ABE HAS ALWAYS been smart, more than she's given credit for. Wether its her fast thinking mind or her unbelievable talent to paying attention to the details, she always seems to be one step ahead. So when her and her brother are the two of five people to be rescued from Group C and put into a facility it was no surprise that she didn't trust anyone there. Maybe it was the fact that they were so vague or maybe it was the fact that their words were earily similar to the lady in the white coat's words from her dreams.

Abe's worst fear that there's something terrible going on in the facility rings true when she wakes up one day and her brother is no where to be found. Their twin telepathy connection they once had now severed, leaving Abe with a large burning hole in her heart. A hole praying for answers and more importantly, revenge.

The young girl's prayers are soon answered in the forms of a freckled face boy with a knack for asking questions and a pale boy with blue eyes brimming with far too much knowledge for his own good. Together the three teens unite and break out their groups from the facility and venture into an unknown land: The Scorch.
