A Frosty Slumber (S)
TW: Fluffy
A thin coat of snow lay waiting on the soft ground upon the morning light. The sun raising behind thick white clouds full of snowflakes that were gently falling atop of the frosted trees and clearing.
Wishful blue eyes blinked awake, mind dizzy from the coldness of the dawning day. His first thought was of the chestnut haired boy sleeping just a few painful feet away.
He turned on to his other side and raised a sleepy eyebrow at the tossing and turning boy to his left. The sleep had cleared from his brain and he slowly rose, pulling the cover up around him.
He glanced down to the floor of the tent and sighed at seeing snow. "But, it's spring!" Martyn muttered to himself, watching the cold air under his breath.
His eyes darted to where a boy was sleeping, his covers pulled up all the way around him, but still was shaking as a breeze blew through the green tent. Carefully, Martyn sat up, pulling the covers back and putting his bare feet on to the snow-painted floor. "Toby?" He whispered, raising an eyebrow as he slowly got to his feet, not bothering with shoes.
"Toby? Are you awake?" Martyn asks again, coming closer to the bed, he gingerly rested a hand on Toby's side but still got nothing.
Martyn let out a half-hearted sigh as he carefully sat down on Toby's bed, brushing the dark chestnut locks away from his closed eyes. Martyn smirked as he watched Toby smile in his sleep before a shiver ran through the younger boy's body. Martyn pulled his hand away and shook his head. That wouldn't do at all.
Martyn carefully picked up the red covers and pillow from his bed, he placed the covers over Toby and the pillow next to his head. Martyn smiled as he watched the younger boy hold his pillow tightly, flopping over to hold it to his chest. A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he saw Toby's mouth twist into a smile. "Oh, Toby."
Turning his mind away from Toby for a minute, Martyn poked his head outside the tent, sighing as he watched the snow fall down from the cloudy sky. They wouldn't get any work done today, it would be too cold anyway.
He heard a soft kind of yelp come from behind him and Martyn turned to see Toby hugging his pillow closer to him than before, but not because of being cold. By the sound of it, Toby was having a bad-dream, a nightmare.
Carefully, Martyn walked back over to Toby's bed and sat down atop the covers, placing a hand over Toby's head as he yelped and made small noises again. "Hey, hey, Toby, it's alright, you're OK." He said, leaning down to hug the younger boy in his arms above the thick covers.
He held in a sigh as Toby jumped a bit, letting out one more painfully aching squeak. "Toby, shh... you're alright." Martyn said, gently rubbing Toby's back.
"M-Martyn..." Toby whimpered, still asleep. Martyn quietly sighed and this time knew what he had to do.
Carefully Martyn pulled back the two covers and slid into the blankets, pulling the younger male into his arms. "I'm here Toby, it's alright." He whispered, gingerly kissing his cheek once. "Everything's alright, I'm here, you're here, everything is fine..."
Toby weakly opened his eyes, still half-asleep. "Y-you left m-me, just alone, you didn't say w-why, you just... left..." He whispered, looking at Martyn with sad and sleepy eyes.
Martyn sighed and gently rubbed his back, closing his eyes in doing so. "I haven't left, I'm still here, just go back to sleep, I'm not leaving you."
