Chapter 33

Adrian's POV
*
Am I over thinking things or not? I actually think I'm being too lenient on Diego.
I mean, he offered sex when he came over last night and sex with him is something I always look forward to but he hurt me. I knew he was going to fuck me, he had that look in his eyes and I still allowed him to do so.
I sighed, looking down at my best friend who kept fussing over nothing. I'd think about Diego later. This is Kara's time.
"I kept it here, in my third jewelry box. I could've sworn I kept it there."
"What is it now?" I asked for the twelve thousandth time.
"My- Stephano got me a necklace with this silver pendant on my birthday. I can't find it." She panicked.
"Have you checked your drawer?"
"Yes."
"Okay baby, just calm down. We'll look for it together." I started checking the drawers unhurriedly.
"We better." She huffed.
Then her phone rang and she picked it, putting it on speaker.
"Stephano...thank goodness you called. I'm freaking out. I can't find the necklace you bought as my birthday present and then my make-up artist is just leaving the damn house when she should've been here earlier and then Adrian has been acting like a witch and then someone-"
"Baby. Calm down."
Kara sniffed even though there were no tears in her eyes and I sighed again in worry. I'd blame the wedding jitters.
"Do you want me to come over?" Stephano was quick to ask.
"I'm good. I'm fine. Are you already at the church?" Kara smiled.
"Yes."
"You better have a good reason for fixing the wedding at ten o'clock! It's too early...and even the engagement we had two weeks ago wasn't this early." She whined.
"I do. I have a good reason. I can't wait for us to exchange vows." Stephano confessed.
My eyes widened. Why was I listening to this? They were making me miss my boyfriend with all the sweetness in the air. Subconsciously, I picked my phone and clicked on our chat, already typing a message.
But then I halted. We just got back together and I didn't want to look desperate for his attention. Sighing at my predicament, I went to the gallery to stare at his pictures.
"Okay. I can't wait too." Kara was still speaking with Stephano when a slightly bumpy Rachael entered the room, slamming the door shut and throwing all the lingeries she got Kara on the bed. "I'm on an important call you bitch! Can't it wait? I can still cut your long cherished ginger hair in your sleep and make your bodyguard boyfriend despise you a teeny bit, Rachael. Don't joke with me...okay, yes I like that panty color with the cute rope at the front. Hmm, wait-" she told Rachael. "I have to go Stephano. We'll see at church okay?"
"Okay my wife-to-be. Choose the red lace lingerie set. I sent Adrian to get the extra and she snuck it into your bag." Stephano told her softly.
I exchanged a look with Rachael and we both giggled. Kara and her man were so darn cute. Who would believe she could turn such a ruthless businessman into a lovestruck man whom she now had wrapped around her pinkie?
"Stephano! You're so cheesy. I'll hang up now love." She purred and I feigned a gag. Nope, their love would never not give me sugar rush.
"Okay." He ended the call and Kara threw her phone on the bed and started checking the new set of lingeries. Literally all her undies were in red.
All thanks to me and Rachael.
Well, Stephano did hint that he wanted it to be so and he was a nice man. He even gave me and Rachael bonuses of twenty five thousand dollars for all our hard works; though we'd refused it at first until he told us he knew our friendship with Kara couldn't be measured by money's worth and he only wanted to show appreciation for being genuine friends with Kara.
Kara was a nice and easy going person though she'd been shielded her whole life and couldn't even identify if someone had ulterior motives against her but that was why she had me and Rachael. We would gladly filter out the garbage if they tried anything.
Well, it would be hard for anyone not to sincerely like her except they had an hidden agenda for befriending her in the first place.
"How are you, baby girl? You should relax a little. But why haven't you done your hair and makeup by this time when your man is already at the church? Chose one out of these hot panties and put on the rest of your underwear so you can wear the gown." Rachael told her, dabbing her forehead. The room was fully air conditioned but she was coming from outside so she had tiny dots of sweat on her forehead.
"I could tell from his voice that he misses me already." Kara sighed, smiling brightly as she stripped from her robe and wore her undies. The color matched her complexion and I smirked. Matching red bra and silk panty.
Stephano wouldn't even be able to get his eyes off her.
"Yes I heard." I rolled my eyes at the whipped look on her face while she wore the garters. Hopefully I didn't look like that when talking about Diego. It was sweet...too sweet and too lovestruck.
She put on the gown and I admired it again, falling in love all over again. I was so happy for my best friend because she was getting married to someone who loved and protected her so much.
Just what every woman deserved.
We fawned over the gown for the umpteenth time, and I brought out her shoes, and wedding jewelry box which contained her necklace, earrings and bracelet.
Maggie, the make up artiste rushed in just then, dabbing her forehead as she rushed out an apology and I glared at her. She was supposed to arrive more than thirty minutes ago!
"Sorry I'm late. My son poured his oats all over me just when I was set to leave so I had to change and then my car got stuck when I tried to settle a fight between my neighbors before I could drive out." She sighed, dropping her massive box on the ground and dismembering her things.
"Apology accepted, just come here and do your thing. If I'm late, I'll deduct one percent from your pay." Kara warned her but Maggie merely giggled as if she was used to the threats.
"I apologize once again. Now let's get started so we won't keep the groom waiting. Just as you told me, you want a very light, nude make-up that'll give that royal aura."
"Yes." Kara reminded her. And they got to work.
*
They just exchanged vows and had their first kiss as a couple!
My eyes welled with tears of happiness as I stared at them, sighing. My eyes drifted to Diego and butterflies danced in my stomach when I caught his eyes on me. His gaze was heavy.
I scowled, knowing where his mind was heading with that heated gaze.
When my gaze shifted back to the couple who were kissing again, my heart warmed at their sweetness. Their love story was surreal.
The couple were whispering to each other and Kara dabbed at Stephano's eyes. Aww. Tears of joy...
Unable to control my emotions, I walked speedily towards them and pulled Kara into a hug, now sobbing.
"My baddest bitch! Congratulations on your day of joy babe. I wish you all the happiness in the world Kara. I'm so happy and proud of you."
"You're making me tear up." She murmured, joining me. "I love you too, BFF." She chuckled and wiped her tears, but they just kept pouring out of her eyes.
I felt the strong and assuring hold behind me as I was pulled into a chest and I instantly knew who it was.
Diego patted my back and I released Kara so I wouldn't make her more emotional and ruin her makeup, even though the makeup artiste would touch it up when they got to the reception.
I hugged him and he looked down at me with those piercing eyes I was so much in love with. He patted my cheeks and dabbed at the sides of my eyelids with his handkerchief, pecking my forehead.
"I'm proud of you, baby sis." He told Kara and hugged her.
"Thank you twinnie." Kara smiled at him.
After that, we went to take pictures and each group, consisting of family, friends and associates took turns taking pictures with the couple.
At the entrance, we the bridesmaids and friends stood on a straight line and Kara threw her bouquet. We screamed and giggled because Rachael, who wasn't even concentrating on the whole bouquet-throwing thing was the one that clumsily caught it.
She blushed and looked around in surprise while we the ladies screamed and giggled.
Nathan, her boyfriend immediately grinned and ran towards her, lifting her from the ground like she weighed nothing and kissing her like crazy.
When they broke apart from the kiss, she just pushed her face in his chest shyly and they kept whispering to each other.
Giuliano approached the couple as well and then we chatted for a bit. While speaking with Giuliano, I noticed Diego kept stealing glances at me even though he was chatting with some men from his company.
Just as he was approaching us, Giuliano received a call and excused himself to answer it.
Diego pulled me into him and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Hi."
"Hi." I smiled.
"What was he telling you?" He asked casually but I could sense the curiosity in his tone.
"Who?"
"Giuliano Alfonsi."
"He was just admiring my dress and we chatted a bit about modeling and fashion. You know how he's a model and all. We have something in common."
"Hmm. We have something in common too. We're in a relationship." He commented with some indignance in his tone and I squinted at him, fighting a giggle. He had jealousy written all over him.
"Yeah yeah."
"What else did you guys discuss? He kept winking at you." Diego snooped.
I smacked his shoulder playfully. "Nothing that concerns you. It's our private talk, Diego. Stop asking, and fix your face."
"He's rumored to be a womanizer though... anyway, enough about him."
His gaze narrowed in Giuliano's direction and I giggled again.
"You look so damn gorgeous, love. Lovely gown and an even lovelier body in the gown. Also, you guys did a good job here." He looked around, tightening his hold on my waist as if I would run off if he didn't.
"Kara is my best friend. Of course I must be with her and support as much as I can, though the event planners did their job. I was just in charge of overseeing it since Kara was too busy with other things and Mrs Alfonsi thought I was the best person to oversee it. I can already imagine Kara and Rachael overseeing things and taking charge during my wedding too. There's no biggie."
"Our wedding." He corrected me immediately, looking down at me and moving his eyes over my face as I got lost in his gaze. My heartbeat sped up as I repeated his words over and over in my head.
Our wedding. A nervous smile graced my lips and he chuckled, observing my reaction.
He kissed my lips.
The couple received well wishes and gifts, which were collected by the helps that'd been hired by Mrs Alfonsi. Then they left for the reception. Kara and Stephano left with Giuliano while I left with Diego and Natalia left with Mrs Alfonsi, Stephano's mom.
When we arrived at the reception, the couple had just been called to do their first couple dance.
And I screamed as I saw the artiste that'd even been invited. Ed-Sheeran.
He approached Kara and pecked her hand while almost every lady in the room were fawning over the sight of the artiste.
In reflex, I glared at Diego but quickly diverted my gaze. He better invite The Weeknd or James Arthur or Harry Freaking Styles to perform at our wedding or else...
I tensed, my eyes going wide when I realized I was thinking about us getting married. I blinked away the overwhelming thoughts, hoping I would also have my happily ever after eventually. Diego was a great man and he was everything one would desire in a man. And he was all mine.
I literally couldn't ask for more.
Kara and Stephano danced for a while and then we joined them. Paul had arrived with his girlfriend at that time.
The couple left for their honeymoon after a while and I also left to head back to the mansion with Diego who insisted he'd missed his 'mum' even though we all knew how true that statement was.
I received a mail from my fashion and relationship blog, where one of my most active followers had just sent me a direct message and I frowned while reading the message from a certain Declan Mayor.
The message read *I promised you I would find you, gorgeous. I'm sure you remember me. The guy from the clubs few months ago. How have you been?*
I checked his profile to get more details.
Declan Mayor.
PhD holder • Naval officer • Relationship advisor • joined in 2018. Commented on 191 posts and answered 27 questions.
The person's name was Declan and he'd just sounded as if he really knew me. I searched my memory for his name, wondering why the person in the picture looked somewhat familiar.
Declan...then it clicked. He was the same guy that kissed me at the club a few months ago, that made Diego so angry that he chased me out of his apartment and even distanced himself for a while.
I sighed. I was in a relationship now and it wouldn't be good to lead him on.
*Hi Declan, yeah I remember you. I'm good, life has been beautiful. How have you been too?* I replied him and dropped my phone, resting my head on the headrest.
Diego grabbed my hand, driving with the other hand and he pecked it occasionally as we drove home, talking about the random things that happened at the wedding.
This is what I call home though. With the one you love, in a harmonious setting.
