TW: None, kid!verse

Lalna was bored. B-o-r-e-d spells bored. He didn't understand why his parents thought that dragging him away from his super cool scientist kit to look at boring houses.

He didn't really understand why they had to move, either. Their house was just fine, and he had just hung up all his cool posters, and if they were moving he'd have to clean his room. Gross.

But no, his parents weren't listening to his complaints at all, too busy looking around the neighborhood and commenting on school zones- as if he needed school, he was plenty smart and could teach himself, duh. He even said that to them, and they ignored it, rude.

He squirms, looking around to see if there were any kids around- if they have to move here then there better be cool new people to help him in-in-investigate science, unlike the other kids in the neighborhood- and that's when he sees her. She teeny tiny, with black hair and- wicked purple eyes, but when he tries to edge away from his parents his super uncoolmum picks him up, still holding his dad's hand to take them inside to look.

When Lalna worms around to look at where he first saw the girl, she was gone, and he pouts, at least until his dad sees his face, and loudly comments, "would you look at that yard, Xeph'- with a yard that big we could get a dog- for Lalna, of course."

Lalna nearly squeaks, squirming to get out of his mum's arms, and Xephos lets him down with a fond smile as he hurries to run at his awesome dad, who hugs him with a laugh, and his mom can't help but laugh with him.

"Right, of course, the dog will be for Lalna. This definitely isn't about you wanting a corgi, Honeydew," he teases, making Lalna's dad laugh even louder as he sets Lalna down in exchange for tugging mom into a kiss- gross.

"Well, corgis are excellent dogs, and they're not too big for Lalna and I- so it's not a selfish decision-"

Lalna tunes him out in exchange for getting on his tip toes to look out the window, spotting a few kids playing in their front yards, including the cool kid with purple eyes- maybe moving wouldn't be too bad, so long as he does get the dog, and the other kids like Science, he decides.
