For Whom the Bell Tolls

Part II

For Whom The Bell Tolls,

Time Marches On

-Metalica

...

There was a windigo in the Grand Mesa State Park in southern Colorado. They went there under the guise of campers and found themselves next to a kid named Tommy Collins' site. He was alright, if a little paranoid. They went prowling around that night, only to run into Tommy out in the forest. He said he had a vendetta against the fuckers and wanted to see them all dead. Turns out that the Winchesters saved him a few years ago.

Huh. Small world.

They found the thing's lair and roasted him like a turkey. Tommy said thanks and to pass his gratitude on to the boys.

...

They found a flyer for a Ghostfacers ghost camp or some shit out in Cali. Lauren wouldn't shut up about it for a week. They googled them and found a site filled with lore. Right there on the homepage was a picture of Sam and Dean and the caption of 'How NOT to be a Ghostfacer'. Morgan lost her shit at that.

They went to the thing just for shits and giggles, ended up teaching the Ghostfacers a thing or two while they were there.

...

Morgan was sitting in a little white chapel in the sleepy town of Thornton; where her father was born. They had come back to the town for her to try to reconnect with who her dad was after the startling revelation of what her dad was. Dad had brought them here occasionally when they visited.

"What brings you here so late?" a voice called, revealing himself to be the pastor.

"My sister 'n I were in town to reconnect with my father and I wanted to stop in," she said quietly. The pastor sat down in the pew next to her.

"Are you sure that's all that is weighing on your mind? The House of God is a wonderful place to take weight off your chest."

Morgan sighed. "Dad died when my sister 'n I were real young; I was only eleven. Come to find out, he was mixed up in some serious stuff that got him killed. Well, my sister 'n I get to deal with the fallout now, but we don't know which way is out anymore."

"Why's that?"

"Half the people that Dad got mixed up with want us dead and the rest are overprotective mother hens. Most want to stage a takeover that'll change everything with a rival group. All there is trying to stop it is us, some brothers that have daddy issues as well, a handful of Dad's friends and this one chick that might be playing both sides. I just- I don't think we can stop what's comin'."

The pastor took a deep breath. "I had a friend once. He actually taught me what it means to be a Christian. Anyway, he was a missionary in the middle east with me and some other guys. When we went into this one city, he started a riot of sorts by destroying a market that set up inside the little yard of the mission church. He was angry that they were doing greedy business in a place of worship.

"The people of the town were angry and called for his head. If they didn't get his, they would take all of ours instead. He didn't want to die, but he trusted in the Lord's plan and gave himself up. They killed him, and I regret most of what I did afterwards. But. In the wake of his death, the Lord's message spread in that Godless place, and the rest of us came back as better men.

"So what I guess I'm trying to say is that the Lord will never give you more than you can handle and will be by you and your sister the entire way. Trust in Him for he will hold you up in your weakest moments. Whatever you and your friends are trying to stop, you're not doing it alone. Nothing can stand against you when He is on your side. The brightest rainbows come after the darkest storms, child.

"As for your Dad, try to think of the man you knew. You may not know the whole story."

"Thanks, Pastor. I think you helped a lot."

"My name is Simon-Peter," the pastor stated with a serene smile as he stood to walk down the aisle. He stopped briefly to stare sadly at the cross in the front. "And you are most welcome. God is with you and your companions, Morgan Margaret Linden. Have Faith."

Morgan's eyes grew wide as pieced together that this was Peter. The apostle Peter. She had just unloaded news of the apocalypse on one of the disciples, and he essentially told her that God didn't want it to happen.

"Whoa," she uttered in a stunned tone. He let out a bright laugh and vanished into thin air, leaving behind the smell of palm fronds and a sense of peace and contentment.

...

Lauren and her sister were on a run in some town outside of Nashville. They had been there one a hunt for some country singer's ghost that was killing people that worked at the records company that had signed him.

"Morgan, are you sure-"

"Yes-"

"And he was-"

"Yes-"

"Whoa."

"That's what... I said."

...

Gabriel flew in out of the blue a week after Morgan meet Peter and announced that he was going to take them to Greece for stuffed grape leaves and then to Kawaii for shaved ice. The asshole even got them to start thinking of him as their uncle.

Turns out, that involved Thor tagging along too. He imprinted on the girls like a baby duck and spent the entire time they were at the beach playing Frisbee with the Lindens. He was loud and happy and athletic; just the way the Lindens like 'em.

It was a great way to spend the day, and Thor promised that he would be back soon to play more games, but he had to go help 'son of Cole' and 'the man of iron' right now.

Gabe laughed like a maniac at the flabbergasted look on the girls' faces. And then explained that he had help Thor come up with the joke when they were busy with the shaved ice.

...

There's a big jump in time between the last chapter and the next, so I wrote some snippets of the Linden's life during the gap.
