16 - Discoveries
After our bittersweet afternoon at Malfoy Manor, we Apparated back to the Peverell's; heavy hearted and downcast.
Draco's eyes met mine sadly as we stepped away from one another, our fingers taking longer than needed to fall apart.
I looked away, not being able to bear those silver grey eyes anymore; the horrifying, sick feeling that he was choosing reputation over me was breaking me in a way I could never describe.
Draco walked off in another direction, claiming a call of nature, whilst I morosely headed for the kitchen, hoping to find Bambi returned from the orphanage.
As I reached the kitchen door, I could hear voices. Voices that made me pause.
"But you're not even sleeping with him! How can you call what you have 'real'?"
It was Blaise. I closed my eyes in disdain. I was getting fed up of this whole fucking thing.
"Please, Blaise!" Bambi implored. "You know how it is. I've got to marry him! I can't be with you!"
"But I love you and you love me!"
"No Blaise, this needs to stop! I'm marrying Draco! And that was a really low move of you making me think I was needed in the orphanage!"
That little fucking prick! I should have guessed that idiot was behind it.
"I wanted to get you alone! Without Draco or Ronnie!"
"Don't Blaise! This is wrong! I can't betray them anymore! Today was the last time!"
I was just about to go storming in there to give Blaise a piece of my fucking mind when-
"What's going on?"
I jumped out of my skin. Draco had appeared behind me as I stood listening against the door.
"Nothing!" I gabbled a little too quickly. "I thought you were going for a piss?"
"Changed my mind." He shrugged, frowning at the closed kitchen door. "Why are you standing here? And why are you whispering like that?"
"BUT I DON'T WANT TO STAY AWAY!" Blaise's voice bellowed out from the other side of the door. "I WANT YOU, BAMBI!"
"What the fuck?" Draco spat, his eyes darting furiously from me to the closed kitchen door which I was now shielding.
"Wait Draco, you don't understand-" I started, but he pushed me aside as he lunged at the door, slamming it open.
Blaise and Bambi looked up startled, guilt clear on their faces.
"Draco!" Bambi gasped, her hands flying to her mouth in horror.
"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?!" Draco roared, breathing heavily as he glared furiously between Blaise and Bambi.
"Calm down, man," Blaise said, holding his hands up. "You know as well as I do that this marriage is wrong."
"Damn it, Blaise!" Draco bellowed, his face a pinched in fury. "Is it not bad enough that you've gone and fucked Ronnie, now you're trying to get in my fiancées knickers!?!"
"Draco!" I cried, hurt shredding my insides.
Bambi gave a little yelp as her eyes darted apprehensively from Draco to me.
"Well at least one of us is!" Blaise spat. "I heard you two haven't even shared a bed yet! And don't give me this crap that you don't believe in premarital sex - because everyone in this room knows that's not fucking true!"
"That's none of your damned business!" Draco bellowed. "You're still propositioning my fiancée! And you're supposed to be my best fucking man!"
"You are condemning her to a lifetime of misery all because of a fucking name! I can make her happy, man; I can love her like she deserves-"
"LOVE?!" Draco roared, looking furiously from Bambi to Blaise. "HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON?!"
"Draco," I warned sternly, grabbing his arm and attempted to pull him away as Bambi whimpered frightened in the background. "You need to come away and calm-"
"DON'T YOU FUCKING TOUCH ME!" Draco bellowed, wrenching his arm from my grip as he wheeled round to glare furiously at me. "How long have you known? Was today planned between the three of you to try and get me to back out of the marriage?! And who sent you to even do this fucking job in the first place? I bet Potter's behind this, isn't he? I wouldn't be fucking surprised!"
"FUCK YOU, DRACO MALFOY!" I screamed, jabbing my finger furiously in his chest, hurt and anger making me see only red. "FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!"
I turned around storming out of the kitchen as I heard Bambi crying out my name, and I Disapparated the fuck out of there before anyone could stop me.
That night I cried solidly and horrifically into my pillow. I couldn't understand how everything could have gone so suddenly wrong.
When I awoke the next morning, I decided to go straight to Peverell Manor and see if Bambi was all right. I knew Blaise wouldn't of let any harm come to her, but Draco had been so angry.
Just thinking his name started making my blood boil with rage. I couldn't believe the cruelness he had shown me, treating me like some kind of fucking scarlet woman trying to get my claws into him!
He seemed to have forgotten pretty quickly that it was him only a few months previously who had been stood in my work kitchen, literally begging me to cater for his wedding.
Well fucking screw him, I thought, hurrying up the stone steps to the front door; when a loud crack sounded behind me.
I turned around to see Blaise, worry etched over his features.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, "what happened after I left last night? Is everything okay?"
He shook his head, his face set in a serious expression.
"I had to come to see if she's okay. Her father kicked me out just after you went," he said gravely. "Assumed immediately it was me who was upsetting everyone."
"Well you did trick Bambi into thinking that she was needed by poor, parentless children just so you could get her fiancé out of the way!" I hissed, "that sort of fucktardary would upset a few people!"
"I was desperate!" He cried, "I love her, man; it hurts so much."
"I know." I sighed heavily, wondering if I should ring the doorbell or not. I didn't usually, but then again I didn't usually turn up unexpectedly like this.
But the decision was made for me as the door swung open in our faces.
There stood the greying, mean faced wizard of the richest wizard in quite possibly the world.
"Mr Peverell!" I cried, feeling slightly discombobulated by his appearance. I very rarely saw him during my visits to Peverell Manor, which I didn't take to be a bad thing.
"Miss Weasley." He nodded brusquely, his eyes flashing as they fell on Blaise behind me. "I was not aware that my daughter was having a catering meeting this morning."
"It's um, a bit of an impromptu visit, actually," I answered, feeling discomforted at the way he continued to glare at Blaise despite me being the one talking.
"I thought I made myself clear yesterday, Mr Zabini," he snarled dangerously, completely ignoring me, "that I won't have you round here upsetting my daughter and her intended!"
"I'm actually here to apologise," Blaise gritted. "I just want to see that she's okay."
Mr Peverell looked for a moment as though he was about to slam the door in our faces, but then changed his mind after a thought.
"Actually, you can see that she's quite all right, yourselves," he said, suddenly lightening his demeanour and stepping back to allow us entry.
It was odd and I couldn't quite put my finger on why.
"She's up in her bedroom," he continued, as something glinted in his eyes. "Just knock, I'm sure she'll be delighted to see you both."
Deciding not to question it, I hurried up the stairs, closely followed by an anxious Blaise.
"Bambi?" I called, knocking on her bedroom door.
I realised too late that it wasn't latched, and so the door swung open upon my action.
"Oh!" I cried, "sor-"
My apology stuck in my throat, however, when I looked upon the scene before me.
Clothes were scattered over the floor. Leading up to the bed where Bambi lay.
And she was not alone.
Laying beside her, clearly naked under the covers, was Draco.
