Alek Hunt Part 2
*In the city of Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, Aleki is walking around with a camera crew, as he describes his living situation as a foreigner, looking to get started in wrestling.*
Aleki: This is where I started, man. I mean, I had the opportunity to train for Pro Wrestling NOAH, and it really helped me, but when I first got here, I had trouble. I had a problem with learning the language and trying to fit in with Japanese society. Many of the people didn't want me here because I was a gaijin, a foreigner, but now that I know the language and understand the etiquette and the culture, I don't have to worry about being looked down upon.
Kenta Y: We bonded really, really well, mainly due to my experience, and Aleki, he had trouble with learning Japanese, so I offered to help him learn it while giving him time to learn about wrestling in Japan. The dojo we were in was ran by Kenta Kobashi, the master of the Burning Hammer.
Aleki: I had to come up with a name so people could remember, so I thought, "What about Alek?" It would be easier for the people to pronounce, but "what about a last name?" I started going through the history of Samoa as well because I learned that the native Samoans were assassins in warfare, so I decided to take "Assassin", with "The Assassin, Alek Hunt", "Hunt" as in a hunter, like an assassin, in Samoan culture. I then decided to modify it and that's when I came up with, "The Ultimate Assassin, Alek Hunt". When I said it out loud, I was like, "Wow, that's cool! The Ultimate Assassin, Alek Hunt". That is my ring name for now on, and over time, trying to get the fans to become invested, it worked. I always learned that if you pique a fan's interest, you gotta pull them in any way, shape, or form, and have you win them over. I piqued the fans interest, pulled them, and I won them over.
Kenta: I really dug the name, because it really helped him stand out among the trainees, and I was all for him becoming the Ultimate Assassin, because it sounded cool and the fans were liking it. However, during that time, we had to take training seriously or we weren't gonna make it.
Aleki: We weren't allowed to take pictures, post on social media, no alcohol, no drugs, no partying, have a healthy diet and just a good work ethic and attitude. I wanted to be a wrestler and I think starting in Japan was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I will admit that it took me a year to adjust to my new surroundings, but through my humble beginnings in the NOAH dojo getting chopped to death by Daisuke Harada, to me beating Takeshi Morishima cleanly by submission one day in training, I made it to where I was noticed by Kenta Kobashi, and Akira Taue, literal wrestling royalty, and that earned me my first break, winning the GHC Tag Team titles with one of my best friends, Naomichi Marufuji.
*picture of Marufuji and Aleki winning the tag titles and celebrating with the fellow trainees*
*In another picture, Aleki is seen very happy, almost in tears due to his first championship win in pro wrestling*
Aleki: It was a huge accomplishment to me, personally, because all my life, I've been casted aside and now I had the chance to say, "Who's laughing now, bitches?" I mean, *laughing* I literally thought that as I held that piece of gold! I guarantee it!
Producer: How's your relationship with Marufuji today?
Aleki: Oh, it's great. Marufuji, we still talk today, still one of my best friends.
Kenta: It was just one day that Aleki and I decided to go to a Stardom show, Shining Stars, at Korakuen Hall. I then told him to dress appropriately because there's a chance that the girls might hate your tattoos, since tattoos are actually frowned upon in the country.
Aleki: I wasn't against it, so I basically just dressed in long sleeve shirt, a chain, jeans, and some kicks, right? Just very basic and casual clothes. Plus, I like black, it really suits me as you can tell. *laughs*
*pic of the interior with the fans sitting down*
Aleki: Kenta looked to get some forms about the show, and when he came back, we sat back down in our seats, you know, started to enjoy the show until this cool song was playing. Then, out came this... beautiful girl.
She had this giggly smile on her cute face, dressed in a black leather jumpsuit, with a sexy red sash around her waist, antagonizing the audience...
...and when she was about to finish her entrance, our eyes connected, and I knew right then and there that this angel in disguise was special.
Hana (footage from 2019; subtitles): I looked out into the crowd, as I was about to finish, and there was this unusual creature.
*pic of Hana and Aleki's first encounter, at a meet and greet, where Hana had her hand on his shoulder while in the far right, everyone can see that his hand was a way's away from Hana's waist*
Hana (footage from 2019; subtitles): When he introduced himself as Aleki Anoa'i, at the meet and greet I had afterwards, he had these brown eyes, that showed a lot of innocence, a shaven bowl cut, some stubble on his face that I thought was very adorable, and he won me over with the way he presented himself. And he was a gentleman, like, he never took advantage of me and he never cursed around me or any woman he's around! He never curses whenever he's around women, and that was the main thing that got me falling for him!
Aleki: I try to keep the cursing down whenever I'm around women. I try to stay as respectful as I can possible be, so whenever I'm around guys, I'll curse my ass off, but when I'm around women, I keep that down because I don't wanna be seen as an ignorant and dangerous idiot.
*picture of Hana and Aleki kissing at a theme park*
Aleki: Anyway, we started talking and when I spoke in Japanese the first time we met, at the meet and greet, she was shocked and asked me how I learned to speak it, even though I was halfway fluent.
Hana (footage from 2019; subtitles): We got along very well and I knew that it was love at first sight, even though it's a cliche thing to say. *giggles* I'm sorry, he was so cute! I just couldn't resist saying that!
*pic of Hana and Aleki spending at the beach with Hana hugging Aleki from behind, having a piggyback ride, and kissing his cheek as he laughs*
Aleki (chuckling): Yeah, and she would be the first girl I'd go on to be with.
Hana (footage from 2019; subtitles): When I started watching some of his matches, I thought he was so brutal, but also drew you in. Like, whenever he had a hold on someone, Aleki would smile with his tongue sticking out as he tortures someone. It turned me off a bit, but when he told me what it was about, I understood it.
Aleki: The tongue sticking out, that's a part of Polynesian culture... *Aleki sticks his tongue out in a demonstrative manner* it's basically an insult, meaning "I'm gonna kill you". I learned a lot from my heritage and I wanted to bring some of that into my character while I joined my cousins in Bullet Club, in New Japan Pro Wrestling, which I thought was a great place to start as I was a prodigy in wrestling!
*Footage of Rowe (Erik in WWE) having Tama up on his shoulders until Aleki runs through the crowd, jumped the barricade, and pulls Tama right off Rowe's shoulders, but when he looks right at him, Aleki smirks with his tongue sticking out to the side, shocking a lot of people.
Commentator 1: ああ、神様! アレク・ハント! 究極の暗殺者! (Oh my gods! Alek Hunt! The Ultimate Assasin!)
Commentator 2: ハントは従兄弟を助けたばかりなのに、ここで何をしているのでしょうか? (Hunt just helped out his cousin, but what is he doing here?!)
Commentator 1: 彼は私が思っている通りの人物なのか? (Is he what I think he is?!)
With the ref distracted, Aleki jumps up and gave Rowe a Skullbreaker and started beating him down like crazy, screaming like crazy as he punches him.
After Rowe pushes Aleki off of him, Anoa'i laughs, jumped up, and locked in the armbar, causing him to scream out in pain, and as he "breaks the arm", he lets go, and throws Rowe into the ring as he hides from the ref.
Tama and Tanga doing their team finisher, they got the win, and their theme plays as Aleki laughs like a crazed maniac.
Announcer: 23分43秒時点での勝者は、タマ・トンガ、タンガ・ロア、運命のゲリラです!!! (Here are your winners at 23 minutes and 43 seconds, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, the GUERRILAS OF DESTINY!!!)*
Ali: Aleki joining Bullet Club was a genius move because it really hid his inexperience. He needed to learn more about pro wrestling, and for him to join us, it was awesome, man! We rode it long and we rode it hard! We had a blast!
Tev: Aleki was crazy, he really brought something to the BC that it needed: unpredictability. He would ambush you from behind, at the front, through the crowd, he was a menace, but it worked, and eventually it lead to him finally getting into the ring to show what he can do.
Ali: And more than that, he can talk the talk! He could back up everything he said because he knew he could talk on the mic, he just never had the opportunity besides backstage interviews.
Aleki: I originally wanted to join the Bullet Club because of Ali and Tev. I haven't had the chance to hang with them since my arrival in Japan, knowing their experience in wrestling. I wanted to learn more, I wanted to take whatever knowledge they got to make myself better in the ring. I can talk, but I wanted to make sure that I had the opportunity to back it up too.
*footage of Aleki going off on Kenny Omega after his match, before giving Omega the PYT
Alek (in footage): Let me ask you something Kenneth, what the actual hell is The Elite! If you wanna be a leader for Bullet Club, then you gotta start acting like it because if you don't, that group full of [...] you got as friends? They'll drag you down more than you'll ever know!
Alek keeps going, as he continues to verbally insult Kenny.
Alek (in footage): You either be the leader for Bullet Club, or you be the leader for the so-called "Elite"! What is it gonna be!*
Aleki: To be honest, as much as I hated The Elite, there was one guy I was always a fan of and we get along to this day, Cody Rhodes.
Cody: Aleki always had nothing but kind words to say about my family and I, and when he said what he said about The Elite, I thought he was including me, but then he personally told me that I wasn't included because he never trusted the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, or anyone else for that matter.
Aleki: Cody and I had the same disdain for the Sexual Assault Commissioner...
We all know his name, but it's more cursed than Voldemort at this point, so we won't speak it, but the point is that Cody wanted out of that dreadful Stardust gimmick and the Bastard said "no", especially when his father, Dusty Rhodes, happened to be a family friend of my family, passed away. Instead, Cody asked for his release, he started traveling around the world, and when he arrived to New Japan and joined Bullet Club, that was when the friendship really took off.
Cody: If you ever met Aleki outside of wrestling, you were gonna be in for a treat because he's that much of a nice guy. He'd do anything for everyone and for him to reach out to me after I was released from WWE the first time, I knew he was my friend.
Aleki: I have a great deal of respect for Cody and his family, and I still do today, but I can't exactly say the same for The Elite as a whole.
