The Big Day: Time to Improvise!

A few hours later...

The setting sun that hung low over the ocean indicated the very little amount of time left for the group to do their planned surprise, and Ubercorn knew that. The thought of Xuli in hospital on her birthday stung, and he desperately wanted to do something about it.

"But how are we gonna help?" Bailey's question was the signal for clarifying his plan to everyone else.

The explanation was brief, sure, but it was enough to explain the plan to the team.

As soon as the explanation ended, everyone ran off to their positions to make some final-second adjustments to make sure they had done everything correctly. The children were the least enthusiastic about it being done so late, considering that, unlike the adults, they couldn't stay up too late.

However, they stuck to the plan and got everything done on time.

"Is everything set?" Bailey asked.

"Let's just make sure that everybody's ready." Ubercorn answered, running off to make sure everything was just as he was told.

Ubercorn headed for the Training Dome, hoping Kim and Terry had done their part in the decorations, electric and manual. He entered to find the duo of cadets plugging in the electric decorations into the nearest fuses, making sure they worked.

"Hey Kim, Terry." He said.

The two looked up at him and smiled.

"Hey, Ubercorn!" Terry chirped. The testing was obviously going well; the lights that were plugged in shone brightly in the dimly lit Dome --the kids obviously didn't want anyone to find out about the plan other than those they were assigned with--.

"You seem to be in a good mood," Ubercorn said.

"Yeah! You might as well count us done!" Kim said, "The decorations are glowing perfectly. They're ready. The manual ones have been done for a while and their testing is already completed!"

"That's excellent." Ubercorn grinned, "Get the decorations to the beach, and set them up."

"Affirmative," The cadets said simultaneously. They put all the decorations in a box, carefully sorting them out. Terry equipped his G.O. Grab and ran off, Kim racing ahead of him, telling him in which direction to go in.

Ubercorn figured that the decorations were complete, and ran out of the Dome himself.

The Launch Pad was empty from people when Ubercorn entered, apart from Lars and Alex, who were busy trying to get a pansy of a Vroomster outside. It buzzed and beeped in frustration as Alex was shushing it like crazy. Meanwhile, Lars had equipped the Truckster's winch and was trying to tow the Vroomster out, but was obviously having difficulties.

"Um...hey, you two." Ubercorn mumbled, getting the mechanics' attention.

"Oh, hey, Ubercorn." Alex answered, "Mind giving us a hand here? This Vroomster is such a pansy."

"He's not wrong," Lars quipped, before receiving an annoyed grunt from the Vroomster.

"Alright," Said Ubercorn, getting into the Vroomster's open windshield and getting behind the wheel. He slammed his hoof on the breaks and the vehicle's engines reluctantly shut down.

"Keep going!" Lars called from the Truckster's cockpit as he pressed on the gas, finally getting the Vroomster outside.

"You can stop here," Alex nodded. Ubercorn jumped off and watched in amusement as the Vroomster noticed what it had done.

SPLAT!!!

Ubercorn was greeted by a mud pie splattered directly onto his face by some sort of pie catapult. He didn't know who would find this hilarious until he heard the muffled giggles and then hysterical laughs that came from nearby.

He wiped the mud off his eyes to see who had done that; Tim and Jack, who were hysterics on the floor.

"GOTCHA!!!" They yelled, still wheezing with laughter.

"Please don't tell me that was intended for me..." he mumbled indignantly.

"Heck yeah it was," Tim laughed, "And before you ask, yes. Our part is all set. The pranks are just waiting to be tested!"

"And the pie flinger obviously works," Jack sniggered, before adding, "Judging by the look on your face right now."

Ubercorn scowled, got the rest of the mud off his goggles, and walked off before the boys could do something else.

The Flight Bay was his next stop in order to make sure how Audrey and Lily were doing, remembering that Audrey was still learning.

He looked around. The sky was getting dark, and the two gliders weren't going to be an easy find.

He was starting to think where the girls had gotten themselves to when by all of a sudden...

"BOO!!!!"

Out of nowhere, Lily and Audrey appeared behind him on their gliders as the vehicles made a soft landing on the ground.

Seeing the dumbfounded look on Ubercorn's face, Lily said simply, "Hello to you too, Ubercorn,"

Gathering himself together, Ubercorn asked the girls if they had gotten everything prepared. Audrey nodded, saying that all practices were complete ages ago, and that they were ready to roll.

Ubercorn smiled at the mention of that news. Audrey had learnt how to fly at last.

"Now all we gotta do is get our gliders into position while we set everything up!" Lily quipped, getting into her glider again.

Audrey got into hers as well as Ubercorn exited the Bay.

Foz and Ben were typing away like mad when Ubercorn came to them to make sure everything was set up tech-wise, and he was glad to get the news that almost everything was arranged.

"We just have a few errors in the systems, but other than that, everything's smooth as silk." Foz clarified.

"Even though you fell asleep at some point?" Ubercorn couldn't help but snigger at what Bailey had told him about the two geniuses falling asleep while supposed to be working.

"Can you please stop talking about that?" Ben pleaded. He was only five and half, so Ubercorn couldn't say no or object to that.

He left them to finish their work in peace. There were more things that needed tending to.

Leo was standing over the trapdoor where the new G.O. Flow was concealed, checking his tablet for things that might be wrong. And judging by the look on his face when Ubercorn walked in, everything seemed to be fine.

"You sure about that?" Ubercorn asked, just to be sure.

"You have my word about it. You know I don't want Xuli to be even more hurt before the end of the day." Leo grinned.

Ubercorn relented, but the queasy feeling of Click-on failure setting in his gut.

"I get why you're worried," Leo assured him, "and I know how you feel. There's no need to worry. You saw Lily testing it this afternoon; and we both know how reckless she can get, yet she came out unharmed."

Ubercorn knew he was probably right. If someone as reckless as little Lily can make it out of the testing unharmed, Xuli would never crash on these.

Everything was all set.

"Everything ready?" Bailey asked Ubercorn after he returned from the Launch Pad.

"All set. Everyone's just about ready to go do their things from your  list." He answered.

"Yes!!" Bailey punched the air with her fist, "all we need to do now is get Xuli here," she took out her phone, "I'll call Abigail. She can get her here in no time."

She dialed her sister's number.

"Hey, Ab, it's Bailey. There's something you gotta do for me."
