Chapter 11
Jungkook's presence shocked me so much that I just froze in place. He looked like a mess- a very hot mess. His blazer was on the ground next to his feet, his button-up shirt was ruffled, untucked from his dress pants and the first three buttons were undone. Jungkook's tie was loose and crooked, and his hair was disheveled as if he'd been running his hands through it.
"Jungkook," I finally spoke. My words pushed Jungkook into action. He pushed himself off the wall of my home and stalked toward me. He looked so intimidating, walking to me like that. He looked like a predator about to pounce and devour his prey. He stopped when we were just inches away and looked me in the eye.
"Are you okay?" He asked. My jaw dropped and I fought the urge to slap his shoulder.
"You're the one who went missing! Are you okay?" I asked, returning his intense gaze. Jungkook shook his head and said,
"I wasn't missing. I was here the whole time." I bit my lip in embarrassment. If I knew he was looking for me, why wouldn't I have checked my house to see if he'd come there? Jungkook got almost impossibly closer to me.
"Now I'll ask again, are you okay?" He was so close that I was forced to look up to see his face, and his warm breath fanned my face. I gulped visibly and nodded.
"I'm fine. Please don't fire me," I then backed up and bowed to Jungkook, and he erupted into a deep laugh. It was much deeper than it usually was. His attitude was much different. He got closer to me again, closing the gap that I had made when I bowed. He placed a cold hand on my shoulder.
"I was really worried about you. I ran straight out of the office and all the way here. I've waited here for hours, Rose," he said. Our eyes locked and didn't move. I bit my lip and blushed.
"I'm sorry, Jungkook. I just had to leave. Please understand," Jungkook's finger suddenly plucked my lip from between my teeth and lingered.
"I've told you before not to do that, haven't I?" He asked, referring to me biting my lip. I nodded hesitantly and Jungkook smirked.
"How about this, I won't fire you... If you make today up to me," he said. At this point, I thought the heat in my cheeks was permanent. I had never felt any overly romantic feelings for Jungkook. I mean, of course I thought he was attractive, I wasn't blind but I just didn't feel anything toward him in that way which is exactly what I told Jimin when he asked me if I had feelings for Jungkook. But then, why was my heart beating so fast at our close proximity? Why didn't I pull away when he started leaning in? Why was I closing my eyes and leaning in, too? Jungkook's lips had barely ghosted over mine when my brother flung open my front door.
"Rosie, you're home!" He exclaimed. Jungkook and I separated immediately, jumping five feet away from each other. Both of our faces were strawberry red as Link closed the door and approached us. Link had this stupid, arrogant smirk on his face- the bastard knew he'd interrupted something. Link hugged me and asked,
"You okay, sis?" I nodded and pushed him away after giving him a quick squeeze. I was too embarrassed to give him a real hug.
"Did you pick your car up?" I asked. He nodded, and fished my car keys out of his pocket.
"Thanks for lending me yours to go get it. And I'm sorry I didn't answer your call, I was asleep then," Link said sheepishly. Jungkook suddenly cleared his throat.
"Okay, I think I'll be going now, then," he said. His domineering attitude from before was completely gone, replaced with that of an awkward teenage school boy. I almost laughed at his embarrassed state, but I didn't because I was in the same situation. Jungkook turned to leave but I stopped him with a hand on his bicep,
"Wait, let me take you home. You ran here, right? I can't let you walk home." Jungkook shook his head and looked at me.
"I'll be fine," he said but I was adamant. It was late and dark, I wouldn't let him walk home alone.
"Get in my car," I said sternly. Jungkook smirked and raised his hands in defeat as he made his way to my car. Link smirked at me as well and said, "Use protection, sis." My face turned bright red, and I pushed him and quickly ran to my car to escape my stupid brother.
Jungkook and I were silent on the way to his house, the tension was so thick that I could cut it with a knife. The only sound in the car were the faint voices singing on the radio. Suddenly though a song that I recognized came on. I glanced at Jungkook with a wide smirk and turned the radio up loud. Jungkook's own voice blared around us. He looked at me with a small smile and shook his head. I began belting out the lyrics along with the radio, nodding my head along to the beat and eventually Jungkook joined me. We laughed loudly together as we sang along to every song that came on the radio. It was nice seeing him like that, laid-back and happy. It suited him much more than being a stuck up boss man. Even though, he was hot like that. I almost slapped myself at the awkward thought.
Finally we reached Jungkook's shared home, and I saw Jimin and Hoseok's cars parked in the open garage. I vaguely wondered where the other boys were. Jungkook smiled at me kindly.
"Thank you for the ride, Rose," he said. I liked the way he said my name.
"Anytime," I said but then stumbled over my words.
"I mean, not anytime, of course you have your own car, and you don't need me to drive you but like whenever you need help I can help, I mean-" Jungkook laughed and cut me off by placing a sweet kiss on my cheek.
"Goodnight," he said and climbed out of my car. I was too stunned to say anything in response, so I just watched as Jungkook entered his home and then I started my car back up. Today was wild from start to finish.
