Wolf 29
- KIM JONGIN -
Never did I know I could contain such kind of anger ever in my life.
It's the kind that rips you apart, tear your heart of open, and make your blood boil. In a matter of seconds, that woman is nothing but a corpse; her insides thrown everywhere and her head a winning trophy. I debated whether to call the others to help me. But I guess they could see the fire and hear the noise now.
I ran into the direction of the fire, kicking dirt and leaving all the worries. I should focus on killing every single beast who tried to hurt him. They'll be dead before the dawn breaks. Not Kyungsoo. Never him.
- PARK CHANYEOL -
First, the screams made Baekhyun and I pull away from each other. We could already smell fire and blood and battle. The second thing that happened is Oh Sehun stumbling out of the door, looking for us.
"I remember everything now!" we heard him shout and we ran back to the cottage only to find him on the ground, clutching his abdomen. "I remember what they were talking about when they threw me inside that shelter!"
Baekhyun dropped on his knees beside him. "Sehun, what the fck are you doing? Go back inside! You're still weak and---"
"It's tonight!" he hissed and the fear is evident in his eyes. "They will kill Kyungsoo tonight! I swear! They will attack him tonight!"
"But you said full moon..." I said, utterly confused.
Sehun nodded weakly. "The full moon battle would be for Jongin... and us."
We all looked back to the fire and knew instantly that Jongin's heading for that direction already. I could feel the Alpha's presence slipping and I am absolutely sure he'll end up dead tonight if he's going to that bloodbath alone. "We need to help him," I blurted out, glancing at Baekhyun.
He nodded in an instant. "I could shift," he swallowed nervously. "I could absolutely try."
"Me, too." Sehun said as he tried to stand on one foot.
"Are you insane?!" I hissed, pushing him back to the ground. "You can barely stand, Oh Sehun! You really want to get yourself killed out there?!" He's weak like Baekhyun a few days ago. I don't even know if he could shift to a werewolf already. Oh Sehun still has wounds all over his body and they're not completely healed yet.
Sehun pushed my hand away. "I can kill a wolf with a knife, alright?" he glared at me and when he tried standing up, he managed. Barely. But he's right on that part. Sehun is really good with weapons and we sometimes call him as an opponent during trainings. He also taught older werewolves. But that's not the case now. He's totally not in his original shape.
"Sehun, please don't do this," Baekhyun whispered, grabbing Sehun's hand. "We can't let you get hurt. Not like this, okay?"
But instead, Sehun just shrugged. "Our friend needs us," he whispered. "If you leave me here, I'll just follow you. No use talking me to stay."
"Bastard." I hissed, standing up and shifting to my wolf form. Baekhyun did it too and no matter how his red eyes hide it, he's definitely afraid for what's about to come. Sehun grabbed unto my fur, climbing on my back like I'm some kind of a horse. Dammit. Why is he so stubborn?
"I'll look after him," Baekhyun whispered, glancing at Sehun.
"Let's go or Jongin's be dead by now." Sehun tugged and I slapped him with my tail.
"Don't die," I said to both of them. "If you get killed, I'll kill you again."
- DO KYUNGSOO -
The fire awoken me and just as I'm about to leave my bed, Mother pulled me to a corner. I could hear screams and growls outside of our house and the Hunters are nowhere to be seen. They used to sleep outside my room but they're gone.
"Mother, what's happening?" I breathed.
I was expecting another gesture from her but Mother held my face in her trembling hands and mouthed, "Run." Her tears came instantly after she said that and I can't bear seeing her cry that my face started to go numb with dread and fear.
"No," I choked, grabbing her hand. "You have to come with me."
But she shook her head. "I'm a Warrior, Kyungsoo. I am meant for this." Her hands are trembling and I could see real fear in her eyes. But no matter how hard I try to not see it, I could also see the courage kept inside her heart after all these years. "They came to kill you. And I will never let that happen."
I started crying even before I knew it. "But... I can't lose you. Please. Just come with me."
Mother started wiping my tears away. Then she handed me the usual basket I use when I go to see Grandmother. But instead of fruits or flowers, there's a dagger inside. "Protect yourself. Run anywhere you think is safe, Kyungsoo." Then she touched my lids gently. "And never look back."
Before I could even wrap my arms around my mother, we heard another loud noise and it's right at the front porch. The Hunters are out there, fighting off werewolves but I didn't dare go to the window and look. Mother pulled me outside and towards the backdoor. "Go." she urged, pushing me gently. "Just go, Kyungsoo."
"Mother, please..." I sobbed, holding unto her hand.
She gave me one last smile. "I love you."
I ran to the one person who could help me right now but when I reached Grandmother's cottage, it's as quite as it could get. "Jongin?" I called, squinting to the dark. The water by the bridge is still and no ones watching the night. Which is actually weird. They can't not watch the night. "Chanyeol? Baek?"
They should hear me, right? They could.
My legs feel like weak sticks and I stumbled to the door, pushing it open before I could even think of it. I wiped the tears on my face as I looked around the small cottage, noticing chairs pushed to the corner and books tore wide open. If I'm a werewolf, I would know immediately the distinct smell I am getting right now.
I swallowed nervously. "Grandma?"
"My dear?"
My heart almost leaped out of my chest when I heard her voice. "Grandma!" and I ran to her sleeping area, her bed still behind a thick curtain. She must have been sleeping already when I came in. "Where's Jongin and the others? Our... our home's under attack and the werewolves are out there, looking for me. Grandma, I need Jongin's help. Please... tell me where he is." Gently, I opened the curtain just to see her in bed, her blanket tucked around her. She's wearing a bright red riding hood that's hiding most of her face. The hood looks familiar but I let it slip.
As I pushed the curtain further, I let more light into her secluded place. "Grandma?"
"I don't know where they are, my dear..." she said in a tired voice. Raspy even.
Slowly, I sat on the foot of her bed, suddenly afraid to touch her. She looks sick... and different. As she gazed at me through her lidded eyes, I frowned in confusion. "Grandma, what big eyes you have." I murmured, eyeing her intently.
"All the better to see you with, my dear..."
She gently pushed the blanket off her chest and I gasped. "Grandma, what big hands you have." and they're not wrinkled anymore. Younger. Firmer. Is she working on a potion again?
"All the better to hold you with, my dear..."
Grandmother pulled herself to a sitting position and more light fell to her hidden face. "Grandma, what big teeth you have."
"All the better to eat you with... Do Kyungsoo."
When Wu Yifan pushed me to the ground, his teeth bared and nails digging to my skin, I barely had enough strength to scream. He smirked and blood drips from his canines, dripping to my cheek and down to the floor. His red eyes are so bright it hurts me and I can't look at him.
"Did you like our mini role play there?" he sneered, smirking like an insane bastard. "How sad you came too late for your Grandmother." He spits out the last word and his words were all it took for me to realize one thing. He killed my grandmother.
"No," I sobbed, squirming out of his hold. "NO! HOW COULD YOU?!"
Yifan shrugged and when he closed his lips, I could still see his canines. "Well, she tried to fight," he said casually. "I knew you would come here and look for that Kim Jongin." there's that dark look when he sad Jongin's name. "But... you're too late again."
I could only stare at him in shock. "Did... Did you kill him?"
But instead, he glared at me as if I insulted him. "Not yet," he hissed. "I'll be done with you first." Then he slowly got off me, retreating to a corner where he could lean against the wall and run a finger along his bloody thin lips. "But you must thank me, Do Kyungsoo. I won't kill you immediately. Let's savor the moment, won't we?"
I sat up and looked around only to notice blood stain on the walls and the floor. Now I know where the distinct smell came from. When I started crying, I can't pull myself up, I can't even move my hands. I feel so weak I could barely move. Everything's starting to fall apart. The hunters would soon be dead and Mother... she could die out there.
"What the actual fck?!" Yifan hissed. "Aren't you going to fight me?"
"Where's Jongin?" I sobbed, glaring up at him. "Where's he?!"
Yifan shrugged. "Probably went to save you." he laughed. "He'll realize you're out here later... and it'll be too late. Again."
"You're a jerk..." I hissed, shaking my head in disbelief. When I finished crying and grieving and Yifan's still laughing his ass off, I stood up. My legs still feel like they're about to break and fail me but I won't let him do this; not after he killed the people I love. I slowly walked towards the dagger, grasping the leather handle. "I won't die without a fight."
"Great!" Yifan grinned, baring his teeth. "I'll let you use a weapon."
I shrugged, suddenly not caring anymore. "Fine. Whatever." I hissed as I sped into him, slicing the dagger against his abdomen but he easily dodges, grabbing my arm and throwing me against the wall. The impact knocked the air out of me but I stood up and faced him in a moment.
"How about... I'll tell you a story while we fight," Yifan grinned, wiping his hands on his dirty pants. "About how Jongin's about to die one night from now. It'll be full moon soon and we'll be unbeatable."
"Fck you." then I threw the dagger to his direction, aiming for his neck. But he caught the blade between his fingers and threw it to me instead. I felt the cut along my left cheek before I even knew pain. Blood dripped from the cut and to my shoulder, dirtying the old shirt I'm wearing.
Yifan shrugged, smirking. "When you die, Kim Jongin would be... disoriented. He'll be weak and fragile and totally vulnerable. Like you," he said, gesturing at me. "No matter how powerful he'll be that night, all I have to do is tell him how I killed and eat you... and everything would be as easy as killing a fly."
I pulled the dagger off the wall behind me. "You'll never win over him," I whispered and I immediately felt the blow, throwing me to the ground, gasping for air. Deja vu. This is so like the night when those guys tried to rape and kill me.
Yifan stepped into my hand, crushing my fingers under his boots. "Jongin's a weakling," he growled. "He knows nothing but the softness of his heart. He's weak and he'll die." Before I could talk, Yifan gripped my throat, pulling me off the ground and throwing me back to the floor. Blood dripped from my mouth and I can't bear myself to talk anymore.
"I'm tired of this," he hissed, dropping to one knee beside my trembling body. "I'll kill you now." Then he grabbed my hair between his iron grip and pulled me against the floor. When he took me a good five feet from the original spot, he threw me against the wall and I immediately heard a bone break but I don't know where. Everything is painful. When I spit blood and some teeth went with it.
He killed them. And he'll take everything from Jongin if he has to. His friends. His family. Even me. Kim Jongin might be really strong, stronger that any werewolf who ever walked this earth. But he's fragile deep inside. He could be hurt. He could cry. He could be wounded. He's not a god.
He could be as human as I am.
"Leave him alone," I choked and my voice sounds like I'm gargling blood; which is absolutely the case. "Just go to hell."
"You're just like him," Yifan spits. "You're all too weak you don't deserve the air you breath right now. You don't deserve to live another fcking day, Do Kyungsoo. And I'll make sure of that."
When I heard his footsteps approaching, I knew then I'm going to die like how my Grandmother did; between Yifan's lethal nails and teeth. I'll be like those meats in a slaughter house. Pathetic.
Thinking about that now, I suddenly felt a deep anger emerge from the deepest parts of my brain, fueling adrenaline to the tips of my fingers and face. I could feel my fingers clench into fists and I could move my legs until I'm kneeling on my knees and my palms against the floor. I started to breath heavily I'm afraid my chest's about to burst. There's heat and vibrations. My head pounded with a new sense of pain and power.
Yifan's footsteps stopped. But I could still hear him. Loud and clear. His breathing. The blood in his veins. The twitching of his muscles. I could hear everything. See everything. When I opened my eyes, the dirt on the floor is so detailed I could count them. Everything feels so close and real. A distant owl. The forest wind. Distant screams. I could even smell the fire.
I started to summon something buried deep within me. Hiding. Sleeping. Almost forgotten. My heart hammers against my rib cage just as I started to feel everything around me evaporate into a crystal clear reality. I glared up at Yifan as I stretched one of my arms and watch it change into one of those four legs.
It took seconds.
When I bared my teeth at Yifan's trembling figure, it came with a deep growl.

Good morning!
