Chapter 4
"Absolutly not! Thorium you are staying right here!" Amazon cried, stamping her talon onto the ground. her scales shifted from bright green to scarlett red within minutes
"Amazon, please. I'm not asking them to risk their lives. I'm only asking them to find the base," He stated calmly.
"Why them though?! Of all dragons and scavengers! Why them?!" she shreiked back, flaring her wings out. Thorium and Katina ducked and backed away.
"Would you go if I asked?" he remarked.
"Well-No! Why would I?!"
"Exactly. This is their choice, not yours. So what say you?" Nightstalker looked over at them, calmly. Amazon snapped her head in their direction.
They both said 'yes' causing Amazon to screech and storm out. The three of them watched her, Thorium and Katina in fear, and Nightstalker in annoyance. He pulled a map out of a satchel nearby and unrolled it. "This is the Great Willow, where we are. This symbol here is the base. It's a ground trip, the trees are too thick to fly the whole way and it's about three or four days travel. Depending on how many breaks you take." he explained pointing to various places on the map. A large red symbol was about 20 or 25 miles away from the Great Willow.
"Wow thats a long ways away!" Katina remarked.
"Indeed. Wait-wait, ho-how are you speaking draconic?" Nightstalker questioned, looking at her. She pointed at her pendant, and then at Thorium. The NightWing looked at the young hybrid and watched him smile nervously.
"Well uh, my mom and dad kind of raised her since she was a hatchling," he replied. Nightstalker looked between the two before staring back at the map. He poked a sopt in the middle of the trail he was saying to follow.
"There is a Decepticon camp right about here. I managed to destroy most of it and scare them off, but not before they did this," he gestured to the bandages on his neck. Kat pulled out her 'in case of emergency' pencil and marked the spot he was pointing at with an X. "Take this map with you, and do not lose it." Thorium rolled the map up as he picked it up. "One more thing! Take these." Nightstalker fished two pendants out of his bag and handed them to the two. The pendants were both red and looked exactly like the symbol on the map where the Autobot base was.
"What is it?" Thorium asked, flipping it over in his talons.
"They'll allow you access into the base," the large NightWing answered as Thorium slipped it around his neck. It fell all the way to his chest.
"You have human sized ones right?" she asked, holding the pendant up. Nightstalker dug around in his bag before grabbing a human sized pendant. He traded it out with the dragon sized one. She happily slipped it on, over her other one. "Thank you."
"Indeed. I suggest you leave by nightfall, the Decepticons are asleep then," he replied.
"Let's go get ready then, should we mention that you sent us?" Thorium asked , turning to look at him. The large NightWing nodded, grimicing at his injury. "Okay. C'mon Kat!" Katina bounded out of the burrow and made a bee line for her hollow while Thorium went right for his hammock.
As the sun began to sink in the sky, the two friends met near the north western area of the willow leaf wall. Amazon arrived shortly before they left. "You two better be careful out there," she demanded, small splotches of red were still scattered along her scales. Swirls of pine green were spreading like vines across her face and front talons.
"We'll be fine mom. We promise, and we'll stay out of trouble," Thorium replied. He had multiple satchels made of leather around his neck, on both of his shoulders and on both flanks. Katina had a single, large satchel also made of leather slung over her shoulder, and her guitar slung on her back. She was sitting cross legged in the middle of his back, flipping through the very few scrolls of music she had. The screech owl had taken a roost on one of Thorium's horns, turning it's head around to look at Katina.
"Send messages every now and then. Thats an order," Amazon purred, pressing her forehead to his. He smiled and closed his eyes. When she pulled away, he opened his eyes and smiled before turning to face to leaves.
"You ready?" Katina asked, putting the songs back into her satchel.
"Absolutley... not, but we're going anyways," Thorium answered stepping through the leaves, into the great unknown.
