Recommended: Pray that the Holy Spirit will work through you, and guide you to learn God's word. Second, please read Psalm 115 below.

Psalm 115 New Living Translation

1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
but to your name goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
2 Why let the nations say,
"Where is their God?"
3 Our God is in the heavens,
and he does as he wishes.
4 Their idols are merely things of silver and gold,
shaped by human hands.
5 They have mouths but cannot speak,
and eyes but cannot see.
6 They have ears but cannot hear,
and noses but cannot smell.
7 They have hands but cannot feel,
and feet but cannot walk,
and throats but cannot make a sound.
8 And those who make idols are just like them,
as are all who trust in them.

9 O Israel, trust the Lord!
He is your helper and your shield.
10 O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the Lord!
He is your helper and your shield.
11 All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord!
He is your helper and your shield.

12 The Lord remembers us and will bless us.
He will bless the people of Israel
and bless the priests, the descendants of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord,
both great and lowly.

14 May the Lord richly bless
both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
16 The heavens belong to the Lord,
but he has given the earth to all humanity.
17 The dead cannot sing praises to the Lord,
for they have gone into the silence of the grave.
18 But we can praise the Lord
both now and forever!

Praise the Lord!

Psalm 115:1-2

* When God does great things it should be given to God, not his people.

1. What is something you did that you took all the glory for instead of praising God for it?

My answer: I have done nice things and later bragged about to get praise instead of praising God that I was able to do that nice thing.

Psalm 115:3-8

* God is greater than any idol. Our God is in Heaven and will not fail us unlike those who praise false idols.

* Men who create idols are just like them. The men and idol both have human mouths, feet, hands, eyes, and ears. Yet they still put these things above them.

* A cell phone is many people's idols today. Cell phones should be used to contact people and find info. Not to explore your acts of the flesh, such as lust, greed, and envy.

* Never put your phone before God. Try using your phone for Christian purposes.

* Phone and idol comparison:

Eye - camera

mouth - speaker

ear - microphone

hands/feet - sensory buttons

2. What is a time that you put your phone before God?

My answer: Checking the time during church or checking a quick notification during church.

3. What can you do to use your phone for Christianly purposes?

My answer: Create more Christian content for Wattpad.

Psalm 115:9-11

* Trust in the Lord he is our help and shield.

4. When have you relied on the Lord to be your help and shield?

My answer: Anytime my anxiety starts to creep in.

Psalm 115:12-15

* He remembers us and blesses us. He blesses those small and great alike.

* "God's blessing is for you, whoever you may be if you will only stop trusting in yourself and your own devices and instead began to trust God." - Boice

5. What is a time the Lord remembered you and blessed you?

My answer: The Lord has remembered me and my family during this Covid-19 outbreak, and he has kept us safe.

6. How can reflecting on your past blessings help you have confidence in the future?

My answer: It keeps me going because I know I have been through dark storms before, but God has taken care of me and gotten me out of it.

Psalm 115:16-18

* Praise the Lord before you die.

7. Why is it important to praise the Lord before it's too late?

My answer: After you die you can not decide to follow Christ. This choice must be made while on Earth.
