Don't You Cry No More

One shot based off my HeadCanyn:
Bill and Ted were the first (non-family) person to see the other cry. This is Bill's side of the story. Let me know if you want to see Ted's.
Sorry this is so sad omg.
Enjoy! Requests Open!

Ted "Theodore" Logan was there on the worst day of my life.

I stayed home from school that day, that week, almost. Mom wasn't eating well for a while, but Dad just told me she was watching her diet. I believed him for a while until I couldn't ignore the truth any longer: mom was really, really sick. She was going to die.

Dad tried to hide it, and so did Granny Preston, who'd make more frequent visits to the house. Usually while Grampa talked to Dad, Granny would take me in the other room to talk.

I may be pretty clueless sometimes, but I wasn't blind. I knew Mom wasn't going to make it.
We first thought she was going to pass on a Wednesday, so Dad made me stay home, just in case. We took her to the hospital and I knew it was just a time bomb waiting to go off.

Ted, of course, didn't miss a beat, and I couldn't fool him no matter how many times I said I was okay, so I had to open up to him. I ended up at his house because I couldn't stand it in my quiet little home any longer.

Ted led me right up into his room like always, but when he reached for his Iron Maiden CD, I stopped him.

"Ted, dude... it's my Mom. That's why I haven't been in school." I finally said. Saying it out loud made it real, especially since no one in my family had the guts to say it out loud to me. This was the first time I'd heard the phrase. "She's gonna die, Ted. I just don't know what to do...,"

Ted's face went white and he sat down on his bed. We looked at each other for a while in silence before Ted stared at his shoes and mumbled,
"Okay, I know I'm supposed to say something nice right now but I don't know what words to say, dude. I'm sorry."

I shut my eyes a minute and when I opened them, I pushed myself right into Ted's arms. He stiffened, but didn't move away. Ted absently rubbed my back, hushing me, and for the first time in months I allowed myself to cry about this.

I'd kept it hidden for so long, pushed down, locked away, trying to deny the truth like everyone wanted, but it was true. There was no denying it.

My eyes squeezed shut and I refused to acknowledge that I was in Ted's arms. I didn't want to face him, not like this. It wasn't manly, it wasn't strong.....

But why would I need to be strong in front of him? Why should I push it all away? If anyone in the world was going to understand, it was going to be Ted.

A few minutes later, Ted pulled away, but it wasn't to say I was prissy and weak. He got up and grabbed a box of tissues and put his arm around me again.
"Thanks dude," I muttered, stooping up my eyes. "Sorry about your shirt..."

"Dude, don't apologize to me. I get it, man. I just don't know what to say, that's all."
"You said enough, dude. Thanks for being here."
Ted pulled me into a side hug, and I felt my head hit his bony shoulder.

His dark hair got in my line of vision, but I didn't really care. It was actually pretty comfortable, especially since Dad wouldn't tell me the truth, and therefore wouldn't really comfort me if I was upset because I had "nothing to worry about."

Ted handed me another tissue and dug a bag of candy from his dresser drawer, trying his hardest to not break contact. He put his head on top of mine. I guess he thought it helped. I'd never really been hugged for this long by anyone. Except maybe Mom.

But this was definitely the longest time Ted and I sat together in silence, the longest someone had ever shown me that they care, the longest time anyone had ever given me their undivided attention. I knew it would be Ted, though. I always knew it would be Ted.

I wet my lips to speak and noticed Ted was watching my every move as though afraid I'd break.

"Ted?"
"Yeah dude?"
"I think you're the first person I've cried in front of."

Ted chuckled weakly and rubbed my shoulder, trying to think of the right words to say.

"Bill?"
"Yeah dude?"
"You're my Stallyn, dude. I'm here for you. I'll always be here. Promise."

Author's Note: This is super sad, but it's kinda my own take on what happened to Bill's mom that his dad remarried. My HeadCanyn: she died and Bill's dad was lonely, so he married Missy basically on her looks, just because he needed someone else. It really wasn't love and that's why they divorced. *shrug* Hope they cover this in BT3.

Lemme know if you wanna see Ted's story based on this.
