80: The Tale of Biker Mice and their mentor

Just about 20 years ago

Author's pov:

It was a sunny noon when one of the schools of the city of Brimstone were having a recess in between a couple of lessons, just one before lunch time. In that exact school three mamma jammas, nowadays known as Biker Mice of Mars, were getting their education like any Martian children between 7 to 15 years old.

Gray furred Modo, at the age of 14, was sitting under one of the school yard's trees, following with his eyes other kids playing around the school's yard as he waited for the next lesson to start before it would be long-awaited lunch time. He was shyer than the others, which got him just to watch them playing with each other since he didn't have enough courage to ask to join them. His shyness annoyed some of the older kids and that day wasn't actually as bright as the sky was, wasn't it?

"Hey Modo!" One kid shouted at him while a group of children played a common Martian game called the Rat of the Sanctuary. It was almost like a hide and seek mixed with a tag, but it had its own rules. That Martian boy was one year older than Modo, and he had got tagged by the game's seeker at the home base that was against one of the buildings' walls, which got him to lean against the wall to wait if someone would rescue him. The building was a very old storage room which was a forbidden area from the children, but playing outside of it was still allowed if asked from the teachers first who were watching after them during recesses.

When the boy's sharp and grinning gaze found Modo, it got him sighing and turning to look away at first before he turned to look at the auburn furred boy. "Hey.." Modo said shyly before the boy got rescued by his twin brother who had exactly the same colored fur as he. "Isn't it boring to be alone there?" The Boy asked while grinning. His tail was swinging mischievously behind his feet when his brother pushed his side with his elbow as he laughed too. Modo found it being rude which made him grimace a bit, as the way he didn't see it, but for Modo's bad, his twin did..

"Hey! My brother was being nice to you!" The Other one growled while he started to head towards the gray furred boy. "You should show some respect to the older ones!" He shouted as he came closer. His brother had a confused look on his face before he announced what Modo had done, to the whole group who had played the game with them, meaning almost fifteen students of 13 to 15 years old. "I- I didn't mean to be rude or anything.. Something just twitched my nose.. Maybe the red sand, I think.." Modo hesitated as he got up from the ground quickly. "You think we would buy that? Right Jass?" The Second one, who had come to Modo first, growled as the others joined them one or two by a time. They formed a half circle around him as his back faced the tree he had been leaning against.

"Right, Jason! I was about to ask you to play with us.. But your shyness really starts to annoy me.." The Auburn furred boy, called Jass, snorted while crossing his arms. His tail's movements told that he was displeased. Modo knew for sure that they would never ask him to join them, not that he would ever even want to play with them. Ever since his older sister had graduated from the same school, he had been mostly alone. "Yea! Why are you so shy?" The other one, Jason asked with a contemptuous grin on his face. The Twins were known for looking down on everyone that was younger than them, except the big group they always played together. Only those who they thought to be special were allowed to join them, which meant that only a few from their group were younger than 14. Some of them might have joined their group because of fear of being bullied if they didn't, since the twins were one of the worst bullies in that school.

"I.. I don't know.." Modo mumbled since he didn't want to say what he was actually thinking. "Because I don't like you.. Or being around you.." He thought while hoping that he had chosen a different tree to sit under, but he hadn't known that their group would notice him there. Such a stupidly thought.. Modo sighed in his mind when he held his breath to not do it under their bully eyes. "You don't know?" Jason started to say before he started to laugh. Soon the group started to laugh too with him which got Jass to grin and snort. "I think we should teach you a lesson.. What do you think Jason?" He said while cracking his knuckles. Modo took a quick peek up to the tree that he had been leaning against to see if he could escape there, but even the lowest branches were too high and soon he noticed the other kids circling him that there was no way out when the twins attacked him while laughing evilly.

"No!!" Modo shouted while starting to defend himself. He was thankful that he wasn't actually much smaller than the twins even if he was younger than them. He was in control of the fight first since he had only two against him, but soon the others from the group joined the fight too to help their friends, or maybe it was under the pressure and he got disadvantaged fast. That was seen from two other kids, totally on the other sides of the school yard. "He's getting beaten up!" One thought while drinking some water from a drinking machine that made a small drinkable fall of water when a button was pressed. The Young boy stopped drinking as he noticed the fight to run fast to help the disadvantaged boy.

Another boy saw that too while sitting on a branch of a tree and when he saw someone heading there, not sure would they help the gray furred boy or join the group since many others started to head there too to fight too when the fight was noticed, he jumped down the tree and headed there as fast as he could too. The Fight got escalated fast, but only those two boys went to help Modo, others joined the bullies side. Maybe because they were scared of the twins' power to humiliate and bully them, or maybe because the situation was so unclear who was fighting against who.

After a few punches and kicks the twins managed to give Modo as he fought back, he noticed that the group started to back off. That got the twins to lift their heads up just before they got punched to the red ground of Mars. "Leave him alone!" A Tan furred, 12 years old Throttle shouted as he had punched Jass straight to his jaw. He had been the boy who had been drinking from the machine when he had noticed the fight. "A Whole group against one, really?!" A White furred, 8 year old Vinnie growled while he and Throttle had pushed through the group and made them to back up. Vinnie had been the one sitting on a branch of the tree and he was much smaller than the others. "And you are? Or were, since when we have taught this boy a lesson, we'll do the same for you!" Jason laughed even though his temple hurt after Vinnie's slam from his tail.

"Throttle, the Son of Felix" Throttle growled loudly to make the whole group hear his name. Even if he was mostly quiet and a bit shy too, he had gotten stronger and braver during the last two years of getting some lessons from his mentor. Now he was using what he had learned to protect another kid from bullies. "Vinnie!" The Young white furred boy shouted as he followed Throttle's lead without him even saying anything to the younger one. The Power in Vinnie's voice made him sound older than he even was. His name got some of the students from that group to start whispering and mumbling something, which got the twins even more annoyed. "Vinnie? No last name? What kind of name is that?" Jass started to laugh which got Vinnie to attack him right away. Jason tried to help his brother to take the eight year old boy off his brother, but instead of managing to do it, he told the whole group to help them.

"Fifteen against two and more coming.. Ain't any better" Throttle counted as he started to defend himself with the skills he had learned so far. "Made it three. Five to each of us" Modo's back faced his back soon when the gray furred boy got enough courage to stand against the bullies. "If those younger kids are brave enough to help me, why wouldn't I be the same?" He thought before seeing Throttle nodding at him with a confident smile on his face. "Thanks!" Throttle said as they fought together which made them even stronger while Vinnie was busy with the twins, soon facing the fact that he was even more disadvantaged than Modo since he was multiple times smaller than them. "I'm Modo by the way" Modo said as he punched one of the kids that was about to attack Throttle to his back.

"Nice to meet you-.. Modo!" Throttle managed to say before he heard Vinnie's shout. "Let's help Vincent!" He said, getting a nod as an answer from Modo as they got through the group to head to help the white furred boy. Meanwhile, when the fight had gotten a lot of attention from other kids, one other girl had ran to the teachers that had been at the other side of the yard during that. The girl was Mericy, Modo's older sister, who had come to bring Modo his forgotten book that he would need in one of the evening's lessons. She was soon graduating as a chef from the career college.

When Mericy had ran to the teachers to tell about the ongoing fight, one of them hurried to call Modo's mother before they would inform other children's guardians when they'd get the fighters names down. Soon the fight was over after the teachers had come to the storage area and Modo, Throttle and Vinnie had got detention with the twins and everyone who had taken a part in the fight. Those who had just stayed watching and were provoked by the fighters got triple homework for a week.

"Why are we getting detention?! We just helped Modo!" Vinnie growled as one of the teachers dragged him to the headmaster's office by his shirt since he had lost his ability to walk all of a sudden. Throttle and Modo were walking beside him, not having any kind of rush to meet the headmaster after the twins and the others had been taken there first. "There are some mice who would want to meet you all.." The Male teacher just growled back at the trio as they looked at each other with ears down. "If the Queen makes us go to jail, then it's bad! Otherwise.. I don't think so.." Vinnie answered with a snort following it. "You might soon wish it would be Her Majesty Herself.. Like She wouldn't have more important duties than to punish misbehaving kids!" The teacher said when he opened the door, that the three boys would see the headmaster waiting for them already. Other kids had got to the nurse to deal with their wounds they had got from the damage, meaning mostly the twins. Modo, Throttle and Vinnie had got there first while they waited their turn to meet the headmaster.

Jass' left eyelid had started to swell while Jason had got multiple scratches from facing the red ground a few times during the fight. Jass had lost one of his teeth and had got many bruises too. Jason's right ankle had got twisted as badly as Throttle's other wrist. Vinnie had hurt his other ear and also got a few scratches. Modo's both knees had got cut open as well as he had got a couple of bad punches to his face and stomach. Other students that had taken part in the group fight had got rather similar kinds of wounds and damages. Everyone would heal normally according to the nurses who patched them, but maybe the punishments and consequences were worse than the physical damages.

"Oh no.." Modo mumbled under his breath as he tried to hide his face from his mother who looked very displeased after she had got a call about what had happened. She had left from her work immediately and when Adira had got there, Mericy had given her the book which she would give to Modo since Mericy had to hurry to her own school that was almost half an hour away from his school. "Modo.. Are you alright?!" Adira's reaction surprised him because he had thought her being mad and thinking that the fight had been his fault. The Gray furred female ran to her son when the teacher told the three boys to walk in the headmaster's office before he left back to his own duties with another class.

"Mama.. I'm.. I am sorry!" Modo apologized while hugging back his mother who gently patted his head while looking at the headmaster before noticing Throttle and Vinnie looking down the floor. There was one other mouse in the room too, but no-one who would be as worried about them as Adira was about her son. Not that Vinnie had expected to see his foster family's guardians there, but he had thought that at least one of them would have been there for him. That made him look at his feet with a hurt expression before he saw Throttle doing the same next to him, but instead of being alone like he did, Vinnie saw that Throttle was avoiding to look at the mouse that was standing right in front of the headmaster's table, or next to it if looked from their perspective.

When Vinnie turned slowly to look up to the strange male mouse he saw standing there, the headmaster spoke. "I would like to hear what happened. I have heard the version from other students, but since you three seemed to be the disadvantaged party, I need to hear it from you too. Meaning the truth, boys.." The Male mouse with dark gray fur said as he sat on his seat behind the table. The Brown furred male mouse leant against the table with his other hand, but he stayed silent while looking directly at Throttle who didn't look back at him.

"Throttle. The Headmaster spoke to you" The Male said, making the young boy gulp and turn slowly to look at the headmaster instead of the male who he did see in the corner of his eyes. "I see I'm not popular here, Headmaster" The Male chuckled which got the headmaster smile too. "Understandingly, Stoker, but if I hear the truth, there might be a chance that I wouldn't be mad" The Headmaster said before Adira spoke while still hugging Modo as she had knelt down. "You are not mad, Headmaster, did I hear you correctly?" She was as surprised as the kids were when Throttle turned to look at Vinnie before they turned to look at Modo who was looking at them when he let go of his mother.

"Only if I hear the truth.. So boys.. Who would like to start?" The Headmaster said while writing something down as he waited for the answer to his question. "We just defended Modo!" Vinnie blurted out before continuing. He didn't give the adults a chance to say anything in between. "Why should we get detention when we defended a kid who was being bullied?! That's not fair! Bullying is against the rules as you always say, so why are we getting punished if we stand against it?!" Vinnie growled as he tried to look brave and strong even if it hurt him that no-one had come to see him. He wasn't sure his foster parents would even care since they didn't show up.

The Brown furred male mouse, called Stoker, turned to look at the headmaster after facing the white furred boy's pink eyes. His gaze was patient but powerful as he let the headmaster talk. He saw not only confidence but also something else in the young boy's eyes. "Vinnie" The Headmaster started when the boy spoke over him. "Those older kids should be kicked out of this school! They attacked Modo for no reason!" He spoke fast before hearing the headmaster raise his voice when he almost shouted the boy's name. That got Vinnie to look down and drop down his ears.

"Vinnie. I see you have a big heart, but violence is not the way we deal with things in our school. You should have informed a teacher about the fight, not to join it. Same goes with you, Throttle" The Headmaster said while turning to look at Throttle from Vinnie, and when Throttle saw Stoker looking at him too, he turned to look down at the floor. "Are your shoelaces so interesting that you don't even say hello to me?" Stoker said which got the ears of the tan furred boy to twitch. "Hello.." Throttle mumbled but didn't want to face his mentor's eyes. That got Stoker to sigh while he tried to stay patient with the kid. He knew that Throttle had his guards up with the way he was acting towards the male. The Tan furred boy was probably scared, which was the reason Stoker tried to stay calm instead of being angry.

"Hey Throttle.. My patience has its limits and I know you know it.. Look at me, now" He demanded, making Throttle finally turn to look at him. "Good. So now you tell me" He started and turned to look at the headmaster who nodded at him. "What happened?" He asked gently as he squatted down to face the boy better. Throttle looked at Vinnie and Modo first before he turned to face his mentor again. He had been proud to use his skills in the fight that he had learnt from Stoker during the last two years, but now he wasn't sure was it the right thing to do after all. More likely yes, but he wasn't completely sure. "I.. I was drinking some water.. When.." Throttle started when he saw Vinnie turning to look at him too. "Go on.." The Headmaster said while they all looked at the tan furred boy. "Jass and Jason were bullying me! They started the fight.." Modo blurted out while he was ashamed of telling that he was bullied so that his mother heard it. "Oh Modo.. You did nothing wrong. We all know it. We saw it from the security cameras" Adira said gently before getting a glare from the brown furred male.

"Ma'am. I respect your way of raising your child, but it would be better if the boys told what happened.." Stoker said but then saw the headmaster lifting his hand up that got him to sigh, get up and sit on a seat behind him. He crossed his arms when he lifted his leg over the other. His eyes kept looking at Throttle. "Why are you here anyway?" Throttle asked as he had expected his foster parents to be there, at least one of them, maybe the mother but he wasn't actually sure. Instead of either of them, Stoker had come, why?

"I have my reasons, but it'd be better if you continue telling us what happened" Stoker said before turning to look at Vinnie who defiantly took a step forward. "If you saw what happened, why do you keep asking about it?! If the cameras showed you the truth, you know we were just defending him!" Vinnie growled and didn't even flinch when the adults looked back at him when he pointed at Modo with his other hand. That got Stoker smile and chuckle before he started laughing while the headmaster looked the exact opposite, as much as Adira looked confused after hearing the male laughing.

"What is so funny?" Vinnie asked which made Throttle and Modo shrug as Modo walked to them from his mother. "Maybe it's better if we all sit down. It would be much more comfier" The headmaster suggested while Adira joined to sit next to Stoker after agreeing with him. There were three other seats, two next to Stoker and one at the other side of Adira. Modo chose the seat next to his mother while Throttle sat next to his mentor. Instead of sitting down, Vinnie just turned to look away.

"Vinnie. Sit down" The headmaster said calmly while Throttle patted the seat next to him. Vinnie kicked the flooring with his other leg before smiling a bit to Throttle as he sat next to him. Stoker followed their movements with his eyes, but didn't say anything. He understood the three boys more than he told out loud. "Good. So now, would any of you three like to explain that fight?" The headmaster said while writing something down again. "And to your question, Vinnie. We want to know what you thought and felt about the fight, what happened in your point of view. That's why we keep asking it as long as you'll talk" He continued, making the boys take a peak at each other behind Adira's and Stoker's back, like they wouldn't see it at all. That made Stoker grin while shaking his head a bit as Adira smiled and tried to not show the boys that she saw what they did. Only the movements of Stoker's tail showed Throttle that his mentor knew what they were doing, but soon his tail slowed down which told that he seemed to be quite impatient.

"During this day, please.." Stoker said as he looked at Throttle from the corner of his eyes. He had his arms crossed, but Throttle couldn't tell if he was mad at him or what. "Fighting might not be right.. But.." Throttle started and continued after the headmaster nodded him to. "I, or I'm quite sure to say that.. We. We couldn't leave Modo alone after seeing what happened!" Throttle said and got a proud nod from his right side, meaning Vinnie. "Right! More kids joined the fight, but no-one defended him!" Vinnie added, which made Stoker look at him this time from the corner of his eye. He was thinking about something as he rubbed his jaw.

The Headmaster wrote something down again while Adira also let the boys do the talking. She wouldn't even know what to say. Modo had never mentioned those boys and now they had helped him while others had joined the bullies side, and she wasn't the only one who was thinking about that. "Why did you join his side? Not the bullies' side?" Stoker asked while rubbing his jaw. "Huh?" Vinnie wondered while looking at confused Throttle. Modo was also curious to hear the answer. "It would have been easier for you to join the bigger group. You wouldn't have gotten beaten up.. And to get those wounds.." Stoker said while the headmaster kept writing.

"And to leave him alone?! Are you mad?!" Vinnie stood up and growled at Stoker who just smirked at the young boy. "Oh right.. I know what you are! A Bully! Much bigger bully!" He continued and didn't even care about the headmaster who coughed as a sign for him to stop. "You know what.. I hate mice like you! I hate bullies! They just bully smaller and weaker ones for no reason!" Vinnie said but then saw Throttle looking at him. "Don't you agree, or are you at his side? Throttle was it?" Vinnie said while pointing at Stoker rudely. "I.." Throttle mumbled before nodding. Before he managed to say anything, Stoker leaned towards Vinnie while leaving against his knee with his other arm. "And what you, a tiny eight year old, are going to do about it?" Stoker chuckled, but before anyone could say or do anything about it, Vinnie started growling when he kicked Stoker straight to his face, making the male groan and lean back.

"Vinnie!! Two hours more detention!" The Headmaster shouted as he pointed Vinnie to sit back down immediately. Stoker leant back, his head upwards so he was looking at the ceiling while holding his nose that had started bleeding. Adira had gasped and was shocked about the young boy's behavior as she hurried to get some paper for the male. Even Throttle and Modo were surprised. "Like I'd care!! Adults don't know how we really feel!" Vinnie shouted back as he tried to hold himself from not crying. He was hurt that no-one cared about him, not even the adults. It had always been that way, and he was getting used to it, till..

"Don't we? I have heard that Peach Pearls are still one of your favorites.." Stoker said after thanking the gray furred female for her kind act. His words got Vinnie to freeze when he was about to leave the office without permission. "That's right.. I know you still remember, Vinnie" Stoker smirked while looking at the kid who turned his head down as his ears dropped down too. "I'm sure you remember it too" Stoker said while looking at Throttle who looked alternatively at both of them. "Oh right.. I do! You stole my sandwich" Throttle smiled when he remembered meeting Vinnie a couple years ago when he had started his training with Stoker some time before it. "It was you who gave me that fruit.." Vinnie said when he remembered Throttle being that four year older kid there. Then he turned to look at Stoker who had stuffed some paper into his nose to stop the bleeding. He felt so guilty about hurting him, since Stoker had been the one who had actually ever shown that he cared about him. Stoker had saved his life and this was what had got back from him.

"I'm sorry.." Vinnie dropped down his ears while turning his back. He didn't want anyone seeing him sobbing, but then he felt a hand on his shoulder that made him turn to look at the brown furred male. Stoker had got up and walked to the boy after seeing him being about to cry. "It's alright. Every feeling is alright, Vinnie" Stoker smiled gently while opening his arms. "Come on here" He said before Vinnie hugged him and apologized that he kicked him. "What about the fight?" Adira said, not only to get Modo and Throttle to turn to look at her and the headmaster to give Vinnie some time to calm down, but also that the topic had changed from the essential.

"Yes, about that. Stoker, what do you say?" The Headmaster asked when Stoker and Vinnie sat back down on their seats after Vinnie had calmed down. Throttle smiled gently to him as he tried to tell him it was alright to cry, but Vinnie took it wrong and growled at him. That made Throttle drop down his ears which got Vinnie to apologize to him. "I say that I'll take these three as my problem" Stoker said while standing up from his seat to walk next to the table to face the boys and their confused expressions, but not only they were confused.

"Take these three? Where?" Adira said while standing up in front of Modo. "No-one is taking my son anywhere!! Especially not to the military this male's working for! It's no place for a child!" She raised her voice and was practically hissing at the males. "Ma'am, calm down, please. Let him finish" The Headmaster said calmly and showed with his hand that Stoker could continue. "I have been training Throttle for two years now. I took him and Vinnie to their current foster families, but I see that they aren't the right ones for these boys. So-" He was about to say but Adira interrupted him. "MY son doesn't need a foster family! How could you even-" She growled but then Stoker continued calmly but confidently.

"I could transfer these two boys to their new homes, where they would have proper families with love and care. Along with their new mentor, who would train and take care of them as a kind of another parent, maybe a guardian would be more like it. And no, I'm not taking them to the military since it's not allowed and I agree with you that it's not a place for children, but some day when these three are old enough, they will be soldiers of Mars. But how strong and magnificent? That's what we can still affect and it's only for their good if they know how to survive in life and through hard times" Stoker said, while looking at Adira who blinked a couple of times as she looked at him before turning to look at the boys and then back at him. She also looked at the headmaster who nodded at her with a smile on his face.

"That's right Adira ma'am. You see yourself that these boys are already one of their kind. They need homes. Better environment to grow. Mars needs more mice like these three already are" The Headmaster smiled at the boys who started to smile proudly back after looking at each other. Vinnie even tried to look bigger as he puffed out his chest that almost made him fall off his seat. That got the adults smile while the boys started to laugh. Even Vinnie laughed, the first time with the way that he enjoyed laughing at himself, with his new friends.

"If you mean under my roof, it would mean.. Four kids.. To take care of myself.." Adira sighed while looking at the laughing kids. They seemed to go so well together that she would feel bad to separate them. "Not by yourself, Adira ma'am. With me. And no! With all respect, I'm not trying to hit on you" Stoker said and lifted his hands up in the air, making the female lift up her other eyebrow. "As much as you surely are gorgeous, but I'd be another guardian for the boys. I'd take care of them as well, so all wouldn't be on you. I'd train them to become stronger, to help them to deal with bullies or anything the world throws at them" Stoker said while the headmaster turned some papers around for them. He had been writing down the information about getting the boys, mostly Throttle's and Vinnie's custody. It would be dealt with their foster families too, but as much as Stoker and the headmaster knew about them, they were quite sure that it would be alright if the boys got transported to better homes.

"The Boys would continue their school path normally. This wouldn't affect that" The Headmaster said while Adira was thinking about the whole thing. She saw that on the papers it was written that Throttle would move to her home while Vinnie would still be transported to somewhere else. That would mean one more mouth for her to feed, but why didn't the white furred boy get to move with them? "What about the bullies?! Jass and Jason?" Modo asked, making Vinnie to continue. "And their group.." He said while doubting that they would even get punished. "They are already punished, but the twins have now received an official warning. If I get to know one more bullying from them, I'll get their school changed" The Headmaster said, which got the boys so relieved to hear that. But what about their own future?

All three of them turned to look at Adira who had kept silent as she thought about Stoker's idea. When the brown furred male was about to say anything, she talked. "How old are you?" She asked, making Stoker confused now. "26, why do you ask?" He answered while looking at the headmaster for a moment. "Have you any experience of raising children? Not talking about those two years when you have trained that boy for some days.. I mean raising them. Really" She asked while thinking that the young male would change his mind later and leave her with one or two kids that weren't even hers. She was used to raising her own two children alone after her husband had passed away, but more kids alone would be too much for her.

It took some time from Stoker to answer, but when Adira was about to deny his offer, which made the boys drop down their ears and tails as they really hoped to get siblings and better lives, he turned to look at the female again from the boys. "Yes I do. For over ten years" Stoker said which actually got Adira surprised. He continued before she asked the question he knew she was probably thinking. "I know that raising these three means that we need to trust each other fully, but this isn't the moment when I'd open my life more for now. I assume you understand" Stoker said calmly, getting a nod as an answer. "What do you say, Adira ma'am?" The Headmaster said, which made her turn to look at the boys when Modo grabbed her hand after getting up from his seat.

"Please mother.." He said the way he was trying to get his mother to allow having a pet in their home, only the "Can we keep them" was missing out from his question which made Adira chuckle a bit. Throttle and Vinnie looked at her too, but mostly Throttle looked at Stoker and Vinnie looked at the floor. He wasn't so sure that he would hope or trust that much. "Alright.. But we'll do official paperwork and talk everything through" Adira said, which got the boys to start to cheer up before the headmaster reminded them about the detention they would still need to face later today. That got them to start whining even if they still were more happier that they would actually get part time new homes and brothers even if they weren't sure where they would even live, what they would even call their new home.

Later that day Stoker had told the boys that only Throttle was moving now to Adira's home, and he wasn't surprised that Vinnie had got shocked and angry about it. When he was about to run off the school as he threatened that he would never go back either to his foster family too, Stoker grabbed him in a hug and told him that he would move to a new home too. He would take care of him part time with Vinnie's own aunt, Mago, because she was his only biological relative alive. Vinnie wasn't pleased, nor either surprised that he would move to another home again, but Stoker promised him that he would go to visit Modo and Throttle as much as he wanted, and maybe there would be a change that he would move to Adira's home later too if the living with his relative didn't work out.

Mentoring the boys had started well since they got along together better than even he had expected and Stoker was really happy that he had been visiting their school that day. He had seen the fight by sort of an accident when he had come to meet Throttle there to talk about the boy's foster family where he had some troubles to live in. When the brown furred male had seen the three boys fighting together against the bigger group of mostly older kids than they were, he had seen potential in them. And even if he was already raising his own 12 year old niece back then, Stoker never regretted that he took the boys under his wings. But Stoker never could even guess that the boys would mean the world to him, which wasn't always a good thing.. Not especially when he had to be careful with his girlfriend.. The Crown princess, whose family's lives were threatened.. And they weren't the only ones..

"BROS!!" Stoker woke up in the hospital bed while panting heavily. He had seen that memory in his dreams, which at the end of it had caused him even to sweat as he started to feel so anxious about what had happened later back then. After a while of panting as he had sat up too fast when he had woken up, he noticed his head aching which got him to lay back down. He kept his eyes closed to try to calm himself down from the memory, before he opened his eyes to see the hospital room properly around him. He sensed a familiar smell which got him to sigh and feel even a bit calmer.

"Mmh.. N- Niv.." He mumbled while being able to smell her sense that told him that she had been around him lately, even if he couldn't tell exactly when. He tried to not think about the memory he had seen in his sleep, or what it was about to turn into just before he had woken up, since it made him still feel anxious. He also noticed that his head felt a bit odd for some reason, and then he remembered what had happened before he woke up in the hospital..

Stoker's pov:

"Why am I in a hospital? What happened?" I thought to myself when I had opened my eyes to see myself alone in a hospital room. My head felt weird and the last thing I remembered was that I was going to the highly secured prisoner hospital with Niv, to see Dan. Wait.. Has something gone wrong? Was Niv safe?! "At least I can still smell her.. She might have just left here.." I thought while looking around the room carefully, trying to turn my head as least as possible. I assumed she was safe even if I was still worried about her safety, which wasn't the only one I had been worried about lately. I was also worried about my niece, Carbine.

I knew I was supposed to make sure the security of her and her newborn was added to the highest level as it could be after the royal family's. I couldn't take any risks if they were in danger too, which got me actually worried since I couldn't do anything for that from the hospital bed. She had gone a lot lately and it would be too much if something happened to her and her son too, even if she truly has always shown one of a kind special talent which reminded me of someone else. Someone, who had been very close to me as a child, Milenia. Her mother, my older sister.

"What should I do with her, Mile? Or that's how Terry called you and then it ended up being your nickname.." I sighed deeply till I noticed my voice being quite raspy actually. I coughed a couple of times to clear my voice a bit. I looked a bit to the ceiling before I continued talking. "She just gave birth to your grandson.. She would.. All of us would be happy if you'd have a chance to meet Felix. But.. I'm more worried about their safety and Carbine's mental health.. She lost her husband.. Felix lost his father before even meeting him.. Almost like she had lost you and Efir when she had been not even one year old.. Gosh that still feels like yesterday and it still feels so horrible.. I miss you so much, sister.." I said to myself and noticed a tear rolling down my cheek when I turned to look down. Somehow I felt myself quite emotional and all those memories got brought back to my mind clearly, the way they had just happened recently.

I wasn't sure if my older sister could even hear me from the Paradise, but it comforted me a bit to talk to her like it could clear my mind even a little bit. I didn't know why she came to my mind for now, was it only because I was thinking about Carbine or had something happened at the highly secured prisoner hospital that caused me to remember old times, I didn't know. But what was it, I felt multiple feelings that I didn't know the most for now. It was as weird as those memories kept popping to my mind kind of suddenly.

It had always helped me to talk to her, but then she was taken away from us all of sudden. I had been 18 years old when I had moved to Brimstone with Carbine who I had decided to take care of, with help of my brothers when they had time. It was a very hard time after what happened to our parents too, which caused me to be more responsible and take care of a baby even if I was the youngest of us. So many things happened after that and about ten years later I started to take care of three Martian boys too while still raising Carbine. Not the easiest thing to do especially when Niv and my weddings were one year later after that.. First and last royal weddings where I hope to be part of. Such a fuss.. But those three exact boys had changed my life more than anyone else. More than Carbine or even my own wife, Niv, which was a lot to say.

Those three boys.. Those three boys I raised partly as my own, even if I couldn't take care of them full time. And when they were older, it felt more like they would have been my bros since sometimes I saw something of them that reminded me of myself with my own brothers that I lost too early too. I know my life hasn't been the easiest, but I still wouldn't change a thing from it, not especially what came to those kids. They were difficult to take care of at the same time I had to raise Carbine on my own, but luckily there was Adira who helped me with taking care of the boys. Was it just a coincidence that after seeing the memory of the three boys, I started to look back to my sister and her daughter? I had rescued them from their hard beginnings of life. All three of them, the Biker Mice of Mars.

"Bros.." I sighed deeply while I somehow remembered that memory again. Throttle. Vinnie. Modo. I missed each one of them. Which reminded me about something that made me get up the bed, even if I felt still a bit weak. "I can't lay in a hospital.. I have to go.." I said to myself as I slowly lifted my feet to the ground, got up to stand on them before I started to walk slowly towards the door while I leant against the hospital bed to make sure I wouldn't fall..

Author's pov:

So, Princess Niv had just left the room with the doctor when Stoker finally started to show some signs of waking up after a long time being unconscious. The Doctors had denied the princess' offer of her searching his brain to find out what was wrong, and later Niv had given her permission for one of the highly educated brain doctors to do it instead. As his wife, she would have wanted to do it, but they had talked her over about her own safety as a royal and the next Queen, for which she had growled but accepted it since she would have heard about it from Stoker for a long time if she messed things up now and put herself in danger. She couldn't take a risk to end up in a coma again, if it was a possible since no-one knew what Dan had managed to do to Stoker and how it would affect on those who tried to search his brain to find out what was wrong since the results of the operations told that everything should have been fine, that clearly wasn't.

Right after the doctor left the room with the princess, Stoker had mumbled and his eyelids moved a bit. A Groan followed after it and those were the first signs from him to react any kind of ways after he had been taken out of the mutated rat's cell, and when it had been safe, he had got transported to another hospital from the highly secured prisoner hospital where he could be taken care of better as a partner of the crown princess. It would have been too risky to treat him there along with dangerous prisoners of Mars.

The Dream he had seen had been his own memory and Stoker had first met Throttle when the young tan furred boy had got transported from the North to the city of Brimstone when the orphanage where he had been living got burned. Throttle had been eight years old when Stoker had picked him and younger girl mouse Yaemi from the station. He had been responsible for taking the children to their new homes. Some time later he had found starving five year old Vinnie from the streets and taken him to the hospital. He had made sure the young boy had got better, but finding him a new home had been more difficult. Modo he had met via his parents. Both Dan and Adira had been in the army, Adira being a nurse and Dan a mechanic.

A couple of years after meeting them, Stoker had started to take care of the three young boys. Vinnie had been 8 years old, Throttle 12 and Modo 14 years old. He had started Throttle's training when the young boy had been ten. Six years old Vinnie had been there and met Throttle too since Stoker was trying to find a new home for him. Throttle had been in a foster family but some time later Adira had taken him to her place, later Vinnie too.

But didn't the Biker Mice meet as an adult for the first time properly when Vinnie joined their group? If they did.. Why would Stoker have that kind of memory? Why would he remember anything like that? And to where he had such a hurry from the hospital while still being clearly convalescent?
