TW: Another Drabble :)
It wasn't Lalna's fault he was stuck in a dirt house with Sjin. It was Honeydew's. He was the one going off ordering Lalna to find cows and made him take Sjin along for some inane reason. And it certainly wasn't Lalna's fault that Sjin barely helped when looking for the cows. And-
"What are you moping about over there?"
Lalna lifted his head from the dirt wall. "Oh, nothing. I just wish I wasn't stuck out here with you."
Sjin raised an eyebrow. "Is that how you normally thank people for building you a place to sleep?"
"You mean a hollow dirt cube? Yeah, I'm used to sleeping in houses that aren't of the same material of giant legless cows." Lalna brushed the dirt out of his hair.
"Gee, sorry, Princess." Sjin turned his attention back to the flint-and-steel in his hand, and the log on the floor.
Lalna watched him attempt to light the logs for a few minutes. He sighed, got up and stepped over to Sjin.
"Here, let me..." He clicked the flint and steel together a few times, sparking it easily. The sparks flew onto the log and kindling, setting them aflame. Sjin pushed the rocks around the fire closer together with his foot, then stepped back.
"Oh... thanks." Sjin muttered. Lalna didn't respond, he just handed the flint-and-steel back.
The two sat on opposite sides of the hut, listening to the sounds of monsters outside. The fire roared in between them. Sjin glanced at Lalna, then averted his eyes. He finally spoke.
"Lalna?"
"What."
"Why do you hate me?"
Lalna jerked his head up. Narrowing his eyes, he eyed Sjin. "What, you don't remember what happened on the old world?"
Sjin cast his eyes down. "I know, but I mean... we're all working together now. I wouldn't think you would be so unforgiving about all of this. Heck, you did just as much damage as me..."
Lalna scoffed and didn't respond. Sjin got up and walked over to the scientist, sitting down next to him.
"You sure that's all? Have I done anything else? Because I'd really just like to be friends with you now, since we're working at Honeydew Inc. and all..."
"You want me to like you? You could stop bugging me." Lalna shot back.
"Please. Just give me a chance here, buddy!"
"Why do you even care? It's not like we were ever really close." Lalna turned his head as he said this, only now realizing how close next to him Sjin had sat.
"I just... I mean, you're a good guy and it just... I don't like it when people hate me, I mean who would, and I just really respect you, and I'd just really like it if we were pals, and-"
"Drop it."
"Please, Lalna, I just-"
"No."
"I'm trying to be nice, Lalna! Why do you have to be such a dick?" Sjin growled. "I'm gonna keep bothering you until you decide to-"
Lalna snapped. "FINE! You want me to be fuckin' nice?!" Lalna grabbed Sjin, pulling him closer. "I'll show you nice!" He grabbed the back of Sjin's head, squeezing as he mashed their lips together. Sjin gasped. After a moment, Lalna pulled back, breathing heavily.
"Happy now?!"
Sjin stuttered, finally managing to get words out. "Y-ye-yeah, I... yeah, sure, I um... yeah... sure. Sure."
Lalna leaned back against the wall, face red as he drifted off to sleep. He'd face the consequences of that in the morning.
Sjin mumbled, "Bet I could do better, though."
Lalna groaned. He prayed for cows when the sun rose.
