Losing Your Sparkle [Pt.4]

The limo drove smoothly down the road before coming to a stop in front of your apartment complex. In the driver seat, Heathcliff spoke over his shoulder, "I took the liberty of cleaning the mess Mr. Sparkles had left behind during the intense fiasco, Miss (L/n)."

Thank goodness. I don't think I would've been able to clean all that confetti that I saw before he shot that cannon at me. "Thank you, Heathcliff."

"You're welcome, Miss (Y/n)."

Once I got out, I noticed everyone following me. "Uh?"

"We have a surprise for you." Honey Lemon links her arms with mine while Gogo takes the lead.

"So. Wash up, get comfy and let us take care of you tonight."

I didn't say anything, but my sheepish smile must've given them confirmation on whatever they were planning. Honestly, I didn't want to get any more surprises for awhile, though I'll let it pass since they were concerned about me. I think.

"A sleepover?" I guess somewhat after seeing their individual bags near the front door.

Wasabi nods, "Exactly. I think we all deserve to relax." He raised a brow at Hiro who rolled his eyes playfully.

I couldn't argue with relaxing. "I agree with that. Has Karmi—"

"—She said something about staying with her parents since they're here in San Fransokyo until tomorrow. So we're in the clear." Gogo nudged me toward my room. "The food will be ready when you're done."

>>>>>>————>>>>>>

Honey claps happily and immediately starts setting up the sleepover potluck. "I'm so glad Heathcliff helped keep our food well heated."

Hiro sat at the dining table and checked his phone to see his Aunt texted him with happiness that Mochi was safe. He smiled warmly at that before texting back a goodnight/I love you reply after giving his own relief response.

"Okay. I see that Karmi has, like, tons of photos of her family on her side of the apartment, buuuuut....(Y/n) has one or two of her and Karmi, plus a cosplay photo strip on the fridge." Fred examines the walls of your apartment. "I'm not saying that it's weird, but she definitely needs more photos." He grins, "I'm printing out a photo of all of us together!!! Maybe a giant painted portrait!"

Hiro looked up at his friend and smiled, "That seems like a great idea. Not a giant portrait, but more photos. I've seen a collage in her room. I'm guessing those are the memorable pictures."

"(Y/n) is reserved sometimes and I respect that." Gogo adds.

Honey hums, "I wonder if she might be adopted. Even so, she has us now!"

"Should someone check up on her? I would think with an injured hand, she could have trouble gripping things-" Wasabi finished as a loud thump came from your room.

"I've got it." Gogo immediately rushed into your room and realized you were still in your bathroom. "Hey! You alright in there?" She asked loudly which in response was a meek apology from you as the shower turned off. "Let me know if you need any help. I'll be waiting out here."

"Thanks."

The female dare-devil sighed and ended walking toward the photo collage that Hiro mentioned. Very memorable pictures which made Gogo smile warmly, especially the ones with Tadashi. "You've always had a knack for helping anyone in need. I'm starting to see it in your little brother everyday."

The air grew silent as Gogo recalled meeting Honey Lemon through Tadashi. She never liked that bubbly girl, but she grew on her. With a forced scoff to push away the sentimental thoughts of their lost friend.

In the corner of her eye, a dark shadow slightly moved on top of the buildings across the street. If it were anyone else, it would've just looked like a random dark spot, but not to Gogo's sight. She narrowed her eyes and opened your balcony door to try and see better.

"I think I need help drying my hair." You say once stepping out with your comfy nights clothes on. "Whacha doin'?" You ask sheepishly.

Gogo takes another look out, not seeing the dark shape anymore. "It's just a good view." She shuts the glass door and locks it before closing the curtains.

You hold up a towel as she pats the spot on your bed as she takes a seat behind you.

Swiftly, Gogo dries your hair with the towel and snatches your brush from your bathroom before brushing out your hair. "Don't tell anyone about this." She began braiding your hair no matter if it was short or long.

"Promise." You salute and grimace at your injured hand.

"Good." She pats the top of your head. "I bet you're hungry, so get a move on and let's have Baymax bandage your hand again."

>>>>>>————>>>>>>

"Oh boy."

I take a glance at Wasabi and Honey Lemon as they smile happily as they gesture toward the young Hamada outside on the living room balcony. "Baymax specifically said, Hiro needed some practice with minor medical assistance, sooo—.." Wasabi started then Honey gently pushed me forward, "—So! Hiro will help with your injured hand."

Slowly, I step outside and take a seat across from Hiro where he recites all the stuff for patching me up.

"Okay! I can do this. Now....what did Baymax say again?" Hiro panics.

I bit my lip and I couldn't help but snicker out a laugh. "Apply a thin layer of the petroleum jelly then lightly wrap gauze around my hand. That's all, you Knucklehead."

"That sounds more simple than Baymax's long explanation." Hiro laughs lightly and clears his throat before taking my injured hand very gently.

Dear sweet heaven....I feel my face flush and I turn my head away to the side. Why did those guys have Hiro bandage my hand? Unless...

Honey Lemon squeals but not too loudly, though enough that I could catch it.

"Sorry if it might hurt." Hiro squeaks out.

I glance at him and nearly blush more at his flushed face. I think I spaced out because Hiro grins in satisfaction at his finished work.

"There. Now, let me see your other hand."

"Huh?" I raise a brow at him. "My other hand is fine, Hiro."

His face grows more red and he huffs. "I-I know, just...." He grabs my other hand and places a neatly tied pouch upon my palm. Immediately, holds my hand and bows his head. "I'm sorry!"

What? I stare at him confused. I think he's not good at apologizing, especially the way he's struggling to talk. "What are you—"

"I'm sorry for not checking up on you after that night I dropped you off. I'm....I'm not good at apologizing and I'm still struggling to work on how to be there for a friend." That's when Hiro couldn't stop talking. "I was worried about you and I wanted to call and message you, but I was afraid you didn't want to talk. Then after Mochi went missing AND YOU. I couldn't think straight. I-I mean, WE were all worried about you."

I laugh slightly and sniff. "If you weren't holding my good hand, then I would've bopped you on your head by now."

Hiro let's go of my hand as I get to walk over to lean on the wall of the balcony.

"I should be the one apologizing. I didn't mean to make you so stressed out because I couldn't give you a reply after that night." I huff as my eyes tear up. "I didn't know what to do either and I just assumed you didn't want to be my friend anymore. That just made me more miserable."

A tissue is held out in front of me and I take it.

Hiro leans beside me and we stare out at the small grass area of the apartment complex. It had gotten quiet, other than the noises of the others inside and a couple of vehicles passing by.

My gaze went to the small pouch which the print of the cloth is my favorite design. It calmed me a little.

"I don't know what that nightmare was about, but I can tell it had something with what, I'm guessing, is what Tadashi said to you in the dream?"

I grimace as my injured hand subconsciously squeezed. I still haven't told Hiro what my nightmare was about......but I don't want him to lea-

"I don't want him to leave."

I froze at Hiro's sad reponse and I looked at him.

He exhales deeply, "My nightmares." He glances at me before staring at the grass landscape again. "Tadashi is always turning to leave and I try to go for him..."

"....But you can't move...." I say.

He nods. "He keeps saying he doesn't want to be here anymore. That I don't need him anymore...."

"I'm just holding you back..." We said at the same time and we grew silent again.

Hiro finally straightened his posture and placed a hand on my head with a soft smile. "If you ever need to talk about Tadashi. Even a nightmare, let me know. I'm literally a phone call away." His hands go back into the pockets of his hoodie. "The answer to your question.... is that Tadashi was never that type of person to receive anything in return when he helps out." He snickered as if recalling a moment. "Tadashi was down with you, whether you are right or wrong, BUT he will tell you when you are wrong and help you get it right."

The gentle gaze he gave toward me made me feel...happy. The truth in those words was the very definition of Tadashi.

"To put it simply, he may have not wanted anything in return, but he had always hoped for all of us to use our skills to help make a some sort of positive difference in the world." Hiro takes a glance back at the patio doors and holds back a laugh.

I look to see Baymax standing on the other side and he holds up a hand in a silent hello.

We both giggle at the silly and adorable action.

The small pouch caught my attention again and I opened it a little to peek inside. A vanilla-scented aroma waffled through my nose. Cookies?

"I- Uh...Hey! Maybe save those for later—" Hiro laughs awkwardly and tries to take the pouch from me, but I turn away.

I pull out a warm colored cookie and two candy dots for...eyes? "Is this a cat?" Within the bag, I see other cookies that are oddly shaped though maybe animal shaped heads? "Bear, rabbit, a...star..." I laughed as Hiro's face flushed a bright red.

"I had a lot on my mind! I wanted to make sure it was perfect, but." He huffed. "I tried."

I pat his head, "I didn't say anything bad about them. It's actually really awesome you made these for me." I pop one cookie into my mouth and hum in delight. "And they're perfectly baked." I dramatically hold the pouch up to the sky. "EVERYONE MUST HAVE A PIECE OF YOUR MASTERPIECE!!! Hey you guys!!!"

Hiro screeches like a girl and runs behind me, "(Y/n), no!"

"Try the cookies that Hiro baked for me! Wasabi!!! Go long!" I tossed the pouch before Hiro grabbed it from over my shoulders.

Wasabi screamed and juggled the small bag, only for it to be caught by Fred.

"Got it!" Fred grins while holding up the bag from Hiro and takes out one cookie. "Ooo! Is this some kind of dinosaur or woodland monster? Gogo, go for it!" He tossed the bag to Gogo.

Hiro tried to catch it mid air, but couldn't reach as Gogo quickly snatched the pouch. She took a cookie and handed another one to Honey Lemon. "Gotta be quicker on your feet, Genius." She slightly smirks at peeved Hamada.

I finally have the pouch and offer a cookie to Wasabi.

"These are WAY out of proportion, but....Just this once. I will deal with it." Wasabi declares.

They eat their piece with different positive reactions. Each, causing Hiro to shyly hide within his hood.

"MMM! Ita delectamentum~." Honey Lemon praised.

Though Fred's reaction was too over the top, hence the moaning in delight. Gogo shrugs, "It's better that the store bought stuff." Wasabi agreed.

"Seriously. Those cookies are totally not THAT good." Hiro mumbled.

I tsk and pull Hiro into a side hug, "Just accept that all of us love your terrible creation."

"Terrible?!" Hiro's voice squeaks.

Gogo hugs his other side and ruffles his hair, "You do know (Y/n) is joking, Small Fry." She glanced up at Honey Lemon who wraps her arms around Hiro's head.

"Very true! It was very sweet!"

"Freddie highly agrees with everyone. Now, GROUP HUG! Get in here, Wasabi!" Fred yanks Wasabi into a huge hug.

I grin at all of them and mentally sigh in happiness, especially when Baymax completed the group hug. The moment felt like a puzzle with the borderline finished, but.....it felt odd, in a way. The pieces were all still scattered and needed to be placed inward.

A hand grabbed mine.

Hiro stared at me with understanding and he gently squeezed my hand to silently say that "it's okay." and that "we've still got a lot to work on."

I nod faintly, then rush out of the hug. "Children get served first!" I take a hurried step to the kitchen, only for Gogo to beat me to the plates. "Hey!"

"Early bird gets the worm." She stated in a matter of fact tone.

Wasabi spoke up confused, "Would it be the elderly who get served first?"

Gogo raised a brow and gestured to him to go first. "Be my guest, Grandpa."

Hiro and I laughed as Wasabi waved his hands frantically. "I'm not saying that I'm old!!"

"Who cares!? Let's eat!" Fred immediately grabs a plate.

There is never a dull moment when we're together. It's a big change from just me and Karmi, although, it would've been better if.....My thoughts start a buzzing mess and I sit up with a heavy sigh.

After I had finished my fill of food and finished watching a movie. We had the guys sleep in the living room while Gogo and Honey slept in my room. I get up, pretending to head to the bathroom, but I go out to the main room.

The boys are snoring. Mainly Fred and Hiro with drooling faces. I shake my head with a chuckle, taking my gaze toward a charging Baymax. Of course, that brought me back to why I needed to take a walk.

>>>>>———>>>>>

Luckily, the tiny convenience store around the block was open 24/7. The bell rang as I stepped out with a small box of pocky.

Tadashi used to hate it when I went out like this. Something about curfew? Stranger danger? I don't know. I would space out when he would lecture over something so small.

My feet took one step at a time and I stared at my shoes in thought as I nibbled on the sweet biscuit stick.

What if he was still here? Could it be possible? Would there be a way? If it made them happy....if it would make Hiro happy, it couldn't be bad, right?—

"Hmph!!" I bump into someone and sheepishly walk around the pedestrian. "I'm sorry! Sorry!" Wait! My pocky! Shoot, I dropped it. I turn around only to watch the man pick up the Pocky Box.

"I'm not surprised these are still around. Quite the tasty treat." His pale hand holds the box out to me.

Maybe Tadashi was right about the stranger danger.

I swiftly turn away to leave, but the man is quick to block my path and the box is held out to me again. I glare up at him and yank the box away. "Can I help you?" I snip.

Hold on.....

My eyes widen and I gulp, realizing who is standing in front of me.

"Yes~." He draws out with glee. "I believe you can."
