growing up, you are always fascinated by books. you would always love to collect books, from fairytales, romances to horrors and thrillers. you just love how the words are carefully chosen and arranged to make you feel you are in the other world. when they say, choose one favourite author, you are always in dilemma.
however, you aren't a fan of writing. you sure love to read, but certainly not writing. you are always in awe of writers, and you chose to stay that way. not only you love to read, but you love to read for other.
your favourite?
reading fairytales to kids. more of a reason, why you chose to be a kindergarten teacher. you have always had kids, asking you to read them stories, princesses to monsters to knights. you are never tired to read stories to them.
"yes, eomma. i'll be home, as soon as i find a bus ticket back home." you said your farewell to your mother, while pushing the glass door in front of you. the library receptionist greeted you, as soon as she saw you. after ending the call, you shoved the phone back in your handbag, before entering the main library in the building.
the smell of books drifted around the library hall, to your nose. new books, and old books, seems easy for you to distinguish. of course, you walked your way to the kids' section to choose a book.
feeling satisfied with your choice, you started to flip through it, while waiting for the children to come, hanging around the children's corner. whenever you had a free time, especially during weekend, you love to hang out in the library and free some time to read to the kids.
you glanced at your watch, you felt weird, as there weren't no kids gathering around waiting for you.
"maybe it's not a weekend? so there aren't many kids around?" you mumbled quietly. shrugging the thoughts off, you pushed yourself up from the chair and walked over to the shelves. keeping the book back to it's place. you sauntered out from the kids section to the novel's section. along the way, you heard the sound of the kids squealing in excitement. you can't help but stood nearer to the to the shelf behind you, and peeked through it.
"am i a bad boy, santa?" a little boy, around three, raised his hand up, and questioned the santa who was sitting in front of them.
"ho ho ho! did you listen to your parents all year round?" he asked, using a lower tone of his voice, mimicking a santa, by placing his curled up knuckles on his hips. you were in awe at his antics, determined in giving christmas to the kids. you were eyeing him from head to toe, uneven fake protuding belly, slanted fake beard which was on it's verge of falling and of course, fake hair.
unable to control yourself, you snorted, making the santa glanced up from the kids, and looked around for the noice. instantly, you covered your mouth with your hands, muffling the sounds of your giggles.
"is that your elf, santa?" another kid asked.
"i believe so, my children. your presents are now being readied by my elf. santa got to go, now my children. promise santa, you need to a good child to your parents. okay?"
"yes santa!" they answered in chorus.
as the children began to dismiss themselves by waving and hugging the santa, you realised, it's better for you to make a move by going back home. walking back to your table, you grabbed your coat and handbag.

taking the grand stairs of the main library down, against the cold wind hitting you making you shiver, you heard footsteps running behind you. as it gets nearer, the sound of the footsteps, gotten slower, until it reached the same pace as yours. peeking through the drape of your hair, you look at the black boots, with bright red colour velvet material pants. lifting your head up, you look at the familiar male beside you.
except, he was without his fake hair and beard. your eyes sparkled taking in his appearance especially his dimple. as if the sun only illuminating his face, you melted at his smile.
"hi elf!"
"i am surprised to hear santa's voice is way different from before." you curled your hand, mentally scolding yourself for blurting out those words, that was deemed rude especially on the first meeting. you expected him to frown at your remarks instead, you saw him roaring out his laughter, that sounded rich coming out from his sultry voice.
"okay, i sounded rude. sorry." you mumbled. he shook his head, telling you it was totally fine. he reached your extended hands and both of you introduced yourself.
"i saw you, behind the shelf, looking at m--, i mean us." he said.
"oh, it's just i am used to read them stories, and the kids seem disappearing today." you replied before continued to tell him the reason why you were standing behind the shelf.
"is there by any chance, we can get a coffee?" he asked suddenly, out of the blue, especially this was your first time meeting him.
since then, you both became close to each other. ever since that year, two years ago, you had become his elf, and helped him, with his santa job, in the library. two years passed, you both make time to meet the kids, and gave out presents on every christmas.Β three months of knowing each other, he asked you to become his girlfriend. of course, you squealed out of join, knowing that both of you reciprocate each other's feelings.

this year, it was different, namjoon decided to have christmas in seoul, only the two of you. of course, both of you decided to spend time in the library with the kids. you were trying to pick up a book, in one of the kids' shelves, when you felt a tugged from your shirt. a little kid was standing beside your crouching state.
"miss, can we do something different today?"
"what would you like to do today?" she pulled your hand, with her little fingers, before dragging you to the lobby. you felt different, as the library was in total silence, without the giggles of the children at the kid's section. decided to ignore your thought, you dragged yourself to follow the little girls and she was pulling you. for a litte kid, she is sure a strong little girl.
"let's go outside!"
"you want to play with the snow?" the girl shook her head from left to right, whilst still pulling you towards the main entrance. once both of you were out from the library. you saw a pathway, illuminated by lights, going down the stairs.
at the bottom of the stairs, you saw the kids were standing, some dressed in little elves, while some were dressed in a reindeer costumes, looking up at you, and in the middle there was mr santa claus himself.
as if you flew down, you realised you have reached and stood in front of the santa claus himself.
"hi elf!" he greeted. "or should i say, hi elf." he rephrased, using a lower tone of his voice. you chuckled as you remembered the first time you met him, at the same place you were currently standing.
"do you remember the first time we met?" you nodded, and your cheeks were glowing in red hue. "you told me my voice were different." he smirked, while tugging your hair behind your ear, not forgetting running his thumb across your cheek. taking a deep breath, he began to crouch down on his knee.
" meeting the elf who was standing peeking me behind the shelf was the best thing that could happened in my life. i remember how the wind blow your hair across your face, the first time we met, like it was yesterday. knowing you, all these years, makes my life complete, feeling in the hollow feeling in my heart. i can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. my one and only elf, instead of being my elf, would you become mrs santa, to this santa?"
