Fatimah's POV

Today is Thursday and it's the day we will find out who Ummu's "he" is. She has been a pain in the ass. The previous day, i spent the night at Halli's place and this time around, i took what i needed before leaving for her house. We wake up rather late and arrive at school around 7:40.

We go on with our normal routine. Whilst we are going back to the class, we meet FHA.

"Ughhh! I just hope they don't ruin our day." I tell Halli who rolls her eyes.

"Su asu wa, daddawa a kunu {who are they}?" I laugh at her remark and we walk past them.

We walk through the field where ball is being played and I almost get hit with a ball in the face but thankfully someone catches it just before it reaches my face. Face ashen, I turn to look at the person who just literally saved me.

There, a handsome looking tall guy stands in front of me with the ball in his hand. He is sweating which makes some strands of his hair look wet and unkempt and that just improves his handsome look. He freaking has curly hair!

I'm not the type of girl to swoon but this guy! I am brought back to reality by the guy's voice. He is panting and I can't resist looking at his muscular chest go up and down. But I have to stop looking, haram, so I avert my gaze to the floor.

I thank him. I start to walk away when he calls my name. How he knows my name, I don't know. He runs to me and tells me to be careful next time. I nod and go up stairs.

Immediately we enter class, gulando  - what we called UmmuKalthum when she was not there - drags us by the arm and takes us back to the field. There we see the the guy who saved me and they pull each other in a hug. Halli looks at me questionably and I shrug.

UmmuKalthum introduce us to him as her two best friends and him as her only elder brother and parent at the same time.

"What do you mean by only parent?" Halli just has to ask. Trust her to bite more than she can chew.

"I haven't told anyone, but our parents are dead. But they left us a lot of money to keep us going. Since then, Ya Amir has had to fill in."

I feel really bad for her and when I look into her eyes, they are glassy. I reach for her shoulder and pull her into a hug. I think she let out all the tears because can feel my uniform getting wet but I don't mind.

I know the pain of losing someone and from the way UmmuKalthum is acting, this is the first time she is losing someone.

The memories of the time i lost him come to me.

Today is the day I will check my entrance examination results. I go home very happy, hopping like a fool. I just keep grinning from ear to ear. I am the best in the entire school.

No one came to pick me up from school. I just wait for Halli to finish her lessons so that we can go home together. Ammi and Abba are probably busy, and seeing as we don't have a driver, no one can come pick me. Ya Sa'eed didn't come today because baby Amal is sick.

Halli's driver drops me off at home and when I enter, everyone is wiping their tears. It looks like they've been crying. Ammi's eyes are red and puffy and her cheeks are a bright shade of red. Abba's eyes are just glassy.

Ya Sa'eed on the other hand looks like he has seen hell. Did something happen to baby Amal? I can't see her anywhere. I run to Ammi and ask what is going on. Before I can speak, she pulls me into a hug and for the first time in my life Ammi is crying in front of my eyes

It hurts, alot. I am getting scared so I ask Ya Sa'eed what's happening. He tells me that my second bestie, my one love - not that i actually love him - the person I tell things i don't tell anyone, not even Halli, my best cousin and favorite person in the whole wide world, the one person I hold dear to my heart and never doubt for even a second, is dead.

It is as if the world is on pause, I can feel my head spinning and my heart beating faster than ever. The only thing I can see is his face, the only thing I can hear is his laughter and words. I can hear him telling me I'm his best friend since everyone calls him a weirdo.

I can hear his words of encouragement when I said I was scared to write the entrance examination. I can remember his exact words, "How can my beautiful princess be afraid of something that she need not be scared of? My bestie, I truly trust you and I for one know that you will pass that examination so get up and I'll follow you to school so that you can get the exams over with."

I remember every second we spent together. When we would sneak into the store and sit on the shelf then eat popcorn or when we would take our own food and throw it at each other.

I even remember the day I broke our family portrait and he covered up for me. I don't know what to feel at the moment. Am I to be sad, devastated or what? I know Ya Sa'eed won't lie to me, but I still don't believe him.

How can my AbdulHalim be dead? How???

I run upstairs as fast as i can and take Ammi's phone. I dial AbdulHalim's mum's number and when it connects she's crying. I don't talk knowing fully well that if she hears my voice, she won't tell me anything. She says that the doctors just said that even the dad is dead. I just let the phone fall from my hand. That's it. He is gone.

I've been looking forward to hugging him and telling him that I passed and came out first in the entire school. I want to do was die and follow him to wherever he is. I don't care, I just want to be with him. The last thing I remember before I lose consciousness is my head bleeding because I hit it on the wall.

When I open my eyes, Ammi looks worse than before and Ya Sa'eed looks like he just escaped death, even Abba, the only person that didn't cry, is crying beside the iron bed I'm on.

I remember what happened and as I try to stand up, a sharp pain consumes my head making me grunt. Everyone's attention turns to me and before I know it they are hovering over me.

The doctor comes in and carry out some minor tests on me then says we can go home by tomorrow. I can feel tears roll down my cheek and a migraine but all that matters is that he is gone, forever. I won't ever get to see him again.

I spend almost a month at home and thankfully, since I was the best in the whole school, I don't have to write third term exams.

Halli visits me everyday and tries to get me back to my normal self but it doesn't work. Till date, i really don't know how I got over his death.

After UmmuKalthum has finished crying, I pull out of the hug and clean her face with the back of my hand.

"You've done a great job in snatching my baby sis." UmmuKalthum glares at him and we all laugh.

Now that we know the "he" she was talking about, we don't have anything to worry about. She says she's show him round the school. We wave him bye and start walking back to the class.

We come across FHA, again. They block our way in their fashionable way - holding their hands and standing in the corridor blocking the only way to our class.

"Well, prince charming strike again." I furrow my brows and Halli asks what they mean.

"Well darling, you remember that day you were sad and I tried to brighten up your mood? That prince charming of yours saved you." Freddy says, mockery wet in his tone.

"Oh... You mean the day you held my hand and tried to get me closer to you. So he was the one that saved me." Halli puts on a very obvious fake smile.

"Yes sweetheart, he was the one and only savior that saved his damsel in distress." Ahmad copies the damsel in distress pose - his hand on his forehead, closing his eyes and try to lean on Hamza.

"And now, he also saved you from a ball. Wow, what a super hero he is." Hamza's sarcasm is very prominent and he looks angry.

What's up with this guy?

Halima shoves Hamza who is in the middle to the side and takes my hand before walking right through where Hamza was just standing.

"If you guys are jealous of the so called prince charming, why don't you follow his footsteps. You can start by leaving us alone for a while okay?" And before they can reply she continues walking with me following suit.

During break, UmmuKalthum invites us to her house for a suprise party she organized for her brother. She begs us to come a little early so that we can help her set up. We are her only friends so no one else can help her. We agree and her driver picks us from Halli's house. I can't wait to see who and who she invited and how the party is going to be.
