I woke up in an unfamiliar room, which terrified me. I heard footsteps from the other room and they were getting closer to me. I grabbed a lamp from the side and clenched it in both hands. As the door opened I swung the lamp and it collided with a boys face.
'why the hell did you do that!?' he said getting up and I realised who it was
'Dan?' I asked
'Ye, its me' He said holding onto his cheek
'I'm so sorry' I said as I dropped the lamp on the ground 'Are you ok?'
'ye, just I'm in extensive pain because someone whacked me in the face'
'what's all the commosion?' Another male came in, it was the boy I'd met in the store. They were both still wearing their hoodies but Dan took his off to check his cheek.
'wait!' I murmered 'your Dan, as in Danisnotonfire?!'
'the one and only' he said smiling, but then cringing at the pain he felt in his cheek.
'That means' I said and pointed at the other boy 'youre amazing Phil... aren't you?'
'ye, so you watch our videos?' he asked with a smile.
"ye, I watch your videos a lot, youre my inspirations" I replied, a little nervously. Are they going to throw me now that they know I was a fan? no they wouldnt do that, right? I turned to Dan, who almost fully recovered except for a noticable bright red mark forming on his cheeck. "so, that's why you were filming earlier? for your channel?"
"ye, I was doin a 'day in the life of Dan' video"
"well you picked a good day, it's been very eventful... and it's not even lunch yet"
They both exchanged nervous glances, Phil being the first to break the awkward silence "you've been passed out for a while, it's almost eleven at night"
"what, seriously?!" I exclaimed
"wait, did you pass out because you saw us?" Dan asked in a mocking voice.
"no, no" I shook my head "I didnt even realise it was you guys... not in the street or in the shop, I think I was too busy worrying about stuff" I explained
"what sort of stuff?" Phil frowned
"Uni, I'm so socially awkward and I'm new here. So going to a place with people I've never met before isnt for me" I continued with "and then the whole people trying to eat me thing"
"I know it was insane, I mean, I've always wanted there to be a zombie apocalypse but I never thought it'd be anything like this" I nodded in agreement "I got out of the shop to see Dan running towards me yelling at me to run, I had no idea what was going on"
"Speaking of you Dan, where did you disappear to so fast? I shouted for help when the rotten corpses tried to grab me"
"sorry, I was running to meet Phil and in all the chaos didnt hear you" he genuinly seemed sorry, I was about to say something else when a pounding sound erupted from the door downstairs, followed by numerous moans. We all stayed quiet, not daring to move. It felt like centuries had passed before they finally moved on. We all let out breaths in unision, which I hadnt realised we'd been holding.
"good thing we baricaded the door or they would've been like 'Rawr'" Phil made claws with his hands " 'I want to eat your brains' " I had to laugh. It was nice having someone around with a good sense of humour during this terrible situation because it makes people forget how quickly the world is falling apart.
"anyway, I'm going to sleep" Phil said stretching.
"wait" I called as they begn to walk out the door "what are those things?" my voice seemed incredibly small.
"Zombies I think" Dan replied. I knew it but I was begging for him to say anything else.
"so, if someone gets bit..." I trailed off
"Then I suppose they'd turn into a one of them" He answered.
Concern suddenly struck Phils face, it must of been the way I looked when Dan said it. "you weren't bitten right?" he asked
"no" I lied "it's just my friend told me she got bit by some crazy guy... I mean jesus she could be one of those things" Phil eneveloped me in a hug, telling everything would be fine. I wish I could tell you the truth
They left me in the rom to sleep, but how could I? I kept hearing screams but wasnt sure whether they were real or all just in my head. Everytime I closed my eyes, I jostled myself awake, afraid that if I fell asleep I wouldn't wake up or worse, turn into one of those things and attack two of the kindest people I've ever met.
