3rd Person P.O.V
"You and I,
We're like fireworks and symphonies exploding in the sky.
With you, I'm alive
Like all the missing pieces of my heart, they finally collide."
(Y/n) sighed as she rubbed her head, the headache she fell asleep with only seemed to follow her through to the next day. She sat up from her warm and comforting bed, waiting patiently as the dizzy feeling where blood rushed way to fast to her head consumed her. White and black splotches had clouded her vision as she stumbled around blindly out of her bed, feeling with her feet and hands for the comforting familiarity of her bedroom door.
It had been fifteen years since Hiro had left San Fransokyo. Everyone was proud of him, everyone was happy for him, all the congratulation gifts he was given, all the praise he received, (Y/n) remembered it all as if it were yesterday. It was yesterday. Her brain told her, coaxing her to believe that "Yesterday" hadn't happened 15 years ago and that "yesterday" was still recent.
"So stop time right here in the moonlight,
'Cause I don't ever wanna close my eyes."
(Y/n) knew what she was doing to herself, everyone knew what she was doing to herself, and yet she couldn't stop. It was only yesterday, you don't have to rush the moving on process... it was only yesterday.
She sighed as she tiredly made her way through her empty apartment. "Find someone and settle down." Her mother had said. "It will do you good."
"I can't forget him that easily." (Y/n) had replied, "It was only yesterday."
"Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
I'm just a sad song."
She poured a fresh cup of coffee as she sat at the kitchen counter, it was the weekend, not that she noticed, her body ran it's own clock and seemed to just always know when things were and why they happened, her brain caused her to forget to control herself, she was possessed, possessed by the thought of him.
She knew deep in her heart that "yesterday" was a long time ago. She never listened to the voice that repeated it however, she chose to follow her brain that was fully caffeinated and willing to tell her what ever she wanted.
"With you I fall.
It's like I'm leaving all my past in silhouettes upon the wall.
With you I'm a beautiful mess.
It's like we're standing hand in hand with all our fears upon the edge."
(Y/n) awoke with a start, the evening dull and lifeless, much like the feeling in her heart. Sleep wouldn't cut it, sleep wouldn't fix it, she had just to much energy pent up inside. Half awake and not concentrating at all, she allowed her brain to instruct her feet to move. In the dead of night, as no car passed her by, she made her way to the place she last saw him. "Aunt Cass?" she called as the middle aged woman answered the door.
Aunt Cass expected the girl to have come some time or later, setting up a small table and offering a small pastry, she waited for (Y/n) to initiate the anticipated conversation. "It was only yesterday...he was just here." she sniffed. "I miss him already."
Aunt Cass smiled sadly at the girl, knowing how hard it was to watch the love of her life find love with someone other than herself. She wrapped a reassuring hand around the shoulder of the girl she considered a daughter, before shaking her head. "No (Y/n)...yesterday was 5 years ago." she said.
"No it couldn't have been." (Y/n) shook her head in disbelief.
"So stop time right here in the moonlight,
'Cause I don't ever wanna close my eyes."
"It was just YESTERDAY... we were all here! Hiro and...his wife were here and their kid and Honey Lemon and Wasabi and Fred and GoGo and...you...and Baymax." (Y/n)'s head shook to the point of dizziness. It was yesterday (Y/n) stop being silly!
"Sweat heart..." Aunt Cass went silent as the girl stared blankly at the pastry on her plate. "Just eat this, you'll feel better."
"Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song."
"What are you talking about 'dead' ?! How can she be dead?" Hiro asked, his hand shook as the phone slipped out of his grasp.
"She died honey, over dose on her medication...the funeral is tomorrow if you can make it over here." Aunt Cass's voice was dry and all Hiro could do was stare at the white wall filled with photos of his family and him.
"I'll be there in five...I'm taking the next plane." He decided, after picking up his phone and ending the call. He sighed as he rubbed his teary eyes, turning to face the woman he was married to.
"Is everything alright Hiro?" She asked carefully.
"No uh...a friend of mine just passed away." Taken back, Hiro's entire family gathered around, hugging and comforting him until all the tears he had stored were gone. "I'm leaving for San Fransokyo... I'll be back in a week." he decided, standing up and making his way out the front door.
"You're the perfect melody,
The only harmony
I wanna hear.
You're my favorite part of me,
With you standing next to me,
I've got nothing to fear."
"Honey, you need to go home." Aunt Cass said softly, rubbing her nephew's back. He shook his head.
"Not now Aunt Cass, not while i'm grieving like this, i don't want my kids to worry." he muttered before retiring to his room he had left 20 years ago. Everything was left just the same, untouched apart from the crease left by (Y/n) in his bed. He couldn't believe she was gone.
He only cried harder for his friend when it was revealed that she missed him a lot when he left and fell into a spiral of insanity, believing that time had stopped and "yesterday" was 20 years ago. He just cried harder when he found out that she often spent time alone in his bed all curled up into a defenseless ball.
Hiro wasn't sure if time actually could stand still but it definitely felt that way, he now could feel how his best friend did after so long and he hated himself for doing so, he hated that he left her and didn't bother to contact her afterwards.
"Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song."
"Hiro, they miss you, you need to go home, you haven't seen your family in 2 years." Aunt Cass spoke up. Hiro clenched his fists.
"You're exaggerating." he said in denial.
"Please honey, listen to me, go home." She urged him, "They miss their father... your wife misses her husband, you need to let go and i know that's hard but you must... for her sake." the woman insisted.
"I can't let go so early... i forgot her for so long, I can't forget her now." He defended. "Even if it means descending into madness."
"Hiro... it's been 2 years-"
"I don't believe you." The man said stubbornly, "It can't have been two years since she died." he pulled at his black tufts of hair, gritting his teeth as he squeezed his eyes shut, tears slowly forming and running down his face, only to collect in a puddle at the table he sat at.
"Look at the date." Aunt Cass said softly.
"NO!" Hiro cried, "It... it CAN'T have been 2 years ago... i swear it was just YESTERDAY she-" he broke off into sobs as Aunt Cass's eyes widened, the sensation of deja vu filling her. Hiro's brain buzzed.
Yesterday. It was only yesterday.
"Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
I'm just a sad song."
