Third POV

"I thought about it, really, but on further thinking I reasoned that it won't work." Karn sighed.

"Why?"

"Because, it affects them. To have so many of soldiers around them, disturbs them, they are distressed of it." Karn answers.

"I can see that happens, but their safety is our priority."

"Their comfort has to be taken in care to, right?" Karn questions.

"What comfort if their lives are in danger?"

"I know. And which is why I was wondering, what if we---" Karn was saying but he was cut off as the gate flied open and a panting man entered.

"Maharaj!"

"What happened, Awasthi Ji?" Karn asked.
What happened that he had to come in the room when Karn had said specifically not to?

"It is Lady Ananya, Maharaj."

Instantly, all the six cousins and Karn perked up. "What happened to her?"

"She is a panic attack." Awasthi Ji breathed.
Karn went flying out of the room.

The cousins of Hastinapur exchanged looks before deciding to follow him, to see if Ananya was all right or not. They all rushed to catch up with Karn.

There was Ananya in a room, sitting on the chair and table, she was asleep there it seems. But she was frowning, in distress. She looked as if in pain. Beads of sweat, enveloped her fore head.

She also seemed to mumble things here and there. Nothing that became very clear to the boys. What happened to her?

"NO!" She shrieked suddenly and instantly Karn was there beside her, trying to wake her up harder. Before he was just calling for this time, he risked touching her, she didn't like it very much, just like before.

He was jerked away from her body. "No... Please ... No."
She continued crying and brawling as she was in the attack.

"ANNIE! ANNIE!" Karn called for her. "Break from it, Anna darling."

But his words were having no effect on her. He was left with one resolve, though it would be difficult in this way.

He cautiously moved towards where she was sitting, weighing her upper body on the table. Slowly and very carefully to only touch clothed part of her body he somehow was able to push her back in the chair

Once on the chair he pinned her hands, using one of his and locked her legs in between his. She shrieked loudly.

"ANNA!" He called.

"NO .... PLEASE .... I DIDN"T DO IT .... NO PLEASE."

"ANNIE!" he called again.

The boys watch in silence as Karn manures around Ananya. They had never seen anybody like this. They were surprised to see Karn hold her that, plus locking her in place?

What happened to her?
Was she ok?
Would she be fine?

"Annie!" Karn shook her to wake her up. "Anna darling! I am here. Your Karn is here. I am Karn, your best friend."

With a jerk she wakes up, confused for a minute.
Karn instantly releases her, "Anna!"

She was shaking and sobbing. "He ..... I .... Her .... There ..."

"You are out, Annie. Listen to me." Karn tries to calm his best friend down. "Tell me Anna darling, five things you see,"

"You, Table, chair ... celling, bookshelf." Ananya says, her voice shaking.

"Four things you feel."

"cushion ... carpet ... your hands .... Slippers."

"Three things you can hear." Karn motivates her.

"Your voice ... birds ... footsteps." Her voice breaks.

"Two things you can smell?"

"Your cologne ... Rajanigandha ..."

"One thing you can taste."

"Rasho- gulla." She practically spits it out of her body.

The six brothers found it quite astonishing when she calmed down under that condition. His five- thing trick worked.
And this made the boys wonder, if it happened regularly.

They were frozen at their place; they weren't able to move. They knew that they were most probably intruding but their feet were stuck to the ground and they weren't able to move.

"Calm down Annie!" Karn rubbed her arms. "See, I am here. The Hastinapur brothers are here. Nothing will happen to you."

The brothers in the room felt their heart fill with love when they heard the term 'Hastinapur Brothers'. Would this have happened, if they had been civil to one another since young age? Would life be different?

"Tell me, Annie, what was it?" Karn asks soothingly. His voice was like a soft whisper that relaxed everyone in the room.

"Uh- Brother Karn..." Yudhishthira speaks.

"Yes, Yudhishthira?" Karn turns to him.

"Should we leave? I think we are intruding." Karn looks at him for a long minute, before looking down at the girl in front of him.

Ananya shakily nods her head and Karn turns to them, "It would be better if you leave."

"We will- uh- are." Yudhishthira says and all the brothers walk but not before they smiled and said a 'take care' to Ananya.

Karn stares at the girl in front of him, she was shaking and crying. Tears, precious ones were falling from her eyes.

"As a King, I wish I could punish the one who gave you this pain." Karn whispers as he settles down on the table pushing the things away.

Ananya wraps her hands around his waist and presses her face in his chest.

"I don't want anything related to them."

"I know, darling, that is why I haven't done anything. Else they would be serving their term in Hell." Karn growls.

"did ... Did ... the brother see .... ?"

"Yes, they followed me, I suppose, darling." Karn runs a hand over her head.

Sha sulks more. "I ... ..."

"What is it, darling? Annie?"

"Why me, Karn? Why me? What is wrong with me? Such ... such hatred? Such atrocious things? Why did all that happen to me?" Ananya breaks down, not for the first time, in front of her best friend.

Karn soothingly runs his hand over her head and down her back. Trying to calm her down. He could never understand the feeling she had; he could just imagine it. And it was bad. Very bad. Which only made worse for his best friend.

Even Karn questioned it, Why her? What was in her?
Not that he would want this for somebody else but still, why her?

She is the elder sister of the supreme commander of universe and has such a life? Is this justice?

Why her? Why such sadness? Such guilt? Why give her such pain that may result in such severe reclusiveness?

*********

How was it?

Yes, I know I said this would be a flash- back ....... yada, yada ......
But I could not write it, because I went to Vrindavan and returned an hour ago.

The flashback will be here some other time, do not worry.

What is Ananya scared of?

What happened to her?

What darkness lies in her past?
