"It's time, Tyler."

I looked my sister in the eye, trying not to let my insecurities get in the way of my happiness. I knew it was time.I decided that I would come out today. Only my sister knew about my wishes and desires towards my best friend Destin.

"I don't think that I'd be able to do this. Especially when the guy that I like is going to be there."

Where was there? I didn't exactly know. I didn't even want a party, but HE insisted that I throw one. Destin, that is.

"Jamie! Tyler! Get dressed because we're leaving in 30 minutes."

"Ok mom!" We yelled symotaniusly. Before leaving the room, she gave me one more look of pure sympathy and a pat on the sholder.

"You got this bro."

She was gone.

They had brought me to my favorite place to be: Coco's Café. I guess that's where my sister thought I would be most comfortable when talking in front of a crowd.

She's right again.

"Hey man! Happy birthday!" It was him. My life-long friend and two year crush.

"Hey Destin. How's it going? Your girl still cheating?" I hated his girlfriend. She wasn't worth the trouble.

"Yea....ummm... we kinda broke up." He sighed.

"Really? That's sad. You guys looked good together." Lies. She looked like a rubics cube. Shaped like one too.

"You really think so? I'm actually interested in a friend of mine." He smirked.

I felt my face get hot. I took my black glasses off and threw a hand into my auburn hair.

He put his hands in his hoodie pocket and tilted his head to the right, his blue eyes fixated on someone outside of the small bakery.

"I'm gonna go and get some cake Destin." I needed to get away to cool down my face.

"Ok. I'll come with you. I don't really know anyone else here beaides your sister." That was true. He and Gia hang out all the time.

"Why not go and socialize with anyone? They're really nice people." I told him. I really needed to get away from him. He had a huge affect on me.

"Because I don't feel like it. Plus, it's your birthday right? Why not stick to my buddy's side?" 'Buddy'. That word stung when he said it.

"Yeah, you're right. C'mon." I began to walk towards the table with the cake on it. His arm rested on my sholder as we walked in sync.

"Do you want any?" I asked him.

"Any what?" I frowned at him. Was he not listening?

"Hey everyone! Time to open the presents. Tyler, come're." My Aunt Tina pulled me away from Destin, which kinda made me happy. Destim on the other hand.... he seemed really upset about it.

"Ok! Jamie you're up. What did you get me?" I asked. It was hard to focus on what she was trying to say when I couldn't get the image of Destin being upset out of my mind.

"I know how much you love Pusheen the cat and all things Kawaii, soooooo I got you..." She pulled out a huge Pusheen the cat plushie that was dressed as Ed Sheeran.

"You really love me. Thank you sis." She nodded and walked off.

After a while of unwrapping gifts and constant thank yous, it was finally Destin's turn to give his gift.

"Ummmm...... can you stand up please Tyler?" I did as asked.

"Ok. All you have to do is follow me outside." He ruffled with his dark brown hair. My green eyes filled with confusion.

He made me get on his back and brought me out of the small café. We walked about a block with all of my family behind us.

"Can I know what's going on?"

"No. You'll see."

He sat me down on the ground near a tree, which gave a a perfect view of the sunset.

"Close your eyes." He put a blindfold over my eyes.

After a minute, I could hear my sister screaming. I'm guessin that she was fangirling.

"Take the blindfold off of him Jamie." Destin said; his voice was close.

I heard a song start playing in the backround. My favorite song. Perfect by Ed Sheeran.

The blindfold came off. Ed Sheeran was on his guitar next to my sister and Destin was on one knee.

I began to cry. Destin had a box in hand and I just couldn't stand anymore. I fell to my knees.

"Tyler, for your birthday gift, I got Ed here to come and sing your favorite song to you. "

"Yeah, I can see that." I laughed, trying to keep my cool.

"And I also wanted to give you this promise ring. To show you how much I love you." His blue eyes locked with my green ones. My hands found their way to his soft dark brown hair and puled him closer to me.

"Can I kiss you?" He nodded yes as a response.

In an instant our lips locked together as if they're unbreakable chains. After a few minutes, we parted gasping for air.

"Hell, I love you. I love you so much."

"I love you too. You're staying with me tonight."

We giggled at each other. Everyone there began to clap and from what I saw, Jamie and Ed hit it off pretty well too.
