Write a scene with a character based off of yourself.

"What kind of music do you like?"

I hesitated slightly before answering with a vague, "Oh, you know," I waved my hands around, "Stuff."

Elisa laughed. "What's," she imitated my movements, " 'stuff'?"

I chuckled awkwardly. "Just... everything, I guess."

My co-worker nodded slowly as she replied, "Ah I see. You're the same as me! Which genres do you listen to the most?"

"Um..." I stalled for time as I thought. But eventually, I came up with nothing. "I... kinda have trouble differentiating between music genres," I confessed, scratching my head sheepishly.

Thankfully, Elisa nodded in understanding. "That's alright. I have a friend who's like that too."

I followed her in sipping some coffee, hoping she would drop the subject. I didn't want to end up having to tell her that I listened to-

Suddenly, my phone started ringing inside my bag, and I almost spit my coffee out.

BTS's 'Dope' blared from it, and I glanced at Elisa to find her staring at my bag, one eyebrow raised.

I had forgotten to change my ringtone this morning. Sighing in defeat, I rummaged through the bag until my hands found my phone. As if on cue, it stopped ringing when I took it out.

"Was that... kpop?"

I shut my eyes at her question. Now here would come the inevitable 'Why would you listen to that when there's plenty of other great music out there?' and blah blah blah...

This was why I kept my kpop fangirl incognito in public. Because people always looked down on those who liked kpop for some reason.

Oh well. Elisa was a good coffeemate while she lasted.

"I love that song too! Are you their fan?"

My eyes opened and almost bulged out of their sockets. "Wh-what?!"

Elisa excitedly began talking, "I can't believe you're a kpop fan too! Finally, I find someone who I can fangirl with!" She beamed at me, and I was just too shocked to answer.

Maybe forgetting to change my ringtone had been a good move.

Thank you to all the peeps who've read this till the end. Seriously. It took me like 3 years to finish what should've taken me 31 days. Again, /shakes my head at myself for eternity times two/

I can't promise to write more frequently, especially bc I'll only be getting busier from now on, but I will keep writing, however slow.

I had fun doing this challenge, and I guess in the end, that's all that matters.
