Song: For The Widows In Paradise by Sufjan Stevens

Smith was sitting in the practice room, and for the second time that week he was the last to leave, he enjoyed being able to practice without the rest of the group screaming all the time. Sighing, he got up and silently padded over to the array of guitars and picked up his secret favourite, and sat back down next to the piano. The rest of his ragtag band had scampered off to their respective homes after practice earlier today, so Smiffy would be able to finish off the song he was learning in peace. Doing a few vocal exercises and strumming the starting chord, Smiffy started to play the cover of For The Widows In Paradise.

"I have called you children, I have called you son

What is there to answer if I'm the only one?

Morning comes in Paradise, morning comes in light

Still I must obey, still I must invite

If there's anything to say, if there's anything to do

If there's any other way, I'll do anything for-" Suddenly the eerie silence that Smiffy filled with his voice was back, and he realised that Nano had been standing in the door for most of his singing. "Uh, hi Nano..." Smith began. "Hey Smith, I realised I left my coat here when I got home, I didn't know that you were still here. I also didn't know that you were learning that song! Why didn't you tell me, Ross and Trott, we could of practiced it together you scrub!" Nano stared accusingly into Smith's blue eyes, to him it felt like she was bordering into his soul. "Sorry, I wanted it to be a surprise. I guess I should of practiced it with you lot first." Nano smiled and sat on a stool near the door. "Well, keep going then. Don't let me stop you!" she exclaimed. "B-but I might mess it up now you're here! I was doing fine before you showed up!" Smith groaned, but deep in his mind he was happy that they were finally getting some time alone without Ross' watching eyes or Trott's knowing smirks. Taking a deep breath, Smiffy began where he left off. "I was dressed embarrassment

I was dressed in wine

If you had a part of me, will you take your time?" Nano closed her eyes and listened to the lyrics, imagining that Smith was singing to her and only her. Then she realised that of course Smiffy wouldn't feel the same way, they were just band mates, nothing more.

"Even if I come back, even if I die

Is there some idea to replace my life?

Like a father to impress

Like a mother's mourning dress

If you ever make a mess, I'll do anything for you" Smith was watching Nano as she listened, wishing that she would realise his feelings without him telling her, and that she felt the same way. But he knew that his wishes couldn't come true, they were just fellow band mates, but a man can dream.

"I have called you preacher, I have called you son

If you have a father or if you haven't one

I'll do anything for you, I'll do anything for you" Nano opened her brown eyes and met Smiffy's blue ones. Smith looked at the floor, his face flushed red. "I'll do anything for you, I'll do anything for you" At this point Nano joined in, her voice mingling with Smiffy's and creating a sweet melody that would be enough to awe any crowd.

"I did everything for you, I did everything for you

I did everything for you, I did everything for you

I did everything for you, I did everything for you

I did everything for you, I did everything for you" They finished off in a crescendo, gazing into each other's eyes. "Um..." Smith cleared his throat. "So all in all, I think we did pretty good! I found this song on YouTube and I thought it would be good to sing, you know? So I practiced it and I think I just about got all the chords ri-" Smith stopped talking, he registered Nano's lips on his and he didn't know what to think. After a moment of shock, he responded back, kissing her with a great amount of passion, which was gladly returned. Reluctantly, Nano pulled away, and smirked. "Glad I finally got you to shut up." Smiffy's mind was reeling. Did Nano actually feel the same way? Or was she just shutting his rambling up? "I didn't do that just to get you to shut your mouth, by the way." Nano added, as if she could read his mind. "Wait, so do you like me or what...?" Smith questioned, after all, Nano could just be pranking him. "Did the boys put you up to this? They did didn't they?Oh I swear to god I am going to-" Nano silenced his death threats once again, and moved away before saying "No, if anything, I put myself up to this." Smith knew he must be dreaming, and he turned to look out the window. The sky was beginning to darken, and behind the wispy silver clouds a crescent moon sat. The view looked pretty real, but just to be sure he pinched his arm. "Ow!" he whispered, hoping Nano didn't notice, she looked pretty spaced out, so if she heard him, she didn't react. "It's getting pretty late, I need to get home soon, Lom will be wondering where I am." Nano said, standing up and putting her coat on. "Yeah, me too, the lads are probably worrying their asses off. I could walk you home if you'd like?" Smith offered. Nano regarded Smiffy, thinking how adorable he looked, scratching his neck awkwardly, looking everywhere but her. "Sure, I'd need a big strong man to walk with me, especially when it's this dark out." Nano winked. Smith blushed an even darker red than before, and hurried to hide his face as he put his coat on and placed his beloved guitar down where he picked it up earlier. "Uh, are you ready to go?" Smith questioned, his face slowly returning to its normal shade. "Yeah, come on then." Nano said as she walked out of the door, waiting until Smiffy followed her into the hall so she could lock the practice room.

They arrived at Nano's ten minutes later, nearly soaked to the bone with the rain that had started halfway along their walk. Their conversation was filled with cheesy pickup lines, and jokes about where their next gig could be. By now the sky had turned pitch black, and the clouds had covered the moon, so the only light available was the soft yellow glow coming from the oil street lamps that adorned the street. "Nice street you live on here, you and Lomadia just moved in didn't you?" Smith asked, admired the retro lighting.

"Yeah, we figured it would be a good location for both of us, since for her it's close to Lewis, and for me it's close to the music plaza, plus the decor looks pretty sweet." answered Nano, her dark brown hair absorbing the golden glow that was bathing them as they stood under one of the lamps outside the apartment block.

"Normally, I would invite you inside to dry off, but Lom would probably go mad since we haven't even finish furnishing the place, and she would feel like a bad host..." Nano excused, it wasn't just that though, Nano just wasn't sure what she'd do if she finally got Smiffy alone with a bed in the vicinity.

"Yeah I understand, probably for the best too, since I'd probably end up getting stuck at your flat, what with all these storms on the way." Smith didn't mention how he'd love to stay at Nano's apartment overnight, and how he thought it was anything but for the best. "Anyway, see you on Monday, yeah?" Smith finished, and leaned in for a hug. Nano, however, had other ideas, and she turned her head at the last second and firmly planted her lips on Smiffy's. He smiled into the kiss, this was exactly what he'd hoped would happen. A small gasp was heard from the direction of the building door, and as the couple moved reluctantly away from each other, Nano smiled sheepishly at Lomadia, who was standing under the open doorway, half way through opening her umbrella. "You silly sods!" Lom raged in disbelief, "you're both soaked from head to toe, it's -3 degrees and here you are, snogging in the rain!" Nano giggled at Lomadia's wording, while Smiffy chuckled awkwardly and moved back slightly, worried about the crazy blond with the owl hat on. "Come on Nano, in you get."

Lomadia ushered her in, and waved to Smith as he walked down the pavement, smiling to himself as he went. "Oh, look at you, come on, I'll make us a hot chocolate, you go dry off, and then you can explain to me what on earth you were doing snogging Smiffy." Lom said, and Nano smiled and said teasingly

"If I told you the whole story, we'd be here forever. I'll start from the beggining, I left my coat at the Practice room, so I went back to get it..."
