Chapter Five
When the other six boys realized Taehyung had gotten ready, they too snapped into their spots, cutting off Al conversation and waited patiently for me to start the music. I pressed start on the track Tae had told me came first and as soon as the music began, so did the boys. Their movements were graceful yet somehow kind of jerk-y, obviously rehearsed that way. My jaw hung wide open as I watched them in awe. The boys were completely in sync even when they were doing different moves, they all completely matched the music's pace and didn't falter at all. Although they had looked nervous at first, I could feel their confidence radiating off them in waves once they got into it. As Jungkook moved to the front of the group, he caught my eye. As a big-shot CEO, I couldn't ever imagine seeing him this way. So casually dressed, droplets of sweat clinging to his flawless skin, his hair mussed up and a small smirk tugging at his lips. It was so unlike what a CEO should be, and briefly I wondered if this was his true passion. Noticing my piercing, slightly zoned out gaze, Jungkook shot me a wink before he finished his part and Taehyung grabbed his arm and they folded their backs to each other. At one point in the dance, six boys split up into two groups of three and bent down, each one of them facing each other with a knee bent to each other. As Yoongi's part began, he ran across their bent knees and jumped to his place in front of the group. My jaw hadn't closed yet since they began their dance. I was completely and utterly awestruck at their magnificence, and I wondered how I hadn't heard of them. When they finished and the music died out, the room was enveloped in silence. The only sound that could be heard was the seven boys panting, trying to catch their breath. They all looked at me expectantly but I couldn't bring myself to say anything until Jungkook smirked at me and asked, "so how did we do?" I jumped up and squealed like a little girl. "Oh my God, that was so hot!" At realizing what I'd just said, my entire body heated up with a dark red blush and I covered my mouth with my hand as the boys all showcased different reactions. Some of them burst into laughter, some of them grinned, and others smirked. Trying to save myself I said, "I mean... I bet you're all hot and tired after that lively performance so I'm just gonna go... Get you some water. I'll be back." I turned and rushed toward the door, trying to get the hell out of there as soon as possible. Before I could, however, a warm hand wrapped around my arm and stopped me. "I'll go with you," Jimin said. I started to shake my head as Jungkook spoke up. "Hyung, you were already late to practice, you need to stay and catch up." I nodded at Jungkook's words and pushed Jimin back toward his band mates. "I'll be back," I mumbled and quickly escaped out the door. I sighed heavily once I was safely down the hallway. "How do I always manage to make a fool of myself?" I grumbled. There was no escaping my awkward tendencies, I guessed. All was well until I ran into a hard, buff body, as I wasn't paying attention to where I was going because I was so lost in my own pity party. I looked up and met eyes with a tall, scary looking older man wearing a suit. "Who are you and how did you get in here?" He asked calmly but sternly. I gulped and tried to explain my relationship with the boys to him but before I could get one word out, a voice behind me did the work for me.
"She works for me at my company, hyung," Jungkook said. I sighed with relief and Jungkook came to my side. The scary man's expression changed drastically as he began to smile. "Oh, so glad to meet you. What's your name?" I returned his smile and gave him my name. "I'm Bangtan Sonyeondan's manager," he explained. I nodded in understanding. He had probably thought I was a crazy fangirl or something. Jungkook chatted with the man for a little bit and I took the opportunity to try and weasel my way out of the situation. "Yah! Where do you think you're going, Rosella?" Jungkook chided me. I cursed under my breath. "To get water," I said but it came out as more of a question. Jungkook shook his head sternly and I sighed, returning to his side. "So what is your employee doing here?" The man asked. I scratched my arm awkwardly. Jungkook pursed his lips and said, "ChimChim took it upon himself to make a new conquest out of my newest employee." The man shook his head with a sigh. "The boy never learns, does he?" He asked. I looked back and forth between the two males, extremely confused. "Well I'll go check up on them now," the man said before disappearing down the hall. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked, "What was that about?" Jungkook motioned for me to follow him and we continued on the way out of the building. "We have business to discuss," he said shortly. I groaned. How could I work for him? I'd nearly hoped he'd forgotten about the whole thing. We were silent until we got into the elevator. "You'll start work tomorrow at nine," Jungkook simply said. My jaw dropped. "W-what?" I sputtered. "Why so suddenly?" Jungkook shrugged. "I need you to get settled in immediately. There's much to be done," he said. I sighed and asked, "What all does my job entail?" Jungkook stepped out of the elevator first and waited for me before he replied, "You have to do paperwork, organize company meetings, that sort of thing." He seemed like a completely different person than who he was when he was in the BigHit building dancing. Rain bounced off the sidewalks as Jungkook and I walked outside. The sky was a light gray color, and the rain, although light, was stinging cold. I bit my lip to keep my teeth from chattering. Jungkook glanced at me. "Neither of us were quite prepared for a sudden shower, were we?" His voice was monotonous which was at odds with the humorous thing he'd just said. I silently nodded and began to cross the street to go to the small convenience store right across the way when Jungkook yelled my name and suddenly his big, cold arms were wrapped around me and I was pulled back roughly. I faintly heard a car whiz past me, narrowly missing my backside and Jungkook held onto me. "Are you trying to die?" He asked angrily. I shook my head, still not quite processing what had happened. Neither of us heard the sound of a camera clicking in the distance.
