*Jasper's Pov*

We both left the attic in search of the six tapes that Dad left behind. I was still curious to know what was on those tapes.

Like Ruby had claimed, maybe it could give us some info about Mr. Hopp...or maybe Nana Esther...

Only one way to find out...

First, we needed to find the first tape...

Mr. Hopp: *Growling*....

If only we find a way to get past Tall, Dark, And Terrible.

In order to escape him, We must either outrun him to another room, or hide when he approaches. The living room is the most open area in the house....Mr. Hopp has the highest chance of catching either one or both of us there.

Like earlier, we quickly jumped over a few of Ruby's toys and hid whenever Mr. Hopp heard our footsteps which was pretty hard to do considering the only places to hide were the two couches.

Why did our living room had to be so long and somewhat empty...?

After a while of playing hide and seek, as instructed to do. Me and Ruby found the first tape upstairs, to the mirror next to our parents' bedroom.

Ruby placed the tape inside as I turned on the recording.

Tape (1/6)

"September 8th - Jenna, Jasper, Ruby and I went to see Esther yesterday. Jasper and Ruby always loves seeing Their grandmother...Nana they call her...she's...not been doing so well in recent months, we went round the other weekend and she was just staring at the wall, we had to really shake her to snap her out of it and then she was just fine like nothing had happened, God knows how long she'd been doing that for...we've booked her in for a doctor's appointment. I'm supposed to be recording ideas for a new novel."

The recording ends after that...

Ruby: Nana...

Me:....

That's right...Before her passing, Nana Esther was acting strange lately. She went from that loving grandmother to whole different person. I always heard her mumbling and fumbling for some reason. I couldn't decipher what she was trying to say as she kept muttering things no couldn't understand...

DO YOU UNDERSTAND NANA ESTHER???

....

Ruby: Let's find the rest of those tapes.

Me: Right...

Me and Ruby went back downstairs and we both saw Mr. Hopp again...However...He looks different now...his eyes become blackened pits, and now has a new posture. He wasn't even smiling anymore.

In fact, it looked like he was suffering...

WTF?

Ruby:....

Me: Let's Go...He's still dangerous, remember.

Ruby nodded as we went for the next tape which is at far end of left side of the upper hallway.

Ruby grabbed the tape and put it inside the recorder as I turned it on.

Tape (2/6)

"September 14th - Jenna and I stopped to see Esther again today...the place was filthy...I'm not sure how it would have gotten so bad so quickly. Esther doesn't seem to be keeping herself clean either and it's almost like she didn't recognize us. Her appointment is tomorrow...Jenna is worried she might have to go into care. I'll keep this documented...I hope Jasper and Ruby doesn't have to see her like this."

The recording ended leaving us in silence...

Ruby: Nana...

Nana Esther's unknown illness was getting worse. Despite our protests, Dad had prevented  us from visiting her anymore. He said it was "Until she gets better". It made me wonder what was going on with Nana Esther. What was happening to her.

I had questions. Concerns. I was even scared for her. I once disobeyed my parents to try and visit her but to no avail. I made a surprise visit to her but....she didn't recognize me. She just stared at me blankly before freaking out and yelling.

My father stormed in and pulled me out of there. He scowled me after that but I barely heard him. All I could do was just stare in fright of what become of Nana Esther.

...

Both me and Ruby begin looking for the next tape.

*CRUSH*

Me: ?!!

To our shock and dismay, Mr. Hopp's long furry arm punched a hole through the wall while making the same growling noises while trying to grab us. We both were frozen in place.

Me:....(He's must getting impatient while looking for us....)

Ruby:....

After that, his long arm mysteriously vanished and everything was stuck back into silence.

We both narrowly avoided the hole just in case Mr. Hopp tried to pull another stunt like that again.

...

It didn't take us long to find the third tape.

Tape (3/6)

"September 15th - As of recording this, Esther is in hospital. Her neighbors called the police in the early hours of the morning because they could hear her screaming. She will be there for a few days...we've told Jasper and Ruby that she had a fall and that she's okay. Jasper was getting a little impatient again wanting to know if she's really okay. We're waiting on a diagnosis."

The recording ended after that...

That day I heard Nana Esther had a fall. I was so worried. But I get the feeling her falling wasn't the cause of her screaming. It was probably something else...

My thoughts turned to that damn rabbit.

Nana Esther and Mr. Hopp have some connection...

So...I'm going to find out what it is...

Me: Come on Ruby....let's find the other three tapes...
