Wolf 7

- DO KYUNGSOO -

I was hoping for a normal, problem-and-murder-free day. However, the word 'normal' had suddenly posted a giant 'X' over it the moment I took sight of the school gates. Kim Jongin isn't there, which is basically categorized as 'not normal'.

Park Chanyeol and Byun Baekhyun are there, though, together with their other friends I don't really know because I don't have classes with them. I pedaled past them and to the bicycle parking. When I took another glance at their group, i suddenly noticed that there's something wrong.

Baekhyun is pinned between the gate and Chanyeol's back, as if he's protecting him from their other friends. Their frowns seem too deep and they talk through gritted teeth. Without warning, Chanyeol grabbed Baekhyun's hand and they walked fast out of the spot and to the English building for their class. The tallest stranger sneered when Chanyeol intentionally bumped him on the shoulder.

What is happening?

"It's him." I heard a muffled voice just behind me and I turned to see a group of teenage girls, eyeing me from head to toe. They started to lean towards each other, murmuring words I can't hear nor understand. I frowned at them then continued on my way.

The English building is now free from police lines and signs. I didn't spot any more investigator or guards who are lurking behind, trying to find some probable suspect. Until now, I still wonder who killed Yoon Hanjeon. Seems like he angered the murderer in a way that he could be tortured like that.

Another thing i noticed are the looks people are giving me. A guy i don't know stopped right in front of me and spat on the ground beside my foot making me gasp, and then he continued on his way like I wasn't there at all. The others threw me hateful glances, stomping on their ways when they see me approach.

I'm starting to go mad from thinking what's happening. I'm pretty sure i didn't do anything wrong that could make the whole student body loath me. I was about to check my locker when I just decided not to. I don't want to find any insults written there.

I stopped by the Rendezvous office, hoping to see Victoria and maybe have a little talk with her. But I didn't see her there. When I opened the office door, what I saw is a wide meeting table, scattered chairs, and a couple making out in a corner.

They stopped mid-kissing when they heard the door creak open. I froze when they turned to look at me in unison.

It's Chanyeol and Baekhyun.

"I-i'm sorry." I stammered, turning to leave. I can already feel my face heating up. "I-i didn't mean to interrupt. U-uhm. Please g-go on. I'll go a--"

Baekhyun grinned, wiping his lower lip. "Do Kyungsoo, right?"

I swallowed and nodded slowly. Chanyeol smiled and went to sit on the table and Baekhyun pulled a chair for himself. They both look beautiful, with their unusual colored hair and flawless skin. Chanyeol's hair is still dyed ash grey and his eyes are jet black like his clothes. And Baekhyun, well, he would always look gorgeous in white clothes and blonde hair.

No one would doubt them as a couple. They're perfect for each other. And as always, they're both wearing black leather straps around their necks each with a silver pendant and a ring.

"You're looking for Victoria, I suppose?" Baekhyun continued, eyeing me with his brown orbs so piercingly. "She mentioned an addition to the team last week."

I finally let go of the door handle, letting it close behind me. I stood there awkwardly in front of them and they continued to study my face. I suddenly feel self-conscious in front of two good looking males.

"I was sending poems." I explained. "And she decided to take me in."

"Yes." Chanyeol nodded, still smiling. "I was able to read your poems, too. They're great. Mysterious and creepy." then his smile turned to something like a smirk. Like he knows something I don't. It's unnerving.

Baekhyun stood from his chair and walked gracefully towards me. Up close, i can see his silver pendant: an eight pointed star with diamonds embedded on each outstretched ray. "Byun Baekhyun," he introduced himself, holding out his hand. "I work on short fictions. And that's my fiance Park Chanyeol," he gestured to behind him. "He's just dropping by."

I nodded as i shook his hand. His skin feels hot. Abnormally hot and I pulled back immediately, quite taken aback. Baekhyun's features stiffened.

I tried to cover the sudden awkwardness. "W-where's Victoria?" I asked, looking around. The office is empty aside from them. Shelves and cabinets line the left and right walls, the rear wall is covered with cork boards filled with sticky notes and reminders. There are few tables meant for editors and a wide one for meetings.

Chanyeol shrugged, sliding off the table. "She left a while ago but she'll be back, i think." he pulled a chair behind Baekhyun's table and started scribbling something on an empty piece of paper.

Baekhyun's smile returned. "Do you want me to show you your place?" he gestured to the other empty tables. Some of them are clearly occupied, with bundles of paper, frames and pen holders placed on top. There are vacant ones, too.

I was about to agree when I remembered what they were doing just before I walked in. Seems like I just became a stupid cockblocker who doesn't know what he's doing.

"I can return when she's back." I said, shaking my head. "Y-you can... continue..."

Baekhyun laughed. "Oh, we could do it even when you're just sitting there in front of us." he grinned, but i get the feeling he's not kidding. And that made me even more embarrassed.

I swallowed nervously. "Are you sure?" I asked just to be sure.

"Of course, I'm sure!" Baekhyun exclaimed. He walked towards a vacant spot, table and comfy chair. He placed his hand on the backrest. "This would be your place. Do whatever you want. Drop by during your free time. It's your office now so feel at home."

I wasn't sure with the last thing he said because I never felt at home in anywhere but our cottage and Grandmother's. I proceeded to my place, still nervous and awkward as i was before. I could feel Chanyeol and Baekhyun's stares.

I turned to look at Baekhyun. "Why aren't you bitching on me?" I blurted out before i could even think about asking.

My question clearly surprised him because he stared at me for a while before a small smile spread on his face. "Why would we bitch on you?" he asked, raising a brow.

"Everyone does." I answered fast, embarrassed. "What's happening? Am I missing something?"

Baekhyun shrugged and walked towards his spot, two tables from mine. "What did they tell you?" he asked as he sat on Chanyeol's lap. They obviously do the PDA anywhere and they obviously don't care.

"Nothing." I answered. "But someone almost spat on my face just minutes ago."

"You see," Chanyeol started as he wrap his arm around Baekhyun's waist. "Hanjeon's killer is still unknown. And people are making assumptions here."

I stared at them, waiting for Chanyeol to continue.

Baekhyun shrugged, raising his brow. And that's when it hit me.

"They think I killed him?!" I gasped, pointing a finger to myself.

Chanyeol shrugged. "That's what the rumors say. Yes."

I was suddenly out of words. How could i possibly kill Yoon Hanjeon? I don't hate him that much and I am not a murderer. I can't believe people would even have the thought of me, out of all people, killing someone almost twice my own size. Hanjeon may be evil but I could never ever harm him.

"They said it's black magic." Baekhyun explained, eyeing me seriously. "They said you talked your Grandmother to it."

I could almost feel myself tearing up. "I-i can't..." I gasped, breathing hard. My heart suddenly feel like a bomb about to burst. My face started to go numb from disbelief and i just want to break down right now.

"Relax, Kyungsoo." Chanyeol said. "It's just a rumor."

I looked at him. "But they think my Grandmother's a killer witch!" I exclaimed, my eyes wide and unbelieving. "She could never kill someone! She's innocent!"

"Chill, okay?" Baekhyun told me with a sigh. "The police won't come and get you. They don't believe in black magic."

I tried not to glare at him. "I didn't kill him." I hissed.

"I know." Baekhyun hissed back. "Your innocence is too obvious. Don't worry, we don't believe them."

I narrowed my eyes at them. "You two sound so sure." I said. "Do you know who killed him?"

Chanyeol smirked. "What do you think?" he muttered. "We have theories." Baekhyun gave him a warning look but Chanyeol just kissed his cheek. He's obviously toying with me but I decided to ride along.

"What theories?" I asked.

"Wolves." Chanyeol answered with that i-know-something-you-don't smirk. "Probably werewolves."

I gave him a look of annoyance. "They're extinct." I hissed.

Chanyeol burst out laughing, throwing his head back in amusement. Baekhyun bit his lip to stifle a laugh though his eyes remained serious. This couple makes me sound like an idiot but i wonder why i'm not getting pissed off. Yet. I shifted on my seat and shook my head, turning away from them.

"Do you honestly believe they're extinct?" Chanyeol asked.

I rolled my eyes and pulled a notebook from my bag. I'm still working on a certain poem. "I do believe they never existed." I lied. No matter how hard I tried to deny it, deep in myself, i believe they're real. I know they existed sometime. Somewhere.

Chanyeol chuckled. "You're nuts. Werewolves are real."

"You tell me." I muttered, writing. "As if you've seen one yourself already."

The giant is laughing real hard again and Baekhyun has to cover his mouth to stop him. I glanced at them just to see Chanyeol grab Baekhyun's hand from his lips, still grinning. He kissed each one of his fingers affectionately.

"They're beautiful." he muttered as he brushes Baekhyun's fingers against his lips. "And gorgeous. And perfect."

It made me roll my eyes. "We're talking about werewolves. Not your fiance."

"You don't know what we're talking about." Chanyeol said darkly and then he murmured something on Baekhyun's ear.

Our small conversation is over.

I tried to finish my poem while Baekhyun and Chanyeol continued muttering to themselves, occasionally sharing kisses with each other. Victoria is still nowhere to be seen so i guess she's in class already. Soon enough, Chanyeol left, kissing Baekhyun long enough before waving at me with a friendly smile. We watched him step out of the office.

I looked at Baekhyun. "You're both weird." I muttered. "And clingy."

Baekhyun grinned, shaking his head. "I know." he answered as he busies himself with the bundles of paper on his desk. "We're bound to each other. It's meant to be."

"Sounds like imprinting to me." I muttered, still watching him.

Baekhyun paused, his eyes darting to meet mine. "You know a lot." he said in a quiet voice. "Don't you think you're reading too much werewolves books?"

"They fascinate me." I shrugged.

"There's nothing fascinating about them." Baekhyun said, turning away. "They're dangerous. Better keep your hands off one."

I frowned at him. "Are you... warning me?"

"No." Baekhyun shook his head. "I'm trying to save you."

Just when I'm about to ask him more, Victoria came running inside the office, face flushed and sweating. She greeted us breathlessly like she ran a marathon. "Hey there, gays!" she exclaimed, waving at us. She walked towards her own table, limping from her heels. "You're friends already?"

Baekhyun and I glanced at one another. "I guess, so?" he answered for the both of us.

"Great, great!" Victoria grinned. "Saves me the introduction."

"Why do you look like you just ran from someone who wants to kill you?" Baekhyun asked her. "You're sweating. Ew."

Victoria glared at him. "Close." she hissed. "Principal Dy wants us to write a whole issue about one topic! Just one! I escaped him, of course!"

I frowned in curiousness. "What topic?"

"Werewolves." Victoria said with a roll of her eyes. "He's obsessed with the cause of Hanjeon's death. He believes werewolves killed him."

I scoffed. "I just heard people think it's me and Grandma."

Victoria looked at me sympathetically. "I heard, too. I'm sorry." she said. "People are going nuts. They're afraid, too, you know. It was murder. They would always look for someone to blame."

I just rolled my eyes and sighed.

"So do you want to write about the werewolves?" Victoria asked, raising her brows. "I don't want the topic but i also want to hear your opinions. To be fair, of course."

I glanced at Baekhyun. He just shrugged. "Anything will do." he muttered.

Victoria looked at me. I wouldn't care whatever topic we'll have to write about. I am comfortable with anything. But having to write about wolves... werewolves. I finally found an opportunity to learn more. It's like my body calls for it. I wanted to know more about them.

I shivered as a certain cold ran through my body. "S-sure." I breathed. "Werewolves sounds... good."

Victoria groaned. "2 vs 1 now then." she muttered. "Got to consult the other editors, too."

I gave her a smile and continued writing on my notes. The poem is almost finished and as i read through it, it seems to fit the theme, if ever.

The news about Yoon Hanjeon's death is still alive, running through the mouths and minds of everyone of us. I don't know if we'll ever get the chance to get over it. It seems to go on forever.

But the question is still there, hanging and unanswered.

Who did it? Who killed him?
