CHAPTER 6: Definitely

A/N

Pillow here with an update

From a young age, I never really did well with secrets. I mean I can keep them but I can always tell when someone is hiding something from. And for the past week Alex had definitely been keeping something from me. I think it had started after the whole aquarium thing, both she and Dani had been acting distant but obviously if I confronted them they would lie so I left it alone.

"What about the beach? Everyone loves the beach,"

"Finally, a place where you haven't been banned,"

"Hilarious, your humor kills me,"

At this particular moment we were at Alex's house and by us I mean Alex, Dani and me. Ty was still MIA, Joey and Dani were still ... feuding and Adil was at basketball practice. Evidently, with all the secret keeping it was getting awkward but Alex was determined to break the silence.

"Ok, since you all are clearly not interested how about we talk about something else," she said, probably tired with our lack of cooperation

"How, about that guy uh Jamie," Dani said "Did he end up asking you out?" she asked poking my side

"He did actually," I said quietly

"So when's your date?" she asked nudging my shoulder

"We haven't uh picked a day yet," I replied "I did meet this other guy though,"

Alex raised an eyebrow and Dani grinned

"I don't believe it," Alex said

"Well you should," I retorted

"Ok then what's his name?" Alex asked

"Well I didn't get it but he's from Clearlake,"

Alex's eyebrows were both raised by then and so did Dani's

"Ah, the joys of forbidden love," Dani mused eyeing me

"Shut up," I snapped

"Like you're the one who should be talking about forbidden love," Alex muttered before clamping her mouth shut. They (being Alex and Dani) shared a look between each other that I couldn't read enhancing my previous feelings of being left out.

This continued throughout the rest of the week and on Friday I was at Adil's, on my own this time just for hanging out sakes

"Do you think Alex and Dani are hiding something?" I asked sitting on his bed and swinging my legs

"Well I don't know do you?" he said absent mindedly

"Well yeah, they seem to be hiding something,"

"Uh huh,"

"But what could it be?"

"Yup"

"What do you think?"

"Sure"

"Are you even listening to me?"

"I thought you asked me to help me study,"

"Since when have I ever willingly wanted to study?"

I was lying on his bed now and I could already tell that he was rolling his eyes, I didn't complain though I was being a bit annoying. I sighed staring at the ceiling, it had been a week since the aquarium and I thought that maybe Jamie had changed his mind. You know maybe I should make the first move, I mean it can't be that hard just go up to him and ask. Simple right?

"Hey did you hear me?" Adil asked leaning over me and snapping his fingers in front of my face

"Sorry," I said sitting up straight

"Here's your homework," he said

"Thanks Addy," I responded smiling

"You can do your own homework next time don't worry," he said

My eyes widened "Ok ok I'm sorry," I groveled

"Alright, alright now go home," he said

"Ok, I'm leaving," I said heading out of the door

I needed time to prepare, because on Monday I was going to ask the hell out of Jamie Arvesen.

Monday came and my confidence still hadn't wavered, I was definitely going to do this ... hopefully ... probably,

I walked to homeroom, it was the end of the day by now so he should be there, and I took a deep breath and went to the table he was sitting on.

"Hi," I said

He looked up, surprised to see me and pushed some papers out of the way

"Hey, do you uh need something?" he asked his eyes back on his book

"Um yeah I wanted to ask you something,"

"Sure," he said scribbling down something from a textbook

I frowned before talking again "Hey, are you ok you look kind of stressed,"

"Yeah yeah I'm fine," he said running a hand through his hair and wincing a bit "What did you want to ask?"

"Well I was just wondering," I started taking a breath "Ifyouwanttogooutthisweekend," I breathed

"I'm uh sorry could you repeat that," he said his head still in his book

"I asked if you wanted to go out this weekend," I snapped, I was getting annoyed that he wasn't even listening

He didn't answer me

"Hello!"

He looked up at me, "Sorry, I'm not good at well, conversations. But if you still want to ... are you free this Saturday?"

"I uh yeah sure, I mean yes I am totally and definitely free on Friday, I uh mean Saturday," I said, Jamie smiled before turning back to his work. I got up and went to the door where Alex was waiting grinning. She had already seen and heard everything but that wasn't going to stop me from being so excited. Let it be noticed, that I was also freaking the hell out. And it stayed that way until Saturday afternoon when Alex, Joey, Dani and Lia were assembled in my room. Joey and Dani still hadn't made up, but it seems like in the light of a makeover truces can be formed.

"Not this it'll make her look ugly," Dani said harshly

"Well I guess you have experience with ugly," Joey said slyly

"Why you-" Dani started

But then again, they can be broken just as quickly. Alex rolled her eyes and played with my hair as Lia fished in my closet, muttering to herself.

"Do you have anything decent in this closet?" she asked

"I have what I'm wearing," I muttered

"Let me rephrase that, do you have any decent clothes in this room at the moment," she said

I gave her a look and avoided her gaze focusing instead on my reflection in the mirror,

"Well it's a good thing we came with backups," Alex said proudly lugging a stuffed duffel bag with a smile, it looked like her entire closet was in there.

"Remind us to take you shopping once this date is over," Lia said absent mindedly

And from there it began. I felt like Katniss, surrounded by her make over crew getting prodded and poked and made up. To be honest I found this whole thing unnecessary, but it was sweet that they wanted to do this for me.

"I'm telling you this one looks better," Joey snapped

"And I'm telling you it's this one," Alex retaliated

"This one compliments her skin tone"

"How would you know what compliments her skin tine you're like fifty shades lighter than her?"

"Like that matters"

"Ok fine, let's ask her then,"

At that they both turned to me Joey holding up one bottle of foundation and Alex holding up another, I think they expected me to choose.

"Uh... I think," ...

In half an hour we were done and I was walking downstairs wearing a pair of jeans and an off the shoulder blouse as well as a mix of the two foundations as not to upset anyone.

"Ah, it feels good to be accomplished" Lia sighed smiling behind her sunglasses

I smiled but thanked all of them anyway when the doorbell rang, I opened the door and Jamie stood behind it

"Hi,"

"Hey,"

"So are you ready?"

I looked over my shoulder at the girls. Alex was giving me a thumbs up, Lia was smiling and Joey was checking Jamie out, overall I think that they wanted me to go.

"Definitely,"
