The Awakening
When I woke up I was in a bed in an unfamiliar room, the feeling of negativity was everywhere. When I looked around the room I spotted Vediovous’s body slumped against the very edge of the bed, dry tear stains on his cheeks. He was asleep.
A head suddenly peaked into the room. “Oh hey, you're finally awake” the figure walked over to Gaster, showing that is was Cross. “Vedi and Error have really been worried about ya” he smiled a bit, setting a plate of waffles and strawberries down on Gasters chest. “Here, this should heal you up more” he then sighed. “Vediovous almost died trying to heal you…” he muttered, rubbing the back of his skull. “He shouldn’t even be here ...he should be in his new room with magic connected to his soul but...we couldn’t get him to stay still until he was with you, not even Dreams aura could help…” Cross sighed, shaking his head.
“Anyway we were all pretty worried ‘bout ‘cha so I’m glad your awake” he dipped his head. “You eat and rest up a bit and then I’ll have Dream check on Vediovous’s soul” he smiled a little bit. “I can even bring your grandson up to you if you want”
“That would be nice. . . thank you. . .” and then I fell back asleep. The fight really tired me out. And then I remembered. THE FIGHT! I still had the soul from Nature, and I could now revive Coal. I had to tell Vediovous about this, But first, I had to rest.
-three hours later-
I stretched out with a yawn, finally feeling rested enough to get up and do things. As soon as I sat up, however, I was pulled into a kiss.
“YoU MeAnIe!” Vediovous whined, turning his head and coughing out dust, before hugging Gaster tightly by the neck in a choking hold. “yoU ScaREd Me! I ThoUgHt YoU DiEd FiGhtiNG NaTuRE!” he nuzzled Gasters cheek. “DonT Ever Do ThaT AgAiN!” he snapped lightly, pulling Gaster into another kiss. He was so worried about his lover, even if they weren’t lovers anymore/yet he was still worried!
“I. . . Vediovous. . . I’m sorry. I have the soul. . . but. . . I can’t revive Coal yet. I have to do something first. I. . . I hope that’s ok. . .” I didn’t know what else I could say, other than I was glad to be back. I could still feel the power flowing through me, which meant that I was still dead. I hoped I could mend my soul before I lost power and dusted.
Vediovous nodded. “y-Yes…” he pressed up against Gaster, his bones shaking. “Are YOU o-Ok ThoUgh…? You ScaREd Me So Much GastEr….” he turned around and coughed dust into a trash can that he had by the bed, some blood mixing in with the dust. What the hell? Was Vediovous ok?
“I. . . I think I’m ok.” I didn’t want to tell Vediovous about me dying. “The real question is, are you ok? You seem hurt, or injured.” Then I remembered. Ink. He must have done it, I figured. I would make him pay for it, but not yet. I also noticed the kindness tone in my voice. It was broken, on and off and on again, and I worried.
Vediovous giggled a bit, turning into a harsh cough. “oH i’M DyING” he said nonchalantly, waving his hand dismissively. “I USEd WaY Too MucH MagIc to HeAl YoU And Now IM DyING!” he didn’t seem to care about this in the slightest.
“What!? Do you need help!? I can heal you if I need to!” I tried to summon some healing magic, but as soon as I tried, I felt my soul crack a little. I bent forwards suddenly, the pain hitting me hard. “U-Ugh. . . I. . .” I coughed up a small amount of blood.
Vediovous gasped and wrapped his arms around and under Gasters arms, lifting him up a bit and laying him back down. He cupped Gasters face and looked into his eyes. “I WiLL Be FINE mY loVe” he said, lightly glaring into Gasters eyes before hugging him, healing magic suddenly coursing into Gasters soul. “I NeEd YOU To Be OK FirsT...BefOre i WiLl EvEr WorrY abOuT MysElf…” he was using more magic!
After about four minutes of healing magic coursing into Gaster, Vediovous fell down to the ground, blood pouring from his mouth. “DammiT MoM!” Error had came upstairs to see Gaster. Error growled in annoyance and hoisted Vediovous up. “DreAm! MoM PAsSed OuT AgAin!” he called out to the god.
Dream came running into the room. “Damnit, again!? Fine, I’ll heal him again. But keep an eye on him this time!” Dream walked over to Vediovous and spent about 5 minutes healing him, then walked to Gaster.
“Are you ok?” Dream asked Gaster. “If you need anything, let me know, ok?” Then he walked away.
“Do I need anything?” I scoffed. “I don’t need anything except my family.” Both Patience and Integrity coursed through me this time. I was running out of time.
Error suddenly brightened up a bit before he rushed off. He came back a few minutes later cradling Gradient, who had just woken up.
Error slowly walked over to Gaster and offered Gradient out for him to hold. “dAd, ThIs is YouR GranDsoN, GradiEnT” he smiled down at his child, smiling even wider as Gradient cooed up at him and patted his cheeks.
The little baby looked over at Gaster, tilting his head curiously, as Dream sighed, picking Vediovous up and taking him out of the room so he could go rest.
I reached out carefully, looking at my grandson in wonder, and realizing that I might never see him again. “He’s beautiful, my son. I am happy to see how much he looks like you, However, it makes me sad how he was conceived. I am also sad I can not stay long.”
Error tilted his head as Gradient cooed up at his grandpa softly in interest. “whAt Do YoU MeAn Dad?” Error didn’t understand. “yOu JusT HAve to HeAl uP For A fEw Days AnD theN We CaN AlL Be HapPy AgAIn! EspeCially WiTh MotHer nAtuRe Gone!” he smiled brightly, Gradient slapping Gasters cheeks with a squeal. “abOoO~!” he did have a bit of a glitchy voice, but not at the levels of Error and Vediovous.
“What I mean son, is can you not hear my voice? The power keeping me alive is fading.” I knew my end was almost upon me. Once Determination was gone, it was over.(Or was it? ;3)
Errors eyes widened before he immediately crashed, making Gradient wail out in fear.
Nightmare rushed into the room after hearing Gradients wail. He saw Error and then glared over at Gaster, he didn’t trust the scientist. “What did you do!?” he yowled, making Gradient wail louder and flail around.
“I didn’t do anything! I don’t even know what happened!”
And like that, I was gone. My powers gone. I only had time for one goodbye. “I love you, my son. I wish I could stay one more moment. . . I-” and then I dusted. I was gone. I was dead.
Then, I woke up. But not in the cabin, in a large, black void. I was dead after all. But I had a small chance of return.
Arms wrapped around Gaster, pulling him close into a soft embrace. "You can't give up yet child" a voice cooed. "My little brother needs you, now more than ever" a new life was put into Gaster, a new soul. "You can't die yet, child" Gaster didn't see the person, he couldn't only tell that they were female. "Your family needs you" Gaster was blinded by a white light before he woke up in his bed.
The first thing Gaster saw when he woke up, was Error crying against the edge of the bed, cradling Gradient in a shaky grip.
“I. . . Am I alive? Error? Is that you?” I had woken up after death and I was perfectly fine. No magic coming through my voice, no faint voice, just normal me.
Errors head snapped over to him, his crying stopping for the time being. “d ...Dad…?” he gently set Gradient down on the couch before running over to Gaster and hugging him tightly. “d-DaD! iT Is YoU!” he pressed against Gaster, holding onto him tightly. “...Y...youR AliVe….”
Vediovous was up in his room in the castle, the door locked and muffled crying being able to be heard.
“I am alive, my son. Do not worry, for I will live a little longer.” I had died, and then I had been reborn. It was a miracle. But even though Error knew, there was one person who didn’t.
Error sniffled, not letting go of Gaster. His father was back, he couldn’t believe it! It had been around ten days, so Gasters body was on the couch for that long. Vediovous had brought Gaster’s motionless body back. He thought he was still, ya know, solid, because of all the Determination he had, so he thought Gaster was still dead.
Error looked up at Gaster, whining. “donT gO ...yOu ...You StiLl NEeD to MeEt GrADieNt…” he held onto Gasters coat.
“Don’t worry, my son. I won’t leave you yet. I cannot leave you yet.” I hugged Error back, tears falling, hoping that I hadn’t been gone for too long.
Error sniffled, looking up at Gaster and leaning up to nuzzle his cheek. “we ...w-We All ThOuGhT YoU WerE DeaD....
...e-Even ThOuGh YoUR bOdY Didn’T DusT…whAt HapPenEd…? How aRE YoU AliVe…?” he had so many questions for his father.
“I. . . I do not know. I woke up in a black void, and a voice spoke to me, then I woke up here.” I didn’t know much, but I had a thought of who that voice was. It was a very, very long shot though.
Error calmed down after a few minutes, before he went over to the couch. He gently grabbed Gradient before walking back over to Gaster. “th...ThiS is GradiEnt…” he mumbled, looking down.
Gradients curious eyes peered up at Gaster as the baby's head tilted in confusion about who this new person was.
“I. . . He’s beautiful, my child. I hope he grows into a fine young skeleton.” I smiled brightly, before hearing a voice at the door.
Dream walked in, presumably to talk to Error, and his jaw dropped(almost literally) when he saw Gaster still alive.
“G-Gaster? You’re alive! I have to tell Vediovous!” He then ran off to get Vediovous as fast as he could.
Vediovous was still crying in his room, the door locked.
Dream walked up to the door, then knocked lightly, and waited for a response, his breath held in fear of how he would tell Vedi what had happened.
Vediovous didn’t even budge.
Dream opened the door slightly, and then walked in and over to the bed. “Vedi. . . I’m sorry. Gaster just dusted.”
Vediovous stiffened. “.....What.” Vediovous slowly sat up and leaned against the headboard of the bed. Coals body was in his hold, but the infant was actually breathing, you could see the slight rise and fall of the infants chest.
Vediovous looked over at Dream, his eyes just blank, red voids. Peach tears began to fall down his cheeks and join the tear tracks already there. “.....BrinG His Dust IN a JaR To Me…..PleAse drEaM….” he pleaded, his eyes staying blank, blood red voids.
“I. . . ok. Whatever you say.” Dream replied. He had no idea how he could fake the dust of Gaster, but he thought he had an idea. Then as he walked out of the room, he saw Gaster limping down the hall.
I walked down the hall slowly, limping in pain. After all, I had just died and been revived. I saw Dream come out of Vediovous’s room, and said, “Dream! Does he know?” Dream just stared at me, face blank.
