It isn't hard for me at all

to give my thanks for this year's Fall

There's only one place it can go

and that's to someone you'll never know

That someone shared most all my life

as friend and lover and faithful wife

She's gone now but in my heart

I know we'll never be apart

Each night she wanders through my head

only pictures - nothing said

The teen aged girl, the winning smile

the spoken words without the guile

A courtship long so we'd be sure

that what we wanted would endure

A perfect bride unlike no other

and then to find the perfect mother

Later on with kids in school

back in the employment pool

Always wise and very gracious

defined by me as très bodacious

And what a grandma just so much fun

kept the grandkids on the run

I lie awake recounting years

The joys the sadness the laughs the tears

Now facing life on an empty tank

My partner no longer here to thank

At last to sleep thanks to remember

those magical years in this November
