3- Shi
*Naruto's POV *
I sat in the corner of the tent, knees to my chest, hugging them as I watched the medical team and Shizune work on Lady Tsunade, Granny. She was unresponsive to any stimuli, even pain. Her mind was in a complete coma, a deep coma, and they were unsure of how to wake her from it. They even tried something called a smelling salt and it failed.
I was worried about her, and more over my future. I was worried about my future here as a shinobi. Danzo forbade me from doing basically everything other than sitting in a tent and wasting away. He had given me a week's allowance, shinobi pay, but told me very clearly not to do anything.
I'd been in here all day curled up in the same corner, refusing food and water from the medical staff as I stared Tsunade down as she rested. She must of burned so much energy protecting everyone in the village while they waited for someone to take down pein. It's upsetting how powerless I am in being able to help her.
I want to do more, but I can't.
Useless.
I was torn from me thoughts just then as the flaps to the tent opened to reveal an Anbu stepping inside. They looked down at Tsunade and gave her a bow of respect before looking my way. They turned to face me and moved over, kneeling down to eye level.
"Uzumaki. You are being relocated to a different tent to give Miss Senju some space and privacy. I'm also going to forcefully feed you something if you refuse more food and water. You don't want to be weak should another attack on our people occur because of you." The male spoke and held out a box and a canteen.
I blinked down to the items and begrudgingly snatched them from him. He gave a nod and stood, motioning for me to follow. I looked to Tsunade, my gaze lingering on her sleeping figure before following after the Anbu.
I wasn't in the mood to get dragged around, so I moved behind the man as he led me through the semi crowded dirt roads lined with tents upon tents. I looked up to thr sky, finding the sun just past mid day, clouds spotted...warm and cold air blowing through at once. I knew then that a storm was approaching sometime soon, which wouldn't help us as a village very much. At least everyone is getting some form of shelter to block out the rain.
I noticed we were headed in the direction of the Hokage tent, which made me grow nervous and uneasy. I didn't want to be anywhere near Danzo. He gave me the creeps and I was still pissed at the guy for basically ordering me to couch potato. I couldn't even sneak out and help because of these Anbu hovering around me like I'm a prisoner or a ticking time bomb.
I bit my teeth together in silent fury as I could spot the tent in my line if aight, and a brand new one that wasn't there the night before with a banner labeled "Village Hero" slapped onto the front. If I had to guess, it was Danzo's idea. A perfect disguise to mask the fact he wants me under his thumb, and a perfect display of power.
Convenient location incase of emergency.
I gave a heavy sigh of frustration as I was walked into the tent. Immediately I was met with the smell of incense burning and ramen. I looked about, matted floors, comfortable lighting, plenty of room for four to live comfortably. Large bed standing off of the ground, living room area with a table and chairs, candles, make shift kitchen.
"Wow...im the most spoiled prisoner in the history of the leaf." I scoffed and folded my arms. "I might trash it just to piss him off."
"Easy kid. Don't get moody about it. Be thankful you aren't sharing the Hokage's tent. Be grateful you get a tent at all, beast." The masked man stated before leaving me by myself standing in the entrance way.
"...charming. Is that a way to talk to someone? Uhg." I stuck my tongue out at the closed tent entrance before making my way over to a couch and plopping down.
I stared at the emptiness of the room and felt my chest twinge slightly. I brought my legs up to my chest and hugged them, resting my head. I gazed around again, taking in the empty atmosphere before closing my eyes.
"Well because I am the one who named you, after all you are my son."
"His son..." I mumbled as my dad's words rung in my ear, looking around the room again.
"WHY WOULD YOU EVER WANT TO SEAL THE NINE TAILS INSIDE OF YOUR OWN SON!? Do you have ANY idea what I went through because YOU DID THAT!?"
I looked down at my fist, rubbing my thumb across my fingers and knuckles.
"Since you asked, "Minato began "I sealed half of the Nine Tails' chakra inside of you because I believed that you could master this power. I did it because your my son."
"I'm sorry, but I'm sure it doesn't meant much now..." His voice rang in my head.
"I had to train even HARDER than I did before! But it didn't stop the Akatsuki from KILLING MY FRIENDS!"
I winced and hugged my legs closer to my body, feeling a painful stab strike my chest. I felt warmth as well, love from my father and his regret over my pain. Warmth over the fact I finally knew my actual father, having been neglected that information my entire life so far.
The Fourth Hokage...
I wonder if Danzo knows.
"The masked man."
Their leader...a masked man...
"He did this...to me." I whispered, frowning down at myself and my pathetic brooding posture.
I felt a little angry then, but quickly shoved it down with a self influcted slap to the face. I grumbled and ruffled my hair in frustration before shooting to my feet and darting to the tent's entrance. I wasn't about to stay pint up in a tent brooding and feeling sorry for myself. I wasn't about to let that hatred warp my thoughts like it does everyone else.
Never.
Never.
"Never!" I snarled as I entered the open air, only to run face first into someone with a loud. "Gnn!"
I stumbled backwards and grabbed my nose to rub away the pain. I looked up with annoyance and was about to go off until I noticed it was Kakashi I had run into. I blinked several times, and noticed the bandage patched to his forehead. I blinked a again as his eyes softened upon seeing me.
"Hello, Naruto. I was swinging by to say hello. I would have come by sooner but I was helping an old lady to her tent-"
"Yeah yeah. Same as ever." I smiled widely before looking to the anbu who had been staring me down the moment I walked outside. "Is it alright if I take a walk with Kakashi Sensei? I won't do anything I know I shouldn't."
"Hm?" Kakashi raises a curious brow and looked to the masked individual, who followed up the question by looking back at Kakashi.
The two exchanged stares for a short moment before the anbu shrugged.
"Keep him away from trouble or you'll report to Lord Danzo." The anbu warned.
"Understood. Good day. Bring him back a little later. Want to catch up with my student." Kakashi grinned with his eyes down at me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders before steering me away and moving forwards from the tents in the clearing. "So, village hero tent privileges. Spacious considering its size I'm guessing?"
"Y-yeah, spacious. A little bit big for one person though. I don't see the use for it other than having a couple people stop by." I gave him a sheepish grin.
"Well, if you ever get bored, we are here when we aren't busy. I haven't seen you around since the fight with Pein. Are you feeling well? Healing up okay?" Kakashi asked, tentively looking me over, searching for answers without asking for them outright.
"Y-Yeah..as good as I can. Just uh...still in shock..." I mumbled, looking up at the hokage heads, having to look up higher since we were in a crater.
I could see earth type chakra users moving large pieces of debris from the surrounding piles and piles that was once a huge village. I looked down at the ground. Frowning as the sky began to grow darker as clouds rolled in, a storm coming...
"Hey, you okay? You haven't been showing your face much. I'd thought you'd bask in the attention you finally earned. Something you've been wanting for years." Kakashi asked, frowning visibly through his mask.
I gave a shrug. "It's not like I'm not happy that people enjoy me being around now. It's just...how it happened that bothers me...what if they attack again. I don't feel safe. I don't feel like everyone else is safe while I'm here." I explained, waving back as some other people waved at me in greeting and throwing praise my way.
I saved their lives afterall.
"You did. It wasn't your fault, Naruto. You don't control the enemy." Kakashi reassured, squeezing my shoulders.
"Then you are about the only person who things that." I growled angrily.
"Hm? Who else thinks it's your fault?" Kakashi curiously asked.
I felt irritated by the questions, and shook his arm off of my shoulder, masking my anger by smiling, relaxing my face despite the tense set in my body. I hummed and opened my eyes, waving at others and telling people to keep up the good work.
"Let's drop that conversation." I pleaded. "Please?"
Kakashi remained silent in thought. I took this time to watch the hard workers, moving crates of goods like water and food, helping people who were hurt, removing debris to make more room for more people. I felt an itch the longer I stared, wanting to help so back it burned my body to do nothing. People were struggling to get things done and all I wanted was to help them. It was too much to ask apparently, but I wanted to disobey.
I wanted to help...consequences be damned...
"I want to help." I spoke suddenly, my veins buzzing with pint up energy.
Kakashi looked to me and then to the construction efforts. "Me too. Want to go?"
Danzo...fuck your orders. You aren't my Hokage, Granny is.
I smirked and shot my hands in front of my chest, chuckling. I them funneled my chakra, and suddenly, tons of me started pooling into the area, a mass crowd of Naruto Uzumakis that darted off in every direction to help people, carry heavy crates and wood. I myself took off, running as fast as my legs would allow towards the walls of the crater where everything was piled.
The most danger was there...pieces of large building barely standing thanks to surrounding debris, threatening to topple with a slight breeze. Everyone was in a rush to move them safely before the incoming storm hit.
I wasn't going to watch people kill themselves without doing something to help aid the efforts. I couldn't, it went against my way as a ninja. If Danzo wanted to suppress me in fear of flipping out again than he'd have better luck just killing me and putting the beast in someone else.
It's my home...I can do what I want!
I arrived in time to find men and women trying to move a large piece, trying to make it fall over at a certain angle in order to prevent it from toppling the wrong direction and crushing them. I hummed and jogged over, waving to get their attention.
"Hey! Need help? What do I need to do?" I called as I gazed up at the 30 foot beam with people walking around and on top of it, trying to make it fall.
"It's lodged at the base! We don't have anyone proficient in earth type chakra. Want to help out?" A woman called from the top.
"Sure! Where do you want It falling?" I asked and moved carefully over piles of rubble and splintered wood to get to the base, to find twisted metal keeping it up.
"Towards that rock!" She called and pointed to a bolder off to my right.
I followed her finger before getting myself between the metal and the beam, looking for the weak points, sweating but thrilled I was in a position to get crushed. I made four clones and we all placed our palms on the point where the metal was holding it. I then rolled my shoulders and focused on compiling my chakrs into the center of my palms.
"Im gonna snap it! Watch out!" I warned, sweating as I kept building and building, remembering the waterfall exercise I had to master in order to create my rasenshuriken.
With one blast exploding from my palms, the area around me violently trembled as a loud cracked filled my ears. I grunted as it nearly crushed my head against the metal twisted framework around me as it fell forwards, barely moving out of the way in time as it tumbled down, clashing into the debris pile and turning into multiple pieces, movable for two people.
"Wow! Thank you Naruto!" The woman cheered and smirked at the rubble. "Made quick work of this!"
"Damn, kid's strong, I'll give em that." The man beside her cackled to himself.
"Hush. Of course he is. He saved our lives dear." The woman swatted his chest.
"I know, I know." He grunted and glared at me with a sideways look, taking me off guard. "But..."
"It's in the past. It was sixteen years ago." The woman drawled, her face turning grim, her eyes scanning the remnants of the village in a way that made my heart sink to the ground.
"Yeah...it was." The man mumbled.
"I-I'll go help out elsewhere now that this is taken care of." I stammered and moved out of the tangled metal heap and leapt down a couple feet of debris, walking away from them sheepishly.
I didn't get a reply.
I gave a heavy sigh and scratched the back of my head as I wandered along the debris field, breaking apart and giving a couple of my clones pieces of debris to move and carry off to the lines of people who were lugging the parts of houses to a certain area to be either repurposed or reduced to dirt and nothing.
Doing the most I could for everyone who wanted me help was probably the hardest part of this process. Some people wanted my help and thanked me and others were still indecisive about my status, still remembering me as some monster carrier who killed their loved ones. An irrational thought but who am I to judge others' pain and suffering.
The process of helping around took me about 4 hours, and by the time I felt my clones returning to me it had begun to sprinkle outside, the sun thst had almost fully set completely obscured by clouds. It was night time already before the sun was down.
My eyes had already adjusted to the darkness, the only light source available being the lanterns set up in the remnants of the village within the crater and above and out of it. Some memories came flooding to me of Anbu taking out my clones one by one, signaling Danzo caught on and ordered them to hunt me down.
Not surprised.
The clone with Kakashi was even taken out after Kakashi was startled by an Anbu jumping us with a kunai thrown straight at my face. Seems they can tell clones apart from real people despite the even distribution of chakra. They will find me pretty soon due to my chakra returning, might as well do something fun to kill the small amount of time.
My eyes traveled up to the hokage heads, they lingered on the fourth before I darted in that direction knowing the stairs were still intact as well as the shelters built hidden within the cliff. I knew if I went up there I'd have more private time to myself to just enjoy the air. I'd say enjoy the view but it was destroyed because of me not too long ago.
I ran for about five minutes, and i was just getting to the stairs until I saw someone appear in front of me abruptly, causing me to shriek and run straight into them with a loud grunt. I tumbled over them as we fell, the both of us hitting the ground hard due to how fast I was running.
"Gnnn.." The man under me groaned.
"Ahg! I'm sorry! Why did you just pop up in front of me out of no wh-" I snarled, until I got a good look at who this person was and completely froze solid.
A masked individual...straw hat...cloak...no...nonononononONONONO!
NOPE!
NOT AGAIN!
In a blind panic I scrambled upright and went for a kunai until I realized I didn't have my weapon pouch on my person, no thanks to danzo. I leapt back and created a clone of myself, getting in a defensive position to better protect myself again the ene- wait a damn minute...
"Wh-...hey how can you see out of that?" I mumbled, my eyes traveling across the black cloak to find it didn't have red clouds embroidered onto the fabric.
"Simple enough answer. I can't see...I have no eyes." The mystery man responded, feeling the ground around him before moving to stand with a soft grunt. "I'm sorry...I lost them in the attack, I'm trying to get used to it...I have to use the Chakra in the air and the sounds round me to 'see' where I am."
"O-Oh...uh..." I faltered, hearing the clone burst into a ploom beside me. "I'm sorry to hear that. Are you okay?"
"As okay as a blind man can be." He hummed with what sounded like amusement. "Are you okay, kid?"
"Y-Yeah. Uhm, quick question. Why are you dressed like that?" I pointed at him, before blushing in embarasment due to the fact I somehow irrationally thought he'd see the gesture.
"Can't you feel the air, kid? It's going to storm, it's sprinkling. My face was disfigured so I prefer to keep it hidden. I've heard it's quite disgusting. Smashed by some debris when that weird piercing riddled man blasted our home away...the last thing I saw was devastation. It's a miracle no one died. I'm Shi, and you?"
"Uhm, Naruto Uzumaki...so, what mother names their child death?" I tilted my head with a quirk to my lips in genuine confusion.
"They had an interesting sense of humor." This Shi guy gave a shrug. "Naruto Uzumaki huh? Kid who saved everyone. You are one tough kid."
I stared at him with a twinge of annoyance. "You can stop calling me kid. It's just Naruto."
"My apologies, Naruto. I meant no offense." He held up a hand.
"None taken, kid just gets old very quickly on me." I smiled sheepishly.
"I guess that's understandable. Any work gets annoying if it's repeated constantly in every sentence spoken. I get it-"
Shi was interrupted by a loud crack of thunder that made the both of us flinch. I did notice that he was quick to gasp and cover his ears in pain, squeezing his hands against his head tightly to the point his arms shook. He stumbled slightly and shook his head, making me realize his senses were probably functioning differently now with his lost sight. I've heard blind people have very sensitive hearing.
"Jeez that was a loud one. Do you need help finding your way back to your tent?" I asked out of concern.
"Nnngh." He grumbled and rubbed his ears, still shaking as another bolt went off. "What was that? Sorry I didn't catch what you said."
I bit my lower lip in worry as my thoughts roamed this way and that. I ended up releasing all of my clones in an instant and moved over to his side, gently taking his arm and linking it with mine after he flinched away from my touch. I patted his arm gently before moving him through the debris.
"I'll help you back to your tent." I repeated myself with a weak smile.
"I don't have one yet. Been inside the cliff." He spoke in a pained tone, flinching as more thunder boomed around us.
"You can bunk with me then, hopefully." I hummed. "Do you mind?"
"Not at all, just don't go peaking under my mask. Seriously, I'm very self conscious about it." Shi reminded me.
"Okay."
We made our way down to the main level just as it began to storm. The wind picked up and it began to rain hard, to the point it fell sideways and all of the fires were put out by the rainfall. The only light we had were the abrupt flashes of lightning every other second. He clung to my sleeve as I led him through the empty dirt made streets lined with tents. I was shivering and soaked beyond belief by the time we made it back to my tent, where the same anbu was waiting with folded arms.
"You broke the rules." The man hissed.
"Hey, couldn't help it. He's blind...he's staying with me." I spoke with an irritated glare.
"Sure. Danzo's going to ream you for this though." The guy grumbled. "We were going to drag you back here soon if you didn't come back."
"I don't doubt it." I shrugged and led myself and Shi inside the tent, where warmth immediately greeted us. "Aaaahh, that's better." I sniffled and sat Shi down on thr couch.
He got himself situated and pulled his cloak and hat off, shivering and rubbing his arms. I watched him before looking for a blanket. The only one I had was my sleeping blanket but it had to do. I snatched it off of my bed and moved over to Shi, setting it down beside his person.
"There, a blanket should help keep you warm." I spoke softly.
"Thank you k- Naruto. That's very kind of you." Shi inclined his head to me slightly before peeling off his shirt, making me stumble back a bit and gaze down at his chest.
I shuddered as water trickled down his well built frame, down each defined muscle and joint that made up his upper body. I coughed into my hand as heat bloomed in my stomach and face, unable to contain the blush that formed.
He had a deep voice that sounded like velvet, and a body of a fighter. He had dark black hair, and he was taller than me, I couldn't help but blush.
God I'm so happy he's blind.
"You know, I may be blind but I can still tell you're staring Uzumaki. Is something wrong with me?" Shi asked as he draped the blanket around himself. "Am I scarred? Ugly perhaps?"
"N-No! Definitely not ugly! U-uh, hah, I mean you aren't hot either. W-wait that came out weird and terrible. It's not, I'm just, you startled me is all." I stammered over myself, feeling panic swamp my head.
"Wow. That wasn't subtle at all. Hahaha." Shi laughed to himself, slapping his knee and grabbing his stomach with his other hand as his shoulders quaked.
"Hey! Not funny!" I puffed my cheeks out in frustration.
"Hey. I'm a stud and I get it, dripping wet with liquids sliding down my skin...pale and glistening against fire light, soft oranges and reds making me glow. A masked mystery man kind to a child carrying a burden that makes him hated but most. Personally I believe that doesn't define someone, something they can't help. You are cool, always thought so." Shi spoke, making me stare at him with raised eyebrows.
It was weird...how the air changed around him at the sound of his voice. I felt something strange, a tiredness and luring aura overwhelming my mind into a fogged and lulled state. His voice rung in my ears, and I found my body moving over to his side without realizing it. His words just...soothed something I couldn't quite place, it's was almost like I was hypnotized by his voice.
"It's been a long day...you should turn in for the night. Come, there is room for another under the sheet. My body's cold, come warm me." He whispered. His voice cutting through my thoughts like butter, fight leaving me.
The fire keeping the tent lit snuffed itself out with a foreign wind, now completely unable to see but still managing to find my way to the couch, falling into him with a grunt.
He was right...his body was freezing. It was chilly and cold under here, making my skin feel scalding to me. I slid my hand up his chest as he brought his arms around me. The blanket trapping me within his grasp. I shuddered when his hands came down and moved my jacket zipper down my abdomen, peeling it off and chucking it out from under the blanket and to somewhere in the floor.
"Wh...whatishappnnnguh" I slurred out as the pitch black darkness around me swirled, making me dizzy.
"Must have been the rain, sick most likely." His voice whispered to me, sounding like it was coming from everywhere. "Shhhh, just relax Uzumaki.
His ice hand slid up my front, tracing my abs up to my neck, fingers feeling my pulse making me shudder beneath his touch. My hand ran up and down his front as well, feeling him shiver under me...
What's happening...and why is it getting hotter under here? Why am I getting fuzzier? What's going on?
I felt something then, leaning back until I was laying down, I felt lips press against my neck. My mouth opened to say something but a finger slid up to my lips, and into my mouth. Ice exploding through my body in a wave that winded me.
I grabbed onto him, feeling someone staring through me in that moment as I could feel something changing in my head I could feel my body losing control over itself as his will overpowered all senses.
"Tell me something boy...why are you so sad? I can smell it on your skin." His deep voice pierced through me.
"Danzo..." I whispered with surprisingly no hesitation.
Unable to stop myself from giving in.
"He makes me sad too...he makes me angry. He makes me sick. He killed my people, want him to die. Do you want him to die?" The voice spoke, lips ghosting across my jaw and chin, making my eyes role backwards.
Die...do I?
Yes...
N-No i...what...?
"Yes...I hate him." I whispered aloud, something clicking in place internally.
That's right, I hate him.
I want him gone.
Shi wants him gone too, and whatever Shi wants he should get. Yes...I finally realize this.
He should get everything he wants.
"Good. I hate him too. He has eyes...I want them. You will help me get them. Do you wanna help me?" He whispered into my ear.
I blushed heavily and felt consciousness leave me. "Yes..."
...
Weird...
...
...
...
...
It's like I'm under his control...
"Obey..." a voice rung through me, filling my head. "Obey....and sleep."
I don't remember passing out...but one second I was awake and the next I was dreaming.
Dreaming of killing Danzo.
