I arrive at Dakota's cabin. She's pacing back and forth with a worried expression. I change into the spare loose sundress I brought along with me.

"I know why the shadows are also going after those kids that came with Amy."

I'm confused, "Amy? Do you mean Alexa?"

"Yes, yes." She waves mistake away frantically.

I ask."Why?"

"This is a secret and I'm sure they don't even know this. But I checked things out and traced their lineage. I found out that they are direct descendants of the moon goddess."

My eyes widen, "Is that even possible." I ask. None of the books I've read, both ones in english and the ones in ancient tongue say anything about this.

"I know it's hard to believe but it's true."

"But It doesn't make sense. Why can't those shadows go for Alexa instead of those poor kids?"

"The moment Alexa chose to bear the mark of her mate, she lost all the purity of her blood."

"I don't think she knows nor realizes it, whatever this is, Is greater than Javier, Natalie, Alexa or me. Think about it, it can't just be Javier or Natalie. They must be going after children with the blood from great descendants. Javier from the Phoenix, Natalie from the moon goddess. Something tells me that it doesn't just stop with the two of them. There must be other kids out there like them most probably going through the same things, they might not even be werewolves."

Dakota's words make a lot of sense.

"I'm yet to figure out the full story, but when I do, you'll be the first to know. Don't tell anyone about this except Alexa, not even Casper. Do you understand me?"

I look at her steel eyes and nod. Her eyes held no space for uncertainty. She was really serious about this.

After my meeting with Dakota, I decide to call Alexa as I start packing to leave for my visit to silver pack.

"Hey odetta." I hear her chirpy voice at the other end off the line.

"It seems like you're doing better here. You sound happier." I notice.

"I'm really thankful for everything you've done for me and my daughters. I just feel—feel so—safe here." She sighs, "I can never thank you enough odetta."

A small smile makes it way across my face, "you're welcome."

"Why did you call anyways?" She asks.

I suddenly remember why I called in the first place, "Dakota and I talked earlier and—" I pause and take a breath, "Do you know about being a direct descendant of the moon goddess."

There is silence on the other side of the line. "Alexa?—you there?"

She clears her throat, "yeah I am. You just caught me by surprise."

"Do you know anything about that?"

"Yes—I mean—no—I—" She sighs,"fuck."

"What are you trying to say exactly?"

I hear her shuffling around before hearing her sigh, "Are you sure that we are?"

"Yes I am and Dakota never lies."

"My mum before she died used to read a bedtime story for me about how we were direct descendants of the moon goddess so I just assumed it was just a story, she'd made up." She pauses and continues,"But she was right." she whispered unsurely to herself.

"Did she ever say anything else?"

"Nothing else, she never even left clues for me. She died pretty abruptly so she never had the chance to tell me anything."

"Do you think there was a reason for that?"

She groans,"I don't know. she didn't even hint at anything."

"No need to stress over it, you should be resting."

"Is that why my angels are being attacked?" Her voice breaks.

"It's really nothing you should stress about, I'm taking care of it."

"Why can't they come for me?"

"You're marked." I try to say but I hear her sobbing, "don't cry Alexa, I'm taking care of everything. I promise you that it'll be alright."

"No, I'm at fault here. I'm living off you and bring trouble. I can't even do anything to help, I just feel so stupid."

"Oh no. Don't say that." I say, "Look Alexa, you can't control this and you're pregnant, you can't stress yourself or the baby right now. I need you to cslm down."

"I can't thank you enough for everything."

"You don't need to worry, it's my pleasure okay?"

She stops sobbing and I hear her sniffing, "I will try to remember anything of importance. She must've said something before she died."

"Thank you." I say and hang up.

I call the beta Landon of silver pack, explaining to him why Casper couldn't make it and the arrangements. Then, I pack some clothes and essentials for Javier for the days we'll be staying there.

I'm having lunch with Sebastian, my grandparents and Javier when my phone rings.

"Luna odetta?"

"Yes. I am Luna odetta." I say as I wipe my lips with a napkin.

"This is officer Dante. I'm very sorry to tell you this but the oracle was found unconscious in her cabin which was half ablaze. The alpha has already been informed."

My heart beat quickens and I start to scramble up. I hear my grandparents calling my name but I don't answer. My phone rings again.

"Did you hear?" Victor asks.

"Where is she?"

"You should calm down?"

"Where is she?" I almost shout.

"The hospital but you need to calm down, okay?" he says and I immediately hang up.

"Sebastian we need to go to the hospital now."

"Why? What happened?"

"I'll explain in the car."

"Is everything okay ody?" Luna asks and I force a smile.

"It's nothing you should worry about but if it is something serious I will call." I walk over to Javier who had a worried expression.

"Is everything okay?"

"Not at all." I say and hug him.

"Is dad hurt?"

"No but grandma Dakota is." his eyes widen in concern, "will she be okay?"

"Yes she will, she loves you too much to leave."

He cheers up immediately but he still had a bit of concern hidden in his eyes. "I'll be back soon." I say and kiss his forehead.

On the way to the hospital, I tell Sebastian what I knew and tried to calm my mind the rest of the way, a nurse at the reception led us to a private waiting room.

Victor, Isabella, Alexa and Casper are already there. Casper immediately rushes to me and pulls me in his arms.

"What happened?"

"Some patrol guards said that they saw smoke coming from her house but by the time they arrived, half of her cabin was in flames." Casper tells me

"So how did Dakota end up unconscious?"

"She was scrambling to get some of her belongings when a part of the roof fell on her. The doctor said that she inhaled a lot of harmful smoke which could have potentially damaged her heart and lungs."

Just then the doctor entered inside the private waiting room, "Luna" he gave me a small bow, "Alpha, the team did some investigation and it seemed that the cause of fire was caused by strychnine, wolfsbane and gasoline mixed together. The gasoline created the fire while the wolfsbane and strychnine were mixed with the smoke which it made it worse to inhale."

I gasp, "The growth of strychnine and wolfsbane were banned long ago. How is that possible?"

He shakes his head, "I thought so too Luna and with the amount of fumes she inhaled during the period she was unconscious, it will be a miracle if she survives. The wolfsbane killed any trace of her wolf in her and she's struggling to fight for her life alone."

Tears threaten to fall and Alexa and Isabella pulls me into a hug, "I'm so sorry." I hug them tight and look at Casper who has a stone cold expression.

"I want you to investigate now and keep extra bodyguards in and out of odetta's grandparents house." he tells victor. Victor immediately rushes out of the waiting room. Casper leaves the room after him leaving me no chance to comfort him.

I pull away from the hug and walk towards the rectangular glass window of the room Dakota is staying in. I see her old frail body hooked up on different tube and life support.

"It's going to be okay." I think I hear her say.

I immediately remember that I had some herbs in my little garden and I could mix something up that can help her.

"I'm going back to the house to mix up something that I hope can help her."

"I'll go with you" Sebastian said but I stop him.

"You go stay with Javier, if Casper isn't already doing that and—" I say to Sebastian before looking at Alexa and Isabella, "—you two please stay with Dakota. Keep her safe."

Isabella gives me her car keys and I rush out of the hospital to the car. I try to drive fast carefully, avoiding any accidents. I rush to the garden at the back of the house when I reach my destination. I then enter the house, run up the stairs to my room where I get the mini mortar and pestle and one of the five small bottle of moon water which Dakota gave me. I quickly mix the potion and put the mixture in a small glass bottle. The ride back to the hospital was one filled with hope and pride but when I got to the waiting room of the hospital, I stopped dead in my tracks. Victor avoided my gaze and Casper's gaze was filled with pain. Alexa looked at me with sympathy.

"I'm so sorry." Isabella muttered with tears in her eyes. I feel a lump in my throat and tears begin to fall.

Last thing I remember is Casper consuming me with his scent as I cried my heart out.
