You're powerful (ENGL)
Autre speech, pour l'anglais approfondi cette fois c: enjoy!

All of you in this room probably know it already: I am a proud and noisy - sometimes annoying - social justice warrior. I raise my voice when something seems unfair to me, I spread awareness on current issues everytime I get the oportunity to do so. I am that one person who always has the word no one ever heard to talk about this concept everyone vaguely knows about and that she wants to demolish. I try to make this world a better place. Every. Single. Day.
And so often, I have been asked: "Why are you trying so hard? What are you thinking? You're young, you have no money or fame. You're so tiny. You can't save the world. Stop wasting your time and your energy."
And, I mean... Yeah, you're right. I am no one. I am certainly not a superhero. I will not save the world.
But, you know what's good about this? I'm not planning on saving the world.
However, I want to make sure to pass on a better world to the next generation. And I want to make sure the next generation will be better than us. Like great figures of the past did, and, hopefully, like some in the future will do as well.
This is what I am fighting for. Indeed it doesn't change anything to the initial problem: one tiny human being can't do anything on their own. But, you know what they say: team work makes the dream work!
I strongly believe that if everyone did their part, things would change much quicker. But the truth is, most people are just waiting for others to make a change in their place. This phenomenon is known as the diffusion of responsability: the more people are present when something needs to be done, the less each person will feel like it is their duty to take action. They will expect others to do this in their place, they will probably do it better anyway; and in the end, if no one did anything, no one will feel guilty, because hey, the others did nothing as well! I'm no worse than them.
But it is not where things end. In fact, it shouldn't end there. Because we all can break this cycle. All it takes is to be aware of the diffusion of responsibility, and work against it. Don't wait for others to make a change in your place: take action.
Speak up. Take up space. Do everything you can, no matter how little, to be the change you want to see in the world. In the process, you will inspire people to do the same. Maybe just two, or more. In turn, these people you inspired, by speaking up and taking up space, by doing everything they can, no matter how little, to be the change they want to see in the world... They will inspire people. Maybe just two, or more. And as this goes on, the snowball is getting bigger and bigger, and things start to move. 1+1+1+1+1 can make a lot.
I once read that the best way to take away one's power is to make that person believe they have none. So I am here to remind you: you're powerful. You can be the spark that will ignite a spectacular fire. Take action, and encourage people around you to do the same. You'll see how things will slowly start to change.
I won't save the world; but I can, and I will, participate, at my own level, to making it slightly better for the future generations. And you can too.
I would like to leave you on this quote by a certain Sydney Smith: "It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little - do what you can."
