PAINFUL EXPERIENCE - Pham Viet Long - 27
Despite having knowledge about the Cold God and the Poisonous Wind, Bi Bi often lacked vigilance. She would wear loose clothes even in cold weather and continued to do so when leaving the house. Seizing this opportunity, Mr. Cold Than infiltrated Bi Bi's body through the thin layer of clothing. Immediately, Bi Bi responded with multiple sneezes, and her throat emitted a series of coughing sounds. From her limbs to her body, a chill enveloped Bi Bi, followed by the onset of a fever.
Mr. Ngoai remarked, "Well, my nephew has a fever again. I'll have to skip school to take her to the hospital!" At the hospital, the doctor diagnosed Bi Bi with an upper respiratory tract infection, and she was prescribed medication for a five-day course.
During the five days of treatment, Bi Bi had to miss school. This period allowed her to receive care and attention, making her feel slightly pampered. She enjoyed comfortable mornings, slept without disruptions, and had meals such as porridge, milk, and cake without any insistence. Despite her aversion to porridge, she attempted to eat a few spoonfuls before vomiting. Bi Bi, accustomed to being pampered, inquired anxiously, "Do I have to go to school tomorrow, grandpa?"
"Why go to school? You can rest and recover!" responded Mr. Ngoai. The following morning, Bi Bi blushed upon waking up and later experienced an upset stomach. Hearing her mother's exclamation, she ran downstairs to find out the cause.
"What's wrong, mom?" inquired Bi Bi.
"Bi Bi is vomiting, dear!"
"If she's vomiting, pat her on the back. Why are you scolding her?"
"Because she pretended to vomit!"
"No, she really vomited. If you scold her, she might vomit even more because crying makes her nose run!"
Comforted by a pat on the back, Bi Bi's tears subsided, and she was taken to kindergarten. The teacher welcomed her and intended to lead her to class. However, Bi Bi hesitated, tugging at her teacher's hand with teary eyes. Realizing that Bi Bi had grown accustomed to staying at home during her illness, the teacher decided to accompany her to the classroom. Understanding the situation, he informed the teacher, "She just recovered from an illness, so please give her less food than usual."
In the classroom, the teacher placed Bi Bi at the dining table and offered her a bowl of porridge. Advising her to eat before joining her friends, Bi Bi's teacher subtly encouraged her by involving another boy in the meal. Surprisingly, Bi Bi stopped crying, enjoyed her porridge, and eagerly joined the lineup for the music game as the teacher observed with satisfaction.
