A/N: It is based off the picture above. This one shot deal with a very serious matter: school shooting. At Dick's school, there is a school shooting and he texts Wally who without a second thought races over to protect and save his birdy.

It was a very normal and slow day at school for Dick. He was already a week and a half ahead of the whole class, so he sat there gazing outside as the rain came heavily down. He was so tired and this slow day wasn't helping at all. He really just wanted today to end so he could go home and rest for a bit (haha like that was actually going to happen) before heading off to the mountain to see the team and await to see if they where going on a mission and if not then he would head home and set out on patrol of Gotham with Bruce/Batman.

So as he kept watching the rain come down while he blocked out the teacher talking about things he already knew, his eyes began to get a little heavy. 
He couldn't remember the last time he slept and actually got a good night's rest. Every time he shut his eyes and fell asleep it didn't last long and he was awaken by screaming from the terrible nightmares/memories that he kept reliving every night.

Just then, a sound of a gun went off, making Dick sit straight up in his seat. His blue eyes were wide as he listen. Everything was silent and still, everyone afraid to move an inch, it even felt like the clock had stopped ticking, because there was no sounds at all until the sound of a gun went off again followed by screams.
Dick slightly rose up from his seat but then paused. 

He was currently Dick Grayson, the orphan circus freak who was now the charity case for the rich Bruce Wayne, there was no way he could go out there and investigate and stop this. So he sat back down and reached into his pocket and pressed his com. But he got no response from Bruce and Dick sighed as he watched his teacher turn off the lights and tell everyone to move away from the door, silence their phones and sit on the ground. Dick followed the directions before quickly sending out a text to his best friend, who was currently at the mountain.

Wally had just got down training and grabbed a bag of chips and jumped onto the couch without taking the time to take off his suit. He sat down and turned the T.V. on when suddenly his phone vibrated in his pocket, he sighed as he sat down the bag of chips and pulled his phone out. Wally smiled when he saw Dick's name pop up.

He clicked it but then froze for a second. It was odd that Dick was using his 'Dick Grayson' phone instead of his Robin phone especially when he was talking about things that would deal with Robin but then it clicked and panic rose up in him.

"School shooting'' thought Wally as he quickly raced over towards the zeta tubes, heading straight to Gotham and to Dick, his best friend, his boyfriend. 
So many different things were going through his mind as fear rose up inside his chest as he ran to the school. 

Wally wasted no time to zoom throughout the school trying to locate his boyfriend. He finally found Dick at the end of the hallway with his hands up in the air facing the gun man. Wally's green eyes widen at this. Clearly Dick couldn't just sit back while there were people in this school in danger and that made Wally smile on the inside because Dick was amazing, he was such a wonderful hero.
Standing behind Dick was two younger kids and Wally could see Dick blocking the gun man's line on them. 

Just then he pulled the trigger and Wally jumped into action as he rushed down the hall, moving the two kids Dick was protecting away and down the hall before going back for Dick. When he raced back the bullets was speeding directly at Dick and Dick did nothing to move out of its path because Dick trusted Wally 100% with his life and he knew that his boyfriend would save him in the end. Wally quickly grabbed ahold of Dick and ran around the corner as the bullets ended up in the wall next to them.

Wally and Dick are now on the floor, with Wally's back pressed against the wall as most bullets fly their way. Dick has his tiny arm wrapped around Wally's neck as Wally pulls him closer towards him. Wally quickly glances down and sees Dick with his eyes held tight. Just then there was a crashing sound, and the sound of a fight before everything grew silent once more.

Wally began to rise slowly, holding Dick tightly in his arms, ready to rush his boyfriend out of here as quickly as possible.

"Kid Flash.'' he heard and turned to see none other than Batman standing there before him. Wally smiles and looks down at Dick who looks happy to see his father/mentor before him. Wally sets him down on the ground and Dick quickly glances the hallway to see if anyone is around.

"It's alright'' says Batman in a very calming voice, but it wasn't Batman who said it, it was Bruce. Dick looked up at him and then quickly rushed over towards him, tossing his arms around him and giving him a big hug. Batman returns it but then pulls away when the sounds of police sirens coming closer to them.
"Go."

After the shooter was taken to the GCPD and the police were finished talking to some of the students, they were allowed to go home. Dick sent Gordon a quick smile as he looked over at Dick. Bruce hadn't been there and Gordon seemed to be concerned for him as he hugged his daughter tightly.

Dick walked around the building, out of eye shot of everyone and saw the love of his life waiting there for him. 
Wasting no time, Wally picked Dick up into his arms and raced off down the road, heading towards the manor.

Dick and Wally didn't speak, there was no need for talking right now. All either of them wanted to do was be close to each other, to be safely wrapped in their arms. Dick snuggled up closer towards Wally and shut his eyes as Wally ran his fingers through Dick's black hair.

"I love you birdy'' whispered Wally to a sleeping bird.
