Teardrops rolled down your face

As you wandered alone in the twisted maze

Under the sky covered with thick grey haze.

Soft snowflakes melted into your skin.

A smoke of secrets wrapped around your fingers.

You were an ocean veiled by an early morning mist.

Swirling in a whirlpool of tragedies.

Avalanching into the abyss of pain.

Your eyes held a plethora of emotions.

They were a vortex drawing me in.

And soon I went adrift at the blue sea.

And soon the ripples turned into curling waves

That crashed against the shore and each other.

In immense anguish, cries trembled out my lips.

Your castle imploded into a cloud of dust.

Your diamonds and dreams lost their shine

While you were resting in the shade of weeping willow trees

Like a withered dandelion.

You were cold like winter.

A flickering ember in the pit of fire.

A sailor in a raging storm.

Sadness cradled you in its arms.

Fear seeped into your tainted heart.

Melancholy lulled you to sleep.

Colours dripped from the skies,

Your lips smelled of white lies.

Your flaws were pulled into limelight

And time slipped through your hands.

You were a river glistening under the moonlight.

Why'd you succumb to darkness so easily?

Why'd you give in to your fears?

Were you too scared to face them head on?

You were never one to give up your happiness

Without putting up a good fight.

A little faith could've stirred alive the hope buried deep in your soul.

A little trust could've turned misery into love.

The wind whispered poetry into your ears.

Your life was a symphony of sirens and tears.

I envy the earth

That holds you safe in its arms,

I envy the grave

For it's your home now.

All the words I wanted to say

Never made it past my mouth.

They're now the epitaphs on your headstone.

In a story about a lonely ride to an empty home.

In a book of a million unlived dreams.

Written on the pages of my poem.
