Chapter 3
I sipped my steaming coffee as I watched the birds flutter about outside my kitchen window. It was only ten in the morning but it seemed much later. I still felt groggy and desperately needed the caffeine to kick in already. The sky was clear and bright blue and the sight of it soothed me. I was always a nature loving person. I heard a faint 'ding' coming from my phone that was still in the living room where I had accidentally fallen asleep the night before. Considering the fact that no one ever really texted me, I was curious as to who it could've been so I sat my mug down on my counter and made my way into the living room to get my phone. My TV was still playing the ridiculous soap opera I had been watching and I realized I had missed a lot in the twenty minutes I'd stood in the kitchen upon retrieving my phone, I looked at the incoming text message.
Unknown: Hey Rosella! Are u free today?
A bit confused, I texted back.
Me: hi, who is this?
Unknown: oh sorry it's Jimin from the coffee shop
Me: oh hi Jimin.☺️ Yes I'm free why do u ask
ChimChim: well I was kinda wondering if u would wanna get lunch with me? 😳
Me: of course! What time?
ChimChim: I can pick u up at 12?
Me: sounds like a plan☺️ my address is xxxx Seoul Avenue
ChimChim: I'll see u then beautiful
Me: I'll see u then :)
My heart did a funny little flutter after my exchange with Jimin. I chalked it up to the fact that he was obviously a very attractive guy and I wasn't used to being asked out.

After having rushed all around my apartment in a panic, I was finally ready to go out with Jimin. It was unusual, the amount of effort I had put into my appearance. Just as I ran my brush through my long, straight hair one more time, I heard the door bell ring out loudly through my home. I squealed a little bit in shock and straightened my cute summer dress that had yellow sunflowers all over the baby blue material. With one quick last glance at myself in the mirror, I nodded, grabbed my purse and ran to open the door. Jimin stood there patiently waiting and when he saw me, a breathtaking smile graced his face. "You look lovely," Jimin said with his eyes squinted into his smile. I grinned back and told him that he looked just as great, which was the absolute truth. He wore a plain white T-shirt with ripped, skinny blue jeans and a blue jean jacket over his T-shirt. His clothes fit him snugly and I could faintly see the outline of his muscular chest. Jimin extended his arm for me to take, and we left my apartment and went on to have lunch.
"We're gonna be walking if you don't mind," Jimin informed me. I smiled and assured him that I didn't mind and Jimin smiled back at me.
"It's not a very long walk, but I figured I'd get even more time to get to know you this way." Jimin's words set my face on fire and all I could awkwardly choke out was, "how sweet of you." My response sounded so sarcastic and snappy that I wanted to slap myself. Jimin's face fell. "Or we can get into my car-" I interrupted him quickly and said, "I really don't mind walking and I really do think it's sweet that you want to get to know me." I smiled warmly at him for extra reassurance and Jimin returned the smile.
"Cool. For a minute there I thought I'd messed up our date before it even began," he mumbled. I smirked at him. "Date, huh?" I asked teasingly. Jimin blushed a bit but still he smirked back at me and said, "Yes, date. You're dressed for one, so how could I waste the opportunity?" It was my turn to blush and I looked down at my outfit. Was I overdressed? I became self conscious and just kept looking toward the ground as we walked down the sidewalk. Suddenly Jimin stopped walking and grabbed my face in his hands.
"You don't have to worry," he said, looking into my eyes. "You look stunning, and I'm proud to be seen with you even if you didn't want to consider this a date, I'd be more than happy to be out with you," he finished. My face was on fire, I just knew it. I bit my lip as I grinned up at Jimin. "You're too cute," I mumbled. Jimin grinned, his eyes squinting.
"You, Rosella, are the cute one," he replied before taking my hand and continuing our walk. By the time we'd reached our destination, I'd found out that Jimin was in a band with the boys who had come to the shop, even Jungkook, he was born in Busan, was very self-conscious, and loved puppies. I thought he was a cute, sweet, and innocent boy. Sometimes though, the sweet innocent act would drop and I'd see a completely different, sexier side of him. His duality was shocking. We found a seat in the cozy restaurant and continued our conversation, Jimin chatting about his band excitedly. He seemed to be really passionate about it, and my curiosity was piqued. I wondered what they sounded like, what kind of music they sang, so I asked him.
"What kind of music does your band play?" Jimin grinned, happy that I was taking an interest. For a minute, he tried to find the words to describe it but in the end just shook his head and said, "instead of telling you, I'd like to show you." I choked a little bit as the waitress came over and took our order. She smiled and walked away, and I looked back at Jimin. "Show me?" I asked. Jimin nodded. "After we finish up here, I have rehearsal with the boys, would you like to join?" He asked. My face heated up. Surely his friends would get the wrong idea if I showed up with Jimin, but did I really mind, if they thought we were dating? After realizing Jimin was still waiting for an answer I smiled and agreed to join them. The waitress brought back our drinks and appetizers and with a happy sigh, I dug in.
