious remarked.

I only meant that because she is the Hokage some measure of protection needs to be taken. After all, this place in itself must harbor knowledge if not tools to destroy, right? The Hokage can defend herself, but the treasures hidden here cannot! I explained mentally.

"Ah. What's your name, girl?" She asked with a stern voice, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"It's Eve. Nice to meet you Hokage-Sama," I replied with a confident voice and a smirk

Now, I'm not going to make a fool of myself in front of a person like her. I doubt she likes the version of a woman in distress or a weak helpless female? She is a woman of power and station herself, she will look down upon weakness.

So many assumptions?

No, merely reading the situation I'm in. Caution is everything!

She studied me for a second and then asked, "why do you want to be a citizen here. Don't you have a village you belong to?" sounding very calculating and sending me an accusing gaze.

Nothing gets past a Hokage, I guess. My smirk slipped and I simply stared at her with an unreadable face.

I could tell her the truth about my village but it's not the right time. I shall trust no one, not even the Hokage herself.

"My clan is practically wiped out. I am the only survivor and I wish to keep my clan's name hidden because if the news is leaked out I will be targeted, as for citizenship... I'd like to settle down here since I've traveled a lot. I think it's time to settle in a village. So, I chose this place," I replied with half the truth.

I can't risk raising the Hokage suspicion; after all, I don't need Anbu to be targeting me as well.

"I doubt that very much! The last part I mean."

I was about to retort for calling me a liar, but I thought better of it, she looks like there is more she wants to say.

After she contemplated my words for a minute, she lifted her cup and emptied its content in one gulp, her eyes never leaving mine or wavering anywhere.

"We are currently short on ninjas and I am certain that you will be a powerful addition to the village. You shall devote yourself to the safety of the leaf. I am not going to push you to reveal anything about yourself so, if you agree, here's your leaf headband and a key to your apartment, this paper contains the address,"

What are you thinking of you cunning woman? The gears working in your head are as visible as daylight!

Instead of saying all that, I said a quick thank you and turned to leave after I collected my things, but her words stopped me.

"And Eve, no funny business or else," she smirked knowingly.

"Hmm...no promises". I tilted my head and flashed her a sadistic smile which wiped the smirk out of her face.

Stupid move, but she made me wary. When an animal feels threatened it strikes, to warn, to plant fear and caution. That's what I did. The second strike, however, is the fatal one, because it aims to harm. Kill. Helpfully, it will not get to that!

Let her keep her guard on, I don't care. At least they will not mess with me, they will take me seriously.

I was happy that she didn't push me to reveal everything about myself; I hate people knowing about my past and pitying me or striving to spill my blood, neither option looked appealing.

"One more thing. Come here tomorrow in the afternoon to meet your team, they are now on a mission and they shall arrive tomorrow. Oh, and welcome to Konoha," she said as she took another sip of her sake.

I simply nodded and went my way.

I walked through the streets of Konoha; it's really crowded in here with the shops and the people. This place is really going to give me a headache, but it's comfy enough. You can feel the warmth in the air with a little chilly breeze.

Anyway, as I was walking, I felt a presence following me so I took off to a nearby alley that was abandoned.

"Come out, come out wherever you are, "I said with a mocking tone and the shadow subsided to reveal a young man with black hair, pale skin, and a black shirt that goes right above his abdomen, as well as baggy black pants.

"So you noticed me. For how long did you know that I was following you?" He asked with a suspicious look in his eyes, even though he wore a perfect fake smile.

He's good, I thought.

"I didn't know," I replied with a smirk of my own. "It was a hunch that I followed, or is it?"

I truly didn't know, but revealing this will put me at a disadvantage, so let him speculate!

"Weird, ok then, I'm Sai," he said. This time, his smile was exchanged with a stern look. It appeared like he wanted to say something but then thought otherwise.

"I can say the same about you, I'm Eve. I'd like to chat more but I have some business to attend to. Later," I said with a cold voice as I walked past him.

"Till next time, weirdo!" he replied as he puffs away.

I have a feeling I'll be meeting him again and when we do, I'll make him eat his words.

The only weirdo I see is you, you piece of crap!

But I have to give it to him, that guy can fake emotions very well but, as they say, the eyes are the window to your soul. One look at his eyes and I was sure that smile was fake as his intentions.

I've never excelled at the art of deception, especially if it concerns emotions and such. Even though I tried, but my eyes always make me get caught. Unless the person in front of me is dumb or doesn't have sharp eyes, he won't notice a thing.

Out of nowhere came a blurring shadow that knocked me down. It was a huge white dog that started to lick my face.

"Akamaru, what the hell?! Why did you take off running like this? Oh, I'm sorry, I don't know what's gotten into him," a cute boy with a spiky brown hair and two red triangles underneath his eyes said while he came running toward us.

"No, it's ok. I like him, Akamaru, right? Such a good boy," I ruffled the dog's fur and composed myself.

"Oh, you like dogs, pretty chick?" he said with a smirk.

Ok, I take that back. He's not cute at all. The last thing I need right now is a flirty little Casanova.

That's what I get for trying to be nice. I mentally scoffed.

"Thank you. I better go I'm already late," I said, my irritation soar. I wanted to slap that smirk off but I held back.

I walked past him but he made a terrible mistake of grabbing my wrist.

Ok, this guy is going to get it.

I felt my jaw tighten in irritation but he couldn't see it since my back was facing him.

Don't touch me you bloody fool!

I twisted his hand and flipped him over my shoulder. He fell on his back with a cracking sound.

"Touch me again and you'll get your hands ripped off and fed to your lovely dog over here,"I said with a sweet voice but a threatening glare.

Well, I think he got the message. He looks shocked.

Of course, he does! You just assaulted him because he touched your freaking wrist! My mind screamed.

Well, I hate being touched especially when I have my back turned.

You are one freaking paranoid woman!

Yeah, I already know I am no normal ninja, I sighed.

I walked past him as Akamaru barked.

"Yeah, very funny Akamaru. And they say dogs are faithful. Yeah, right. Hey, feisty chick, we are going to meet again for sure," he said with a mischievous tone, he didn't seem to be bothered by my warm first impression.

"In your dreams fleabag."

I sighed. Wow, this place is filled with lunatics, I'm doomed.

I stopped by this ramen shop called Ichuraka or something and ordered miso ramen.

When I finished eating, I directly went to my apartment to sleep, after getting directions from the villagers. It's already pitch black outside. The night has long ago descended and I need to wake up early tomorrow.

I arrived at my apartment, it was quite normal. Thank god it contains furniture; I don't want to go shopping. I HATE shopping, especially since my stay here is going to be a little longer.

I took a quick shower, changed into the black sleeping gown that I fetched from the bag, and went to sleep, bearing in mind the vow I promised myself.

Sasuke Uchiha shall die a painful, slow death and by my hands only. Eventually, my eyelids felt heavy and I welcomed the darkness.
