Home is where...
Josh let out a content sigh when he stepped inside the hallway closing the door and smelling the sweet smell of home. He yawned when he took of his coat, hanging it near the door. He gently brushed the snow off of his black leather shoes, silently wishing the snow would disappear soon and temperatures would finally rise a bit. The winters in Columbus were beautiful, but snowy and cold, and mostly long. So. Long. That was one thing they hadn't considered at all when they moved here, and he wasn't sure he liked it. He placed his shoes on the rack before making his way into the house further, a hind ruffling up his own hair with another sigh.
It had been a long workday, a lot of meeting new people and pretending to like them all. He didn't though, and keeping up appearances all day was wearing him out. A lot of people he met for work were pretentious, thinking they ruled the whole world just because they had a gold Rolex around their wrist and drove some ridiculously expensive Mercedes. It was all fake attitude and personalities. He slightly disappointed himself by actually contributing to it. But he had to, if he wanted to keep doing his job, and his job, he did actually enjoy that. So for now he was just happy to get out of his dress-shoes and already looked forward changing into a more comfortable outfit.
He went into the kitchen, ready to put his laptop there for the weekend, but almost jumped when he practically bumped into Tyler coming out of that particular room. "Oh, hi", he smiled, chuckling at Tyler's startled face, but oh so pretty. "Oh, I didn't hear you", the brunette spoke shortly before he was kissed by his boyfriend. "Hi."
It was March by now, and it had taken Tyler a good amount of weeks before he started to actually use the key they had given him on New Year's eve. They hadn't asked him about it, knowing he'd eventually would start using it once he felt comfortable enough. They let it be, not pressuring him, even while they couldn't wait for their new boyfriend to start feeling confident enough to feel at home in their home.
It had been somewhere in February when he used that key for the first time. It was nice, or actually more than nice. Josh loved it. It felt more and more like Tyler was an equal part of 'them'.
"Hm, thought i'd come early to start dinner, since you and Brendon both would be late." Tyler smiled softly before shaking his head, a face showing slight disbelieve. "Damn, you look so handsome in your work clothes", he chuckled, pulling Josh closer. "I keep forgetting that", he added in a soft whisper, ending his comment with biting his lip subconciously.
"Hmm well then you better give it a quick look because i cannot wait to get this off", Josh hummed, already unbuttoning the cuffs and collar of his white button-up shirt. "Oh I will", Tyler confirmed, nodding while watching him before Josh walked away laughing. "Those pants, damn!" Tyler commented, quickly slapping Josh's butt as he attempted to make his way up the stairs.
Once upstairs he quickly took off his slacks, finding one of Brendon's black sweatpants first so that would just do. Then he just slid into a plain sweater, and he yawned, hand ruffling his hair again. After a short bathroom stop, he washed his hands and face, and then right after he hurried back downstairs, happy to spend some time with Tyler after this day.
"I'm glad you're here", he told him when he was back in the kitchen, immediately wrapped closely around him. "I know you would be", Tyler chuckled, shortly squeezing Josh's hand, knowing very well Josh still didn't like being alone. He was at his happiest if they all were here, but at least one would do for now. He smiled, thinking of how clingy Josh could be, yet he absolutely loved it, as much as Brendon did too.

Tyler had slowly started to like using the key. Very slowly. When he first got the key to their house he avoided ever using it. He didn't feel like he should, even though they made their point of view perfectly clear. It had taken weeks for him to use it for the first time, he even remembered the exact date. February 15th, the day after they went out for dinner on Valentinesday. Cheesy but so cute. The 15th was a normal workday though, and Brendon and Josh both had to leave pretty early, while Tylers shift didn't start till 1pm. So they left early in the morning, softly kissing him goodbye while he was still wrapped up in blankets and surrounded by pillows that smelled like home. And well, leaving him alone in their house.
He'd been so uncomfortable but comfortable at the same time. He spent a lot of time there, so he felt at home in their home, but it was the first time he was there without any of them. He hadn't known what to do with himself, sleeping only a bit after they left and he got up around 8am eventually. Made breakfast, took a shower, did some laundry even. Everything felt at home, but so foreign at the same time. Slowly from then on he used it a few times more, and it had become less strange.
He loved how the house felt homey, warm and welcoming even when he was by himself. It breathed comfort, personality, the house reflecting them. Pictures were on random places, now ones with Tyler too. He'd still look at them in slight disbelief when he walked by the. The atmosphere was... home.
"What are you making?" Josh asked, now sitting on one of the countertops watching Tyler cut up leeks. "Just a casserole", he hummed, smiling. "We can just shove it in the oven when Brendon's home. Easy."
"Easy", Josh shook his head with a laugh, happy he now had two good cooks around, knowing very well he wasn't one of them. What he liked even more was how Tyler would just easily slip the word "home". It wasn't so much he called it 'home' to himself, but Josh's imagination easily took a stroll with it and it just sounded so nice when he said it.
It was maybe 5 minutes later when everything was prepared and just waiting to be baked in the oven. "I'll clean up", Josh offered, usually loading and unloading the new dishwasher and tidying up the kitchen. The others cooked, he cleaned it up. Seemed fair to him. Tyler nodded when Josh kissed his cheek, but helped him anyway so they could then just sit and relax together.

"Gosh, baby this is delicious", Brendon practically moaned when he got a few bites down of the casserole Tyler made them.
"I'm glad you like it", Tyler smiled politely. "Like?" Brendon shook his head. "Baby, i could eat this every day for the rest of my life. Heaven." The others chuckled at his exxageration, and Josh sigh softly watching them both, tired eyes subconciously staring at Brendon.
"What?" the eldest chuckled, and Josh zoned back in. "Oh." He shrugged with a smile. "Just love it when you call Ty 'baby'. And i love coming home and finding you here already", he continued watching Tyler now. "Makes me happy." He chuckled. "Sorry, i'm tired. Anyone want coffee? I need to talk to you two about something..."
**
"So", Josh started once they had their cups of coffee. Two sets of worried eyes watched him carefully, wondering what he would bring up.
"In a few weeks I have this event from work, and i'm pretty much expected to show up." He sighed, not his favorite part of his job.
"But the thing is... The invitation is for me, and my plus one..." he continued, letting the sentence die down then.
Josh had been thinking about it all week, since getting the invitation in his email. It made him realize apparently he still was slightly insecure in this new relationship and he didn't know what to do. He was so proud of both of them, and to anyone on the streets he wouldn't hesitate a second in showing them off. But this was work, business. And the event-award show would even be broadcasted on tv, and ofcourse visited by a lot of people from his field of work.
He wasn't exactly sure why he was doubtful about it, he even felt slightly ashamed for not just being sure to stand up for it. Fuck what anyone would think. But apparently it wasn't that easy. And even if he would be ready, he wasn't sure if they were? He expected Brendon to be just fine, but was Tyler even ready to make that step? He didn't know what to think. We're they ready to go full on public?
Back at the diningtable it was Tyler who broke the silence first, seeing Josh's brain practically overheat, assuming his answer would solve the issue easily. "You can just bring Brendon?"
Josh watched him say it, pink lips moving, brown eyes watching him. It seemed a logical response, since it had been Brendon and Josh long time before Brendon and Josh ánd Tyler. But it was all Josh needed to be convinced. No way he was just going to bring one and leave the other at home.
Josh smiled, relieved. "You just made me realize what i've been doubting all day." He sat back, hand on Tylers knee. "I'm not gonna go if I can bring just one of you."
Tyler frowned, that wasn't really the outcome he expected, but okay. Maybe this was even better.
"If they only accept a plus one, I won't go." He stated without hesitation. "I'd never leave either of you out, I don't even know why i've been doubting this so much." He shrugged.
"But this means, that if they would accept a plus two... We all have to decide whether we want to... you know. Go public and all."
Brendon shrugged, gently reaching for a hand of each of his boyfriends. "Honestly, I'd be perfectly fine going. I'd happily stand there with the both of you. I don't care what anyone else would think, their opinions don't mean shit." Josh smiled, he knew Brendon would feel like this. Still, it was comforting to hear. "I'm not ashamed of us, people can judge what they want. But, ofcourse, only if we all feel like that. I absolutely have no issue with declining if some of us aren't ready yet."
Josh let his words sink in for a bit, distracted by Brendon thumb rubbing his hand gently. He nodded, smiling. "Yeah, I'd go if we're all comfortable. But I won't, without a doubt, if you don't feel comfortable", he gazed at Tyler. Josh shook his head a bit. "I don't even really like the events", he snorted softly. "But it kinda comes with the job. But it's our way, or not."
Tyler was contemplating on how he felt about it. The fact that both of them were so sure about this made him warm, there was no hesitation. Absolutely none. They were sure about him. About them. Going public meant to him, that they really saw him in their future long time. And he didn't know why that still got to him, as much as it did. It was reassuring, whenever his insecurity threathened to take over, they would subconciously already take it away again. They were ready to add him to them, publically, officially. For anyone to know.
"You know what?" he started softly after a moment of silence. He watched both Brendon and Josh looking at him, waiting for his opinion, his point of view, letting their decision depend of his opinion, eyes caring and open. "I think i'm ready."
He stood up, leaned over the table, his one hand finding Josh's face. "If you two are so sure, i'm sure. Thats all i need", he spoke softly before pressing his lips to Josh's. "I'm sure", he repeated again, softly as he sat back down and Brendon's arm was around his shoulder, lips on his temple shortly.
Josh smiled big, eyes sparkling. "Imagine him in a suit", he dreamed out loud for all of them to hear. Tyler chuckled and pulled a grossed-out face. "Ew, no I didn't even think of that."
"Hot", Brendon just plainly stated and Josh simply agreed. "So hot."
Tyler rolled his eyes but laughed. He was only slowly getting used to Josh's fancy work attire when he had to leave the house. He didn't remember he ever saw Brendon in a suit though. Whenever he had meetings outdoor he was definitely dressed nice, but not nearly as dressed up as Josh.
"We're so going to be the hottest couple there", Josh continued dreaming out loud.
"Couple?" Brendon asked with a chuckle.
"Oh", Josh frowned. "No." He was silent for a bit... what even was their triangular thing called? Did it even have an actual name?
"Triad", Brendon shrugged, answering the unasked question. "Or throuple, but god that's the ugliest word ever." He chuckled.
"Triad?" Josh just spoke out loud, just to hear how it sounded. "Triad." He nodded with a smile.
"We'll be the hottest triad for sure though. The only one too, probably... We'll be the hottest looking bunch", he chuckled.
