When Sucre got out of the room and went to check on Stephanie and Dixon, they'd changed their clothes and were bringing out their home works.
He decided to quickly shower for them so he'd use that opportunity to get his mind off things.
All through washing and toweling Dixon before moving to do the same for Stephanie, his mind was on Monica as he wondered just how angry she must be with him at the moment. He let Dixon change into a comfortable house wear in his room while he changed for Stephanie in hers and told the little girl her mom would be with her soon.
After giving her the iPad and going to the spare room where his things were to make sure Dixon wasn't having any difficulty with dressing up, he finally went to the sitting room. Just then, Andrew was leaving Monica's room. Sucre instantly sat up on the chair, his body language going into defense mode as he eyed Andrew, Monica's younger brother.
They hadn't spoken since Monica magically left him four and the half years ago when she was still pregnant and he didn't know how the lad would treat him. But then again, he simply didn't care because it was Andrew and not Monica. Any other person's opinion didn't matter except Monica's.
He held a hand out. "Look-"
"You don't have to explain anything, Sucre. She told me what happened. It's saddening... but she really regrets her decision. She never told me or dad what happened after she got back from New York but she cried every night for weeks till we found out she was pregnant. That was when she told us that you hurt her and we shouldn't talk about you as you were a sore topic." Andrew explained with a glum expression.
Sucre's eyes were wide with surprise as he digested Andrew's words. She'd cried after leaving him? That meant that she had missed him too after the supposed incident.
For the hundredth time, he regretted not rushing over to Canada and just sorting things out with her. Bitterness rolled up in his gut and he wanted to beat himself up for not being more loving and trying to understand her for her actions. But it had been very hard for him at that time.
He'd been angry at her for leaving him without any explanation, and hurt, and very bitter. Especially after getting to know that she had gone to meet their college mate, Stephano Alfonsi after what she'd thought happened that night and even went to seek help from him.
That was part of why he disliked Stephano, because he was poking his nose into other people's relationship. Yet the bastard was now in a beautiful relationship with his own girlfriend whom he was totally whipped for. Kara Wilson.
Sucre heaved a sigh. "I would never hurt Monica. She is everything to me and the love I have for her is something I can't even begin to explain. She means everything to me Andrew."
Andrew could see the glum look on Sucre and he internally cringed. Love really did a number on his sister and her ex-husband. Or husband. He remembered Sucre calling Monica when he punched him earlier, meaning he probably never signed the divorce papers.
"I know that now." He nodded and heaved a sigh, stretching his hand out which Sucre grabbed for a firm handshake. "And I hold absolutely nothing against you."
Sucre scratched the nape of his neck, looking uncomfortable. He had to apologize, he'd hit him first and that too, without any clarification. "And uh... about what happened earlier, I'm extremely-"
Andrew smirked. "I get it. Now just go in there and sort out your issues. I don't want anyone moping around the jolly kids."
"Sure. How was Hawaii?"
"Oh, she told you? Hawaii was great and I enjoyed my work there." Andrew smiled as he took a seat in the couch and turned on the TV. Sucre chuckled and left.
He'd contacted the agency that invited Andrew over to Hawaii and told them to just find every means to keep him there for more than two months because he didn't want anyone coming between his reunion with his dear wife.
Monica had barely tucked the second leg into her boy shorts when Sucre came in. Her face still had traces of water as she'd just taken a quick shower to relax her muscles. She straightened, then bit her lip and quickly pulled her shorts up, fastening it at the waist.
"Sucre." She walked closer to him and placed a hand on his chest, biting her lower lip and looking up at him with sad eyes that instinctively made Sucre's heart clench. He wanted to have a talk with her but if she kept touching him with that innocent look on her face which he'd fallen for, he knew what could probably happen next.
"My Moni." He stated slowly. He'd always called her that, she was his— his alone.
"Yours. I'm all yours baby, please come have a seat here." She held his right hand and pulled him into the room. She was being so gentle and not fierce; Sucre felt his heart blossom with love and pride for this woman. Sucre followed her like a lost puppy as she made him sit on the couch and indeed he'd felt like a lost puppy a few minutes ago.
"I'm sorry baby. I shouldn't have punched him." Sucre quickly stated, not wanting any misunderstandings between them. Monica shushed him with a finger on his lips.
She didn't know where to start from and her emotions were all over the place. Sucre looked like a kid that was scared that he would get scolded and her heart clenched tightly. She didn't want him to be so sad.
"Sucre, have I told you how much I love you today?"
Sucre frowned, and then looked at her seriously. "No. But you did four days ago when we were making love."
She felt her throat go tight. She'd told him four days ago and it was because they had been making love.
She'd probably said so when she climaxed? Because, she couldn't even remember telling him so.
"Okay, let's clear that up first. I love you Sucre. I've loved you since all those years when I clung to you everywhere you went after the accident with your parents. I stood by your side when you picked up one girl and dumped the other because I was content with just loving you, regardless of how painful it was. You weren't anything other than perfect in my eyes. The most painful decision I ever had to make baby, was leaving New York without clarifying things and that will never happen again. Okay?"
She cradled his head as tears fell from her eyes while he stared at her with a complicated expression on his face. She placed his head on her chest and heaved a heavy sigh when he leaned on her with his weight. Monica had to rest on the edge of the couch so as to carry his weight.
Sucre was delighted. He hadn't felt treasured this way in a while and even when he had, it didn't come from the person he'd been expecting it. Other women were eager to have him in their beds but Monica, she rarely showed so much affection. He just couldn't help falling in love with her because regardless of it all, she was amazing.
After not being with her for several years, she was here and be could finally mock the voice in his head that kept telling him that she'd left him because she didn't want him anymore.
That day when he saw her at the elevator, he had been scared shitless that he would grovel to the ground and beg her to come back to him but knowing she was nervous was what gave him courage to go ahead with his plans. That was when he realized that she still had feelings for him. It was all a misunderstanding between them that made her get separated from him and Sucre vowed that nothing would ever come between them again.
He couldn't bear the pain a second time.
Everyone he got associated with always left at one point or the other. It started with his favorite nanny, who died from food poisoning when he was a child. Then later his parents died in that accident and his grandma had almost been assassinated several times, that was why she now had private agents following her wherever she went, apart from her bodyguards.
But Monica had stayed all those years. And he'd held on to the glimmer of hope that one day, he would claim her back as his and she wouldn't fight him one bit.
"You love me?" He questioned flatly.
Monica nodded her head vigorously. "Yes I do and you're the only man I'll ever love. I promise."
"Okay." Sucre meekly replied with just one word but in his heart, his mood had turned a hundred times better. She loved him and she would choose him over a thousand men!
He lifted his head from her chest.
"Now, I also want you to know that I would never cheat on you. I might have gone on those dates but the role of a husband will only be played by you. You're the one I always want Sucre."
Sucre nodded again, watching her shoulder length hair with slight fascination.
"Okay."
Only one word again. Monica took his hands and placed them on her breasts. His eyes widened as he stared at her with partial lust and partial incredulity.
"These Sucre, these are all yours. Since the day I left, no man touched me intimately. I just couldn't do it because they weren't you and it didn't feel right. They weren't the man I love!" As she was explaining, she slowly began to sob.
Didn't he see it in her actions? Didn't she show it enough that she loved him so much from the bottom of her heart? He was staring at her in awe as if that was the first time she would confess her feelings for him. The sight broke her heart.
Sucre gulped and slowly massaged her breasts, feeling his eyes darken with hunger. His erection was already beginning to rise to attention.
"I know you love me Monica. I was just...very scared, kind of. That you would leave me again or that you would give someone the chance to love you more than I do."
"And that scared you." Monica asked slowly, pulling his head down on her thighs and massaging his scalp slowly.
Sucre moved slowly so his head was finally resting on her thighs. His right hand went to play with the necklace on her neck, which had been one of his wedding gifts to her. Sucre decided to confess, uncaring about his bruised ego and how pathetic he currently looked.
This was Monica. He trusted her and it scared him that he trusted her so much.
"Yes, it scared me. I love you so much that thinking about you hurts my chest Moni. I tried not to love you, especially when I found out you had my baby after running from me. I wanted to hurt you."
"Then why didn't you?" She cooed and dabbed at her eyes gently. She sniffed.
"I couldn't hurt you because hurting you simply meant hurting me. You're my everything. I had to live with the thought for so long."
"I'm here now and I'll never go anywhere. I'm here for good." She reassured.
"Really?" Sucre asked unsurely. There was a thin line of uncertainty in his tone. His eyes were closed now, he was enjoying playing with her nipple with his right hand while she gently massaged his soft hair.
Monica quickly covered her mouth with a fist as sobs wracked through her body, lifting her gaze to settle them on the small chandelier on the ceiling. She calmed herself and made sure her voice was clearer.
"Really, believe me. Sleep now."
Sucre lifted his head from her thigh. The couch was too short for his six ft four frame. He pulled her towards the bed and wrapped her in his arms so tightly, not letting go.
"You know I'll never let you go right?"
"Yes."
"And you know that you're the best thing to ever happen to me, right?"
"Yes." Monica nodded again.
"Never speak of divorce...?" He asked in a whisper. She felt the pain in his voice.
"No, baby. Never." She kissed all over his face till he was smiling so widely.
She wanted him, so badly, realizing how loving this man was and also he was hers alone. But she didn't want every issue they settled to always lead to sex. Maybe after everyone was asleep at night, she would sink herself on him after a heated make out or tell him she needed to make love to him. That was one thing Sucre would never deny her.
"I love you Sucre. So much."
Sucre's arms tightened around her smaller frame, his heartbeat skyrocketing. "I love you Moni. My woman, mine. Only mine."
He kissed her sweet lips and heaved a contented sigh, groaning when she traced her fingers over his lips.
"The kids?"
"Their uncle will handle them. Andrew is fond of Dixon, so let's just enjoy this moment." She replied him with a dashing smile that made him feel so elated. Like a gush of warm air caressing his face.
At that moment, Monica didn't mind that his manhood was poking her thigh in its hardness and the heat emitting off it was making her go crazy as the little monster laid on her thigh with how their legs tangled between the sheets.
She just allowed him do what he wanted and she only fully relaxed when he made her turn around and spooned her from behind, hearing his breath even out.
